The first and hardest hurdle for any addiction is admitting you're addicted. You're on your way to getting your life back.
Disable the clash of clans notifications and play just when you really have free time, not because you need to login.
not when your shield almost out
not when your troops is finished
not when battle day is starterd
but only when you are free
Just edited thread I know its against everything but tempted to "accidentally" give my paswrord out or get banned.
Set a goal to yourself.
Looks like the "cold turkey" method is not going to work for you, so you might want to gradually reduce your time on coc.
First day, 2 hrs.
Second day, 1 hr: 45 mins.
and so on...
It would be extremely helpful if you can make a planner for yourself and keep track of all the progress that you have made. Little progress is better than no progress.
Also, try to find a hobby other than C.O.C. Do you like read fictions? Drawing? or even try to play a sport of your liking.
Hope this helps, and best of luck to you, buddy.
Here is a suggestion. Raid with ballonions once an hour. Thats 8 atts maybe a day. Dont tall too much in clan. That will help.
Maybe don't take your phone to school? A few raids a day is ok but when it starts affecting your grades and social life its a problem.
I had the same addiction, with school marks drowning. Just delete the game and control you will for one week, play something like flappy bird/2048 during that time. Good Luck.
Edit: Learn playing a musical Instument (Keyboards and guitars and Drums) which can take your mind away. Listen to music of bands like coldplay, Iron Maiden, mettalica, greenday , pink floyd etc.
Try raiding using balloonions, fewer raids in a day and less time to play CoC. I left my clan which I stayed for a year, of course my clan mates got angry, its okay, its makes leaving the game much easier. Uninstalled any traces of CoC, from pc, tablet and smartphone and now, CoC doesn't control my time anymore. Goodluck!P.S. Don't get me wrong, Supercell is a great company, to get the attention of millions of players. Great job, Supercell! I love the new christmas tree too!
Upgrade to TH10. It's irreversible and (from what I read) it kills the desire to play. :)
The Simplest Way:
- Tell your parents.
- Let them take control, because you can't.
The Easy Way:
- Delete the App.
- Find a new hobby.
The Hard Way:
- Dump all your gold and elixir.
- Swear at your clan leader.
- Lose motivation to raid.
The Extreme Way:
- Premmie upgrade to TH10 and drop to Bronze.
- Call ISP or data provider to restrict application access.
The Insane Way:
- Give away your GC / login details.
The Suicidal Way:
- Flush device down toilet.
- Email SuperCell for bounded ban.
The One Way to Rule Them All:
If you have a mini, do the following:
1) Tell you clan I will be reducing my play time and will be busy and say your goodbyes. Try connecting with them on Facebook or Whatsapp if you want.
2) Make a clan with only you and your mini and donate troops to each other.
3) Raid twice a day, upgrade all your collectors.
I am currently doing this and has worked for me. I still post on the forums though. Got to reduce this as well
I have been in your situation for the longest time but with a different online game. You are a step closer to overcoming this addiction since you already admitted and accepted that you are indeed, addicted. The only thing you need to do now is action. First, your will to overcome this is the most important. You have to pledge to yourself that you WILL follow your rules (what I did is if I break a rule, there will be a corresponding punishment). Second, set some rules. Third, engage in other activities with your friends. Lastly, ask support from the people surrounding you. That are just the things I did. At first I thought I can never live without logging into my account and do some dungeon raiding but after a couple of months of following my rules, I finally got over it. Now, I don't even log onto that game anymore. The only game I play now is CoC which I only get online up to an hour or two per day. Everything relies on you actually, because no matter how others try to help you but if you are not convinced and willing to help yourself, their efforts are just useless.
Well basically it's the holidays right now and I play 4-5 hhours a day on average easily and since I just moved to a new city I don't have any friends, I am for the first time excited for school as I will meet new friends and do other activities than COC. If 1-2 hours daily is acceptable, I will cut down to it on school days for starters
I have decided I wont move to th10 until I get lavas. This is in my case makes the game more boring and therefore I play less(trust me I get bored so much when I have to do 250 walls).
If I upgraded to th10 how ever I will have to play a lot since new upgrades come in to play.
Maybe I will use baloonion to farm xD.
Thanks everyone for the posts and the motivation, rehab will start today
I honestly think you will be able to beat this easily. Look at you, so positive. :) The me a few years ago can never say those words. I get angry at people who think I'm wasting my time. I don't listen to my parents. I skipped school, got even kicked out from a prestigious college, wherein only 4 out of 10 applicants can get in. My friend's the same, he even got admitted to rehab because of computer games. It was horrible.. Anyway, you can do this, fighting!!!
Introduce this game to your classmates, then the average grade will drop below standards. Then blame the teacher.
OR you can
Show the teacher you've made it to town hall 10 and hope for a D
If you want help with a Clash addiction, you didn't exactly come to the right place.
Move to Africa with me. We'll confront this thing together hand in hand.

throw your ipad and internet router out the window. burn it. use all your money so you cant buy a new one.
Spending hours on this CoC forum won't help mate.
In some ways it's good the high lvl upgrades take so long, there's not much you can do in between, except Clan Wars- which is two atks every two days. You can talk to your clan if you feel like it, it's good to be social even if it's mostly online, as long as you aren't neglecting the real friends around you or feeling negative about it.
Why ask for advice at all if you are simply going to ignore it and do what you want anyways? You came online with your problem and people have given your solutions... yet you keep coming on to post after each and every one. Pretty sure this is more of a cry for attention than it is anything else.
This post was not about me, it is about you. We are at very different stages in our lives and I am more than capable of gaming as much as I deem healthy to myself. The same with using these forums.
My point? Perhaps don't bother coming online to ask advice if you are not willing to listen, or just ignore it all and continue to seek attention.
Addiction kills addiction. Get addicted to something else maybe
Um, make sure all your builders are at work. Buy a shield. Tell your clannies you're gonna be really busy for the next week. Leave the clan, create your own and leave it closed. Delete clash from your phone and log out of GC.
See what happens after a a few days...
You're issue isn't the game, it's in your head. Either you don't understand what the word addiction means or you just have 0 self control that a simple app on your phone can work you like a puppet. In case it's the latter, you should probably get some real help before you get addicted to something actually serious.
A lot of Coc innuendos when around girlfriend. That apart, it doesnt really help. In my case, i just took my phone out and did raids while the rant was on.
After five minutes, "Hey, you're done telling me about your day already? I haven't even found a proper base to raid yet (still nexting). You sure you got nothing more to add?"
Bro I already know the soloution/s
The one thats probably gonna work for me is school and friends, as I mention before I just moved cities to Melbourne 1-2 weeks and right now I have a 6 week holiday break and no friends #foreverAlone
Second is getting a Ban or giving out pass xD
Haven't logged in for 4 hours I'm doin good
Easiest way, leave your clan and keep your builders busy, all the time (except for breaks like summer, when you can afford to spend a lot of time on clash.
Leaving the clan removes your obligation to play clash and be active, and if your builders are busy, you'll no longer want to raid, since you couldn't use the stuff anyway (since your storages will get full/near full pretty easily. Having a free builder is tempting since it allows you to raid and use the loot.
A snipe shield will last you 12 hrs.....before I leave for work in the morning I make sure my castles full, my heroes are awake and log off for a shield, easiest way to remove the temptation to jump on and play around with it. Being in construction whipping your phone out to start playing is not a real practical thing to do. Trophies are easy to gain back....sanity isn't.
Easy way for me was to raid 2x per day. Log in and attack in the morning before work. Log in about 12 hours later to raid again. Keep th out for snipe shield. Collectors actually do a lot of work when maxed. This also allows you to not worry because you will be under shield most of the day and using an extra attack will throw off your schedule. Also, turn off notifications, that is the big one, out of sight, out of mind.
What aucks is that supercell Doesn't understand how much money is lost from addiction. a lot of players probably quit each day to end their addiction. When really, they could make a HUGE update change it.
Firat of all, remove trophies. Players feel like they need to keep this up. remove it. Make it so that matches by nexts mainly show aronud your th and level, but also show two levels below, and 2 levels above. problem starting to by solved.
Next, make it so that more loot can be gotten, but less loot is lost from the defender. The attacker gains more than the defender loses (Not counting league bonus...... Btw, The amount of attacks won will increase leagues, not trophies, and woudnt affect who you find.).
Next, supercell is screwed. Literelly. No money. Well, I have a way...... to solve that.
New single player levels, 300 more, for 3.99$. Two monthly 50 new levles, 0.99$ dollars to get. Attack simulator, where you make your own base, or use somebody else's base, and attack with infinite troops. It woudnt affect you or the defender. five dollars to use.
more loot to upgrade oo requirement (And storage level 12 for obvisus reasons. They'd get more money. And few would get addiction problems. It would be a nice, relaxing game.
th reason why I didnt make a thread is because people would most liekly disagree wih me.
Hating is ignored,vThank you.
This has too many issues to count.............
Trophies are a personal achievement and a drive, removing it would make many players unmotivated, costing SC money and making it a less enjoyable game for all.
If defenders lose less loot than attackers gain, it'd result in too much loot being generated into the game, making upgrades far too easy.
Showing only bases your level almost makes it a disadvantage to level defenses, a player with max TH, walls, and troops would find easy targets and progress far faster than someone who actually worked to get somewhere.
All these changes are huge, and would completely change how the game was run. This would make MANY players VERY, VERY angry. Trophy pushers and those that max every TH would be hugely ripped off, and those provide the most income for SC. Again, bad move.
Why would anyone buy single player levels?
Why would SC go through the trouble of making single player levels when they get all the money they do already?
Making things cost more? How would something like that make up for all the money SC would lose by these changes?
Yes, many will disagree because your idea's very flawed.
Hating's ignored? Sounds like an excuse to avoid any critique of your idea.
What I did
Go cold turkey for a week
I realized how much of a grind farmig was after this
Now I just do big full build raids. Limits me to raiding like once every 3 hours - if raiding "often." Also no need to stay logged on, just put th outside.
Search times for a huge pot can be a pain but you can still move forward - Slowly though
But I have 50+ lvl of heros, it helps
If I wasn't for clan mates I'd be 100% quit. Oddly I don't talk allot these days...
Still scaled play time waaaay back
The only way to stop is just don't pick up your phone whilst studying or doing your homework and your grades will get up hopefully.
So your grades drop one letter and you make a dramatic post about addiction and reaching out for help... Perhaps the bigger issue here is why you choose to lie/exaggerate about your problems for attention. It's probably this attention seeking that is ruining your studies. Good luck.
These are surefire solutions
1) Hold down on the clash app until it wiggles. Press the red x
2) Give your parents your phone until you finish your tasks
Good luck amigo
Never break your shield to raid!
Normally, this is not an issue, but in your case, by adopting this rule, you are effectively diluting your time raiding and game playing. After a few days, the game will seem less important.
Ok, less than an hour left of your shield - raid way
