Like the title, which troop or troops do you consider the worst on defense? One donation I get constantly but think is terrible is the giant in the clan castle. He just seems really weak and slow to be effective on defense, yet people are so adamant about giving them. I think wall breakers are a obvious no in the CC too and goblins but the giant is the one POS I see most frequently donated.
Healers are not the best, they heal buildings, although not much.
It depends really... Usually giants stink on defenses and goblins. Although there was one idiot in my clan who said that goblins are good for defense because they run fast.... :?
If your in a clan that donates giants then leave now and the best troops are either balloons, archers, wizards, dragons or maybe healers
Archers. They die in 1 lightning.
Well if you are using your clan castle for defense, archers are the best in most people's eyes. Healers and balloons are very ineffective against enemy attacks. If you receive giants or other troops that you do not find suitable to defend your village, use them for attacking. I always use giants in my clan castle for when I attack. Wallbreakers aren't too bad if you catch them running into groups of archers and killing them with splash damage. Balloons are also great. Worst troop is probably the goblin I think.

-Goblins -- I was attacking a guy the other day, and he had a full CC of Lev 5 Goblins swarm me -- at first I laughed, but then they took out 12 of my Lev 6 Giants in an instant and did major damage to my Golem before my Archers finally got them. I was shocked. I honestly thought Goblins were worthless in a CC, but I've learned otherwise...
Most people say archers and they work wonders against giants in defense but wizards and dragons are also great due to their splash damage.
What I've noticed about giants, heroes, and I would assume golems, on defence is that if you make it difficult for someone to pull them away from your defences your attacker will waste a lot of troops trying to take them out; they won't kill many troops themselves but your towers will. This can be said for most troops I suppose but most other troops can be taken out with lightning.
Goblins and balloons are excellent in defence.
The worst would probably have to be healer or wall breaker for me, I find it much more useful to have a high DPS unit in it rather than a healer. The wall breaker is also too un-controllable to be viable.
worst troops are barbarians, goblins, wall breakers, giants, and balloons. the best are archers, wizards, minions, valkyries, and dragons because they have flight, range, and inflict splash. if i get anything else, i flip a table.
I actually prefer goblins over archers. They are faster, have a higher hp, and higher damage per second. They wipe out giants extremely fast. In our clan gobs are a preferred donation by many of the members for defense. The worst troop would have to be wb's or giants.

They have higher DPS than both barbs and archers, and higher hit points than archers.

Goblins, wall breakers, and giants are the only troops that really make me unhappy. I don't mind unconventional donations provided they are leveled troops. I lean towards thinking that archers or wizards are probably the best donations, but most donations have strengths as others have pointed out.
Giants suck on defense. Poor strength, slow attack speed, and 15 level 4 Archers can take out 4 level 4 Giants.
having a faster speed just means he will run to his death quicker. sure the goblins damage is higher than the archer and barbarian but his hitpoints is his disadvantage, 2 or 3 archers should kill one easy.Quote:

I have not tried high level WBs, i know at lower levels (3-4) they don't deal enough to kill with one shot. If they did then a few suicide troops would be good. I always thought balloons had potential. My problem with archers is when you attack the range seems great, but when you use them for defense, they hop over the walls and get in close which kills them faster.
The archers are really annoying. I like it when they attack over walls, but I think sometimes they focus on troops in the middle of the pack, not the closest.Quote:

Personally I prefer to get Archers, but any of the three units after them on the list will make me happy and I'm fine with Minions as well.
Of course I won't mind receiving #6...9 either if I'll still keep playing. I'll just use them on the next attack. But If I'm looking for troops to defend my village as I log off for the night, they're not what I'd like to see.
Any unit from #10...14 will make me unhappy unless I specifically requested for them.
As people already pointed out, there are several factors that contribute to good clan castle troop, not just DPS. The downside to bigger units like Dragons and P.E.K.K.A.s is that they are easier to lure out than a large group of smaller units. Slow units like Giants and Balloons will not be able to reach the enemy fast enough whereas very fast units like Goblins and Minions will rush there too fast and consequently get killed outside the range of splash defences.
