Just don't. Max those defenses first.
My defenses are almost maxed. and I'm still not going up.

and collectors/barracks
it just makes your life so much easier.
Do not upgrade because
1. you will not be able to hold that elixer you need to get lvl 6 giants because your base is super weak. people will gang raid you so hard over and over you will quit this game.
2. No one wants level 6 giants
3.you only attack once a day its best to make that one attack count by hitting full collectors/storage th7's that you can actually handle with your attack
4. you rushing your th will hurt your clan in clan wars. you will have to fight harder opponents.
5. listen to us
6.we want you to survive
7. trust us
8. the force luke use the force!

like the others before me, don't upgrade, your structures are very weak
no one is stopping you though
also if you're gonna go TH9 for the sake of donating Clan members Giants
max all your collectors to 12, and stay around Gold 1, break your shield always
if you do this, not only you help the clan, but also help the community

I hit th9 when i was lvl55 with th6-7 defenses and lvl7 walls,I don't regret it.I can still find loot and also save it too,
Believe it or not,I've never been 3 starred even once and lvl3 dragon raid also failed against me.Plus the extra storage and walls helps a lot in saving your loot.People who say don't rush are those who have not rushed,so they have no idea how it feels to actually be in that situation.
I have lvl6 barch,lvl5 gaint(upgrading),2 xbows,drills lvl5 both..etc
