When designing your village, I would advise you to to keep your mortars close together and well guarded. I have my wizard towers around my mortars. Also, I advise you to keep your more of your walls on the inside of your village closed off. Wall this makes it so that it holds off the troops a lot better. Don't worry about the outer part as much because wall breakers are frequently used. I've also noticed that most people attack from the bottom of my village. I think this is because my village is set higher up so it is more difficult for people to deploy troops on the top of my village. Also don't store your gold and elixir storages a close together.
