I like the idea. But describe further, how would it work, what buttons would we have to press. Just make it more detailed. It helps:)
My idea is that existing coc apps has capabilty to search clans. Once the result pops up, there will be an invitation button. Each search result will also indicate the strength of other clans relatif to our clan. Off course invitation should be only done by leader and co leader.
I know several clans in my region and I know them well. Just want to have a good healthy competition with a clan we know, it will be interesting.
This would be abused harder than anything else in the game. Create a clan of alternate accounts, or a sister clan, and battle them over and over, and feed whichever clan is in need.
Assign the highest player in the clan to lose, he puts his town hall out, and no one from that clan attacks.
I forgot to mention that we only have one chance to attack a clan, needs gems to invite and the war bonus is not as bis as existing clan war. Again, just want to have a good and healthy war...

This is my idea of how this could work:
Basically, when you go to the Clan War interface as a Leader/Co-Leader, you can choose to go to war with a random clan, or, you can choose from 100 different clans that are close to your Clan trophy average. You can also search clans, however, you cannot go to war with them unless they are less than 300 trophies in difference with your clan.
These clans have not recieved more than 3 invites, as 3 invites is the maximum your clan can get.
You can send an invitation for war then.
The invitation expires in 24 hours, and you cannot send another invite until after 30 minutes. you can only send up to three until one expires.
If an invitation is accepted, your clan will automatically go into war.
Your clan will also recieve an invitation for war in the form of a message. This message can be seen by all members of the clan at that time, however only the Leader/Co-Leaders can accept it.
After war, you cannot send another invite for 7 days (1 week).
You cannot go to war with the same clan for 1 month.
Still exploitable, have a circle of clans around the same trophy range (move members to make it so if needed), and have the highest on each side leave their TH out and get a draw (or take turns and keep track, whatever works).
That gets around both restrictions, since clans will be sending invitations to and from each clan in the circle, and if there's enough clans you won't end up warring with the same one within that one month period.

Although I like how you can send an invitation to a random clan within your trophy range, that'd be useful to help those with mismatch issues, and as long as the clans shown are random I don't see why you would need to place restrictions on it. To add to it, perhaps have clans with greater war frequencies appear more often in the list, this would make sense since they'd be more likely to accept, and a clan that never wars wouldn't appreciate the invites.
EDIT: Make the list of clans out of clans with similar offense/defense strengths, since trophies don't reflect strength at all (at least not until high champs)
Like the idea and doubt many people would bother organizing a ring of similar clans. In the end they would give up and just War as normal.
So sad that apparently coc is about randomness.. Understand that it can be exploited. Me myself will willingly pay for 100gems just to meet with our colleague in other clans. I do not really care about bonus actually..or may be we do not need to earn bonus at all from this war invitation capability?
bonus /resource is important right.... But sometimes the game play is also fun... Pride is fun, in a good and healthy way...
I like the idea, you've got my vote. Detail rules as described by RagnartheGreat, plus only involving minimum loot (or star if necessary).
Some of us (if not all) always wanted to battle with other known clan. Please Supercell, make it real !
Dont even have to be a circle of clans.
Only need 80k and 20 people to cycle through two clans that just go to war back to back. Finish a war, start a new clan, more there, start a war. War ends, start a new clan, 10 people go, start war,....
Rinse and repeat.
Also by having trophies as the filter is also exploitable. What's stopping a clan of level 120 TH10 dropping to sub 200 for easy clan war farming.
Too many problems with this.
Supercell intentionally doesn't allow you to pick your opponents. I doubt they'll deviate from that philosophy anytime soon.
The 10 in the alternating losing clan can be 10 alts of the same person.
Imagine two high ranks in the losing team, everyone could get a free 1m of each and 5000 de for just the sniping twice every two days. That's a good chuck of change. No war cc, no donations. Just the snipe the top two, the designated loser clan just won't attack.
It would be easy to invite a clan, and make a deal. You invite them and they let you win. You invite them another time and you let them win, and you repeat this. It would be too easy
What kind of reduction? 10%? 90%? Gems costs? 10? 200?
Loot: Either its a neglegent difference in loot and people will exploit it or such a reduction that no one would bother since wars costs a lot of money to participate in.
Gem: either it's dirt cheap and people can do it often or expensive and no one would bother....
And if they would bother to spend the gems, they'd probably be willing to exploit the system rather than risk losing....
I also like the idea of being able to invite some clan for fun in a war. Some people move from one clan to the other but still have contacts to their former mates or several clans know each other from real life or whatever and it'll be fun to be able to fight each other.
However, I understand that before you try to integrate such possibility, you have to think first how it could be deviated from its actual purpose. And true, there are many possibilities like fake clans, agreement, etc. which are nearly out of control. Besides, even for the "non totally random" version, the matching can't be done according to the trophies, as it is not the case in normal clan wars : trophies are not a good indice of the strength of a village.
But what if we find some conditions so that no one can make "money" out of the principle? Not only the rules about how often you could invite some clan for war and how often you're allowed to fight it are important, but what if there were just no loot for wars where you invite clans? We just want the fun, so I wouldn't be bothered if I don't get any loot for it.
