TH8 Labyrinth Farming Base - Progress Journal
Only recently, I got my Town Hall upgraded to level 8. I haven’t maxed TH7 yet but I figured I’d just go for TH8 because I’ve been getting a lot of elixir and I got not much to spend my elixir on so I figured I’ll just upgrade to TH8. Also, my Dark Elixir Storage will be overflowing soon if I didn’t do anything with it (my BK is already level 5 and I don’t really use Dark Troops that much).
So what is this thread about? Well, being in TH8 has got me excited since I can finally design a base. I haven’t been able to in TH7 because I just feel like it’s way too hard designing a base with only a few walls. In this thread, I will be documenting my progress on designing with my base and also to get some feedback from other Clashers as well.
Anyways, I present to you my base (no name for it yet):

This is the latest version of the base. It has been modified a little so the pictures below might be a little different. Some wall placement have been changed and some trap placements as well. The positions of the defenses have been changed as well.
I decided to make a labyrinth base (or at least I think it’s a labyrinth) because I got low level walls still and I think it will be much more fun designing a labyrinth base rather than just the traditional “make a box in the center, expand it with compartments, put stuff inside, make some hole, put traps in it” sort of thing.
What is the purpose of this base? What are its goals? Well, I’ve designed this to resist any three star attacks from different troop compositions including Giants and Dragons. I also want to protect my resources as well whilst using the Storages themselves as meat shields.
Step-by-step Construction
I started with the core like all base designers do. It’s just a simple core, nothing too special (besides the fact that it’s not a box), Clan Castle, Dark Elixir Storage and Barbarian King Altar with the Teslas (the Torch is where the third Tesla should be) and Skeleton Traps inside. I decided to put the Teslas in the core because I’ve found out that they have the highest DPS of all the defensive buildings.

Next, I began to add the “compartments” to form the second layer of the base. The Mortars and Air Defenses are here with double Giant Bombs to take care of Hog Riders.

Next is I added the bottom “compartment” with two Storages to act as meat shield for Dragons to attack while the Air Defense work on them. The Storages are covered by the Archer Tower, Cannons and Mortars. Also, you can see I put two Spring Traps up where the other two Air Defenses are.

Here I added the side “compartments” with Archer Towers and Storages. Again, these Storages are covered by the Archer Towers and Mortars. Also, I put the Wizard Towers between the Cannons and the Archer Towers.

I finally added the top “compartment” with the other Storages again acting as meat shields for the Air Defenses. These Storages are also covered by the Archer Towers, Mortars, Cannons and the Wizard Tower. Also, I added the remaining Spring Traps where Giants are expected to walk through.

Seeking Air Mines placed where the Dragons are able to breach easily into the second layer without interference from Air Defenses.

Air Bombs placed scattered within the second layer for Balloons and Minions. The remaining two Bombs are placed to provide a little more protection to the bottom “compartment” although they won’t really make much difference on their own.

Here is the final look of the base with all the remaining buildings placed. I believe I have protected my Storages pretty good and got to use them as meat shields like planned.

Note that I have been using the word “compartment” a lot and I know that it’s not the proper term to use since a compartment is an “enclosed area or space” and not a single one of those “compartments” are enclosed. If anyone could tell me the proper word to use, I would be grateful.
Please assume that the base is already maxed out and judge it from there. I don’t want people judging the base and saying that it’s bad just because the buildings are low level. I want people to judge it by the design itself and not the levels of the buildings.
