I would like an honest opinion on what league I should be in. I'm currently farming in silver league II but would like to push to crystal or even gold. My question is what league should I be comfortable in, and why it's best for me. Cheers.

Gold comes before crystal.
You'll be crushed in crystal, and you'll be bullied by town hall nines and high eights if you get to gold league with a decent amount of loot. However, the farming there is much better, as I've learned from experience. If you're active (3+ attacks after shield break before being attacked), you should have no problem farming in gold. If you're semi-active (2), you'll have a bit of trouble once you get a nice amount of gold in your storages but you should have a net gain. If you're a normal/casual player (1-), I suggest staying in silver until your defenses are more upgraded.
You could do g3 or even low g2. Anything above that, and it's a downright no. Your base is too vaultish as well.
I have a TH8 village and I'm currently in Crystal 2. I have all Level 7 wall, and some Level 8 wall, maxed out archer towers, canons, mortars and wizard towers. The only thing that's not maxed out in my setup is one of my Teslas, which is at Level 5.
In Gold 1 or Crystal 3, I survived quite a number of attacks, even winning. But in Crystal 2, I'm crushed in almost every attack. I'm lucky if I'm not two-starred, and I do keep my TH well protected.
But I do 2-3 attacks per day, and I have maxed out troops, so I my trophies keep increasing. It's possible to make it to Masters with a Level 8 TH, but you have to be active.
As a TH8, if anyone feels like coming at you with a full comp, you're pretty much screwed, particularly in high crystal. I've been hovering Crystal I for the past 2 weeks securing DE for my TH9 to finish, and in those 2 weeks, I've only lost 4k DE, and about a mil total for gold/elixirs. Granted though I got sniped for 18 out of the 25 attacks. I've been running Dark Defendum for months (only realizing that it's called Dark Defendum just recently because I forgot to save the link from the time that I saw it on the forums), and it gives some of the attackers a run for their money. But as a TH8, if they wanted to run you down, you'll get eaten alive, if they're generous, they'll snipe you and leave. If you leave your TH in proximity of your defense or you heavily trap them, you're just asking to get committed and wrecked unless you have nothing to loot, in which case you'd actually get a few trophy increases here and there. With the start of my Hog4 upgrade, I went to the trophy format for Dark Defendum, and overnight I shot through crystal 2 almost entirely overnight, going from ~2230 to 2401 in a span of 7 hours, but that's just the luck of the draw.
I love that you gave such a detailed response mate! Truly means a lot , and helps even more. I'd consider myself a very active player(I play clash of clans more than my console) I normally suffer from an attack on my village , 3 times a week. And I mean full on attacks like war attacks , I have yet to get three starred. But I won't push my luck by going to a division that my village cannot yet handle. So I look around at layouts that better fit my village defences. I only use this layout when I trophy drop to tease the bronze league players😂
i have a townhall8 maxed base farming! it is in gold 11 i dont think your base is strong enough to handle crystal
Of course, be wherever you are comfortable and make the game fun for yourself. I used to obsess over my defenses winning almost every attack, and I did everything I could to improve the situation. I remember being at TH6, then moving to TH7 to get Teslas, "because, then, of course, every attack would be neutralized." Fallacy, of course.
So I've settled into a steady-state kind of thinking. I can spend the time doing 5-7 attacks per week. Given that, wherever my village ends up is where it ends up. As it improves and I can acquire more powerful defenses, the steady-state setpoint will naturally move up...
I know, sounds boring. But it's a Zen kind of thing, in a motorcycley-maintenancey kind of way...
Cheers
I wouldn't recommend touching crystal because there you will have hard times. (Th9s like low to mid th8s like you).
Gold 1/2- still too many th9s.
Low gold 3, silver 1 should be good enough for you because here are more th7s than th9s and th8s are the biggest part of them all
Oh, I forgot to mention the most important thing: the clan castle. If you have it filled with L5+ defence troops, you can force the attackers to make critical mistakes and hard decisions, so make sure it is always full!
This could depend on several factors.
1. Strength of base!
If you have level 6 splash and air defenses and at least level 9 cannons at town hall 8 then you most likely have a legitimate chance to survive in crystal. However this also depends on factor 2...
2. Base design
You could have an entirely maxed town hall 8, but if your base DESIGN is awful, you'll get crushed in gold 2.
3. Activity
If you can attack at least 3 or 4 times a day with a reasonable amount of trophies each time, you should be ok. I recommend being on Clash whenever you can, but don't put it before more important matters such as work and school ;).
I hope this helped you, and I wish you luck on trophy pushing if you do indeed choose to do so.

Thank you for the response mate! This feedback is golden! I consider myself fairly new to the game in contrast to my rank and town hall level, but I am making an effort to become more familiar with the strategic aspect of the game, and all of these responses help a lot. Thanks again, Cheers and have a happy holidays!
