Do I NEED to max out TH8?

Hello my fellow forumers, I hope your holiday season has been happy and fun-filled!
I have a question regarding my TH level. Currently I am a near maxed TH8 and I want to know if I absolutely need to finish it before upgrading. What I have left to upgrade follows:
Tesla to level 5: 2.5m x 3 = 7.5m gold
Tesla to level 6: 3m x 3 = 9m gold
Archer Tower to level 10: 2.5m x 2 = 5m gold
Walls to level 8: 500k x 106 = 53m gold (skull walls can't be upgraded with elixir)
Barracks to level 10: 2m x 2 = 4m elixir
PEKKA to level 3: 6m elixir
Wallbreaker to level 5: 2.4m elixir
Goblin to level 5: 2.4m elixir
Hog to level 3: 30k de
BK to level 9: 35k de
BK to level 10: 40k de
Please note: I left out Valkyrie/Golem upgrades because I don't plan on doing them until TH9 anyways.

As you see, my gold upgrades highly outweigh my elixir upgrades. What I had planned on doing was fully maxing out TH8, but there are some reasons I have thought of to go ahead and move on. Here is my thinking:
1. TH9 can save more de more easily, so it would be beneficial to move on in order to save more de more quickly (TH8 has 2 level 3 de drills = 90 de per hour; TH9 has 2 level 6 de drills = 400 de per hour).
2. My current farming ability is about 10m of each resource per week. Why should I spend 5 weeks on walls if I could be doing other more important upgrades?
3. If I farmed 50m+ gold for walls, that's 50m elixir wasted.

What I could do is upgrade to TH9, get all new buildings to previous max level and then continue my TH8 work. What I am suggesting is after I have upgraded new buildings to previous max I will get all walls to skulls while being able to use the elixir to upgrade things like de drill levels, army camps, new troop levels, dark barracks, etc, etc.

Now I ask you, what do you personally suggest? Please keep in mind my farming level, it can considerably slow things down.

I never actaully thought about this...th9s get those lvl 6 giants that can destroys th8s. So going to th9 would really benefit you because you could bring in more loot. You sir a a genius! I may actually start my th9 upgrade soon and get lvl 6 giants asap even though I'm still 2 months from maxing th8.

hit the ug button. I am th8 with most defence maxed (except air defence and telsas). I am about half way with skulls. I decided to hit the upgrade to th9 button two days ago. I have about 8 days left to work on walls and finish upgrading my defences (not worried about telsa's or air defence right now). My BK is lvl 9 , and if all goes well I may even get him to 10 before the upgrade finishes. I play often enough that even though I may get wiped out (which rarely happens by the way. I usually get th sniped or at best 50-70% and 1-2 stars.

SO yeah, long story short. I play often enough to migitate any potential loses from attacks. Besides, getting the AQ will really help my farming out.

No. You don't need to max your TH. It is safe to say you can upgrade to th 9. As long as your offense(attacking troops/spells) are maxed or near maxed for your th you can upgrade. I'm a rushed th 9 and just offense is TH 7 level except for barch. And what I use is barch and loot is still good. No regrets upgrading whatsoever. So go ahead an get that th up! Archer Queen is a very nice help.

You don't 'need' to do anything, it's a game afterall....but I would if I were you. :cool:

From what I learn in this game there is only one question before upgrading your TH:
- Could you one star your same town hall level with ease and with elixir profit? (eg: dont use costly army or spells?)

If you can attack TH8 with low cost army and with good loot you can go to higher level.
This game is not about defending, just the ability of raiding. So gold grab stats + bonuses will show everything.

Edit:
I assume you dont upgrade minions and hogs to level 3 and level 4.
Anyway full troops is not needed for what I said above.

I'm going through the same delimma and I've come to the conclusion I will jump to TH9 in Feb 2015. I still need to max my teslas which are all going to lvl 4 right now. Giants, goblins, balloons, and heal spell still need to go to lvl 5, all at lvl 4. And I want to get my BK to lvl 10, which a hes at lvl 7 currently. Walls are all lvl7, but 5 which are skulls.

I BARCH for my loot and for the past week I've maintained full storages. Pekka lvl 3 takes forever in the lab and 3 builders have been doing teslas which also take forever, and the fourth is finishing barracks/collectors and misc other things.

I have level 4 minions and level 2 hogs, and I do have the ability to destroy other TH8s.

I agree with most of the replies, although I'm in the process of maxing out my TH 8. You play the game the way you like so whatever decision you make will be the right one.

I maxed my th8 and honestly I think I regret it now, kinda burnt me out in the later stages. th8 is just such a boring th level to me... your right on the edge of the really fun stuff at th9 and past the naivety of ermagherd I gotz dragons and hogs!! of th7. if I did it again, id go th9 much sooner...

A level 6 DE drill produces 100/hour, so only 200/hour at TH9 (unboosted)

i am maxing out my town hall 8 and i'm almost there i got bk level 10 and all skull walls and stuff i only need

x2 level 9 archer towers upgrading to lvl 10 right now
x3 teslas current level 4 will soon upgrade to level 5 and then 6
dark barracks current upgrading from level 2 to level 3 both of them
all bombs are level 4 and will upgrade to level 5
all air mines are level 2 and i will upgrade to level 3
all my collectors and mines are level 10 will be doing them to level 12

and thats it once those are upgraded ill be going to th9
or once everything but my collectors are upgraded.. i will do my collectors and mines during the town hall upgrade

Why do you want to work on more TH8 stuff as a TH9 with a higher nexting cost and a larger loot penalty? DE troops I can understand, but the rest I don't get. This is how you should be going up imo.

Luk3 dont upgrade yet

-Max your archer towers.
-Your BK is fine but max your hogs
-Make sure you have 2 dark barracks and that both are at least lvl 2
-upgrade wallbreaker to lvl 5

I just made the jump to TH9 a couple months ago.

In any case, your doing well & it wouldnt be horrible if you started your th9. :)

I personally don't think you need to max out TH8. I just recently finished my upgrade to TH9 yesterday. I had all walls and farming/war troops maxed and just needed point defenses left so I decided it was time to go to TH9. I spend most of my time farming for walls so after I maxed those I was just bored and barely playing for a few weeks. Yesterday, my first day at TH9, loot was so good for me with my new AQ that I went through 3 barrack boosts and got my first "take a break" 6 hour message. Although the few days I've been TH9 aren't a large sample size and I am a bit rushed, it makes the game more fun because now I can farm my walls :D

What I did is max out all my defenses and then went upgrade without caring about the walls that is probably a good idea if you don't like the wall grind

I know the whole thing behind maxing, I totally agree it is the best way, but if I max I would waste 40-50m elixir. Im honestly very concerned about that loss, I think I should go ahead.

It's not that im against the grind, I would be fine with it as long as the elixir was being used and not wasted
