I'm a level 84 TH 8 and I've decided that I am going to fully max everything before TH 9. Currently, all my defenses are maxed and my Barb King is level 6.
I still have about 90 pink walls and a few elixer researches to do, but mainly the dark elixer troops. Any advice for farming a ton of gold for walls and dark elixer for upgrades and BK?
You're asking me to give up my secret farming range? Good luck getting that information out of me.
On a sidenote: I was in Gold 1 during a day long push yesterday and there was decent loot.
stay in gold league if you want gold/elixir, go up to crystal if you want DE.
I'm a TH8 like you but I fully upgraded my troops already (except the healer and goblins). I was hunting in G2 and G3 most of the time. There were plenty of premie TH8's out there with a lot of loot. Good luck and hang in there. The skull walls are worth it.

Yep. Gold I or II however I've found G II to be slightly better when offering all three resources with minimal troops such as gibarch. With the recent elixir/spell/hero boost I'd focus your DE on your BK upgrades. As far as your other troops, meh, they can wait until you get the DE hunting AQ. I currently have everything upgraded/upgrading except minions, valks, hogs and I'm heading up in 9 days. Good luck!
Edit: I use 8 giants, 8 wall brkrs, 20 goblins, 50/50 barch. 3 heals constantly brewing. Pick on those TH7s saving up for the BK and TH8s that have exposed DE storages within one/ two walls. Drop one heal when your troops target the DE. Dont focus on cups. Its the DE you need.
just maxed my th8, spent pretty much the entire time in C3 and C2, c2 for de (around 2200), c3 for gold n lix(around 1950).
The DE portion of the program just got a whole lot easier with the new drill, so max it asap using the elixir you may have used on walls before the update...
And I find 3 heal barch with 2 barracks, spell factory, and BK boosted to be fun and reasonably cost effective (in gems I mean). Super cool during a 1-gem barracks boost, for sure.
I also find super early in the morning EST (like 6:00-7:00) to be nice, in the 1200-1500 cup range for gold.

I'm roughly the same place as you. Just 4 Archer Towers left, but my BK is lvl10.
Most of my research is done except valks and golems.
I have 50 some odd walls left to do.
I spend most of my time in gold2. I haven't had much luck in gold1.
Crystal 3 is good for de but that's about it, in my experience.
When all I want is gold, I drop to silver 1 and just crush th7s with max loot.
I, too, am in the same situation as you. My last tesla is getting upgraded, and all that remains are collectors, walls (I have 30 skulls), and DE stuff. I'm in Gold 2, and it's ok. I wish there was somewhere better.
