Showing level instead of league

What do you guys think about showing level instead of league? I think this reflects your experience better, especially for us farmers :) Why not showing both (level and league)? You could have your level in the league shield. I hate when some people brags about league, and he's just th5,6,7,8...

A long time ago you did get your level displayed next to your name in global before there were such things as leagues.

I understand what you're suggesting that level is a better discriminator of experience than league badge; however i suspect if level were made the thing that is visible on global it would simply encourage massive amounts of players to experience farm through donation clans, hopping around open clans donating barbs an giants or endlessly completing single player missions until their level is in the high hundreds! This already exists and i believe there are relatively low upgraded townhall 8's who have managed to farm enough experience to put them into the level 200 club. Making level the thing thats is displayed in global will encourage it further.

I still believe that league should be what is displayed in global but i do acknowledge that there are problems with this and that low level players can exploit the current system to propel their account too ridiculous trophy levels, think townhall 5's and 7's at 4000+ cups. Stopping them from being able to do this would involve some method that reduces the availability of town hall snipes such as increasing the amount of loot stored in the town hall to discourage players from leaving town halls exposed for the cheap shield. I suspect implementing this kind of change would be very unpopular with a massive chunk of the gaming population who play clash of clans and so i cant see it happening any time soon.

When the leagues were bought in and replaced the levels, there was a forum storm about it. It was stated then i believe that this isnt going to happen.. No matter what... Sorry

While that would do a great job of ruining farming, it doesn't address the bigger issue of high town hall people appearing to be low because they are slumming it in a low league. A town hall 3 in masters does not bother me as much as a town hall 10 in bronze. Displaying level would give us a much better idea of when we are dealing with a high town hall person in a low league (which happens all the time from the number of town hall 9's that farm in silver and gold league).

Yeah I remember those times, but then I was a noob and didn't know about forums.

Leagues are pointless. Other than M1+ its all just a matter of where you want to be.

It's like going fishing and deciding where you want to cast your line. The depth has no bearing at all of your skill but rather where you feel your odds are best for a big score.

All of these debates aside...

You could go to the tremendous trouble of pressing the profile button.
There, you'll find not only league AND xp level, but a whole host of other stats too.

(It used to show xp instead of league. But then we didnt have profiles)

I think this would be a great idea to have both. It would give more info about the person before actually looking at their profile.

Its 2 clicks away. Knowing sooooo much about a player is 2 buttons.
Particularly if this is about global, if youve read what someone has to say, you only have to be bothered to press 2 buttons to know whether it was worth reading.

We had a poll when leagues first came out and over 85% wanted our levels back. A person even photoshopped a level inside of a league badge and it looked good. Supercell chose to ignore the overwhelming majority of players.

I remember not liking that they no longer displayed your level by your name once the leagues came out. It was a lot easier to get a quick general sense of players' strength in chat back when they used to show the levels.

That looks so much better than just the leagues without our level in them.

More information the better, if both was possible I would want that.

But I prefer level to league, it's quite easy to manipulate your league making it rather meaningless.

Good point, OP, and Rowcoy. Displaying level just makes more sense. I've always disagreed with donations even contributing to player level. So, would it not be a perfect time to remove all past xp rewarded from donations? It would probably disappoint some high lvl TH7s, though.
