Root Economy Issue
We have two issues at the core of the problem with our Economy. The steps SC has taken to make adjustments are helpful but ignore the root cause of our problems. We can fix things without the need to just bring back more dead bases.
- Collector Upgrades – While we were given a new level of collectors, far too many players simply do not see the value in upgrading these at all. Collectors are the life blood of the game where the vast majority of resources come from.
- Leagues /Match Making – If I am a TH10 the loot penalty reduces my pool of viable raids to only those town halls close to my own level. Yet I have to wade through tons and tons of low level town halls to find an appropriate raid without suffering a steep loot penalty. A TH10 could be anywhere from Master all the way down to silver just hanging out. This means that a majority of appropriate targets for you are hidden based on their trophy count in relation to your own.
These 2 things combined is the root issue with our economy. It’s why we have to next so much and find so little good competition. So how do we fix it?
- Collectors – I see a couple things we could do here to highly encourage players to upgrade them. The easiest which has been mentioned a million times before is to add an achievement. But I think we need more than that. I would like to see a reduction in the loot penalty if your collectors are not maxed for your level. This means that if you don’t upgrade them then high level players could nail your storages for less of a penalty. Money talks and these things would motivate players to upgrade these quick.
- Leagues /Match Making – We need to be matched with players that are appropriate to our level. This means as a TH10 I should never see TH7’s. We have a couple ways we could change this and either would offer a significant improvement.
- Option 1 – Adjust the odds to what level town hall you see based on the loot penalty. So for example players that are level 9 would see a majority of other players that are +/- 1 level of their own. This way there is less nexting over players not worth their time. Then expand the pool of town halls by increasing the range of trophies close to yours it searches.
- Option 2 – Lock down the leagues so that each town hall has a minimum and maximum league they can be in. No more hiding as a TH10 down in silver and no more TH7’s snipping up to masters. What to be in a higher league? Great! Upgrade your town hall!
I know it’s a big change. But we have a big problem and the current economy is simply not working. This will make things far more efficient, fair, and most of all fix our Economy quickly. Thank you for your time reading.

I understand what you mean by the collector issue and I think achievement isn't enough incentive (unless the gem reward is big, which would imply it wouldn't be favourable to supercell). The loss of loot penalty isn't fair either, if someone attacks you while you are upgrading other things and takes your loot. [i am personally guilty of not upgrading my collectors simply because I feel the lvl 10 is ugly. (lvl 11 is better but not enough to make me upgrade yet)]
As for the loot penalty thing, locking players isn't a good thing, because it takes away what the trophy system is supposed to be (a measure of your attacking ability, which it isn't really at this point). +/- 1 town hall level might might not work If you are a town hall 10 in bronze 3. And I am a town hall 8 that sometimes attack town hall 10s for loot or town hall 6 for trophies, so we shouldn't limit that either.
The only obvious solution is to decrease the loot penalty for town hall 10 (only) because it is the maximum town hall and that means that there are no good loot bonuses from being town hall 10. Many people don't upgrade to town hall 10 for that reason. However, once again, there are many problems, like imbalance.
But, I agree we need to fix the economy. Just be glad there is no inflation (:p).
Sorry for the wall of text.

When you make profound statements like 'the economy is simply not working' you have to explain exactly what you mean and have evidence.
Secondly about facing really low ths, I am in m3 as a th10 and search hundreds of times without seeing anyone below th9. The whole point of manipulating your trophy count is to affect what bases you typically see and loot bonus, I don't see why this should be mitigated and include what th you are as well. Segregating ths sounds like an even worse idea, we have trophies for a reason.
An achievement for maxing collectors sounds nice, but I done see where SC have said they want to encourage people to upgrade their collectors. If people do then they do, if they don't they don't, there's no reason to incentivise it. We have loot penalty for a reason, so the idea that it should be reduced for unmaxed collectors is horrible and sounds self-motivated.

i agree with about 60% of the things you said, yes a reduction of the loot penalty would be nice, but basing off of collector levels might be a little tricky.
Maxed leagues for a th, sorry, but it just dosent work that way, anyways, whoever has that much time on their hands needs to get a life.
now the adjustment opponent making based on a +1-1 system is agreeable and i do like that.
also im sorry, but if you spend 100k nexting, you might want to wade around in some leagues to find out what is available.
All the best - Sullysd

I don't like the penalty reduction idea, because it would make farming harder. As it is, I gotta click 50 times to find a base w/ 100k gold and elixir in collectors at Gold 2.
A better way would be to boost their production. People aren't doing the lvl 12 collector upgrade because it isn't worth it for 500 more per hour. It will take 2 months for the upgrades to pay for themselves. If they gave out 4k an hour, people would be more inclined to upgrade them.
