[Guide] How to get to master and beyond at TH8
Introduction~
Hello readers, ClashLegend here bringing another guide. Been a long time since I wrote one, and it's time to get back into it. Thanks to raw for the suggestion of making this guide- if it wasn't for him, this guide wouldn't be here :)
So I'll start off with some strategies that you can use to get to master (and higher). I recommend testing and perfecting one, rather than being ok at most of them, as you are going to need to be VERY comfortable with these strategies when raiding.
Most effective pushing strategies at town hall 8
Obviously there are many strategies to use, but here are a few good ones:
Mass Dragon/Dragons and minions
Army comp: 9 Dragons, 10 minions, 3 lightning spells (could use any spells however)
OR
All dragons and any spells
How to use:
Step 1: Pick a base with weaker air defenses. Choose the side of the base closest to the town hall or where 2 of the air defenses are located.
Step 2: Drop minions on buildings around 5 buildings apart from each other, so that your dragons will funnel into the base once you drop them all
Step 3: Follow up behind with the rest of your dragons, once you have cleared a path to the buildings or defenses behind the walls
Step 4: (If you are using 2 rage 1 heal) Drop the rage over the air defense when the dragons get there, as this will very quickly destroy the air defense. Always place rage and heal where the dragons are going to go, not where they are. Once your dragons get over the town hall, drop the heal where most of the dragons are- to make the most of spells, always drop them where the majority of your troops are.
Step 5: (if going for 3 stars on a weaker base) Drop your king where he will be distracting 2 or more archer towers- once you have air defenses out of the way, the next thing that can kill your dragons are the air defenses; make sure you have them distracted!
Another strategy to use is Barch. This is a pretty simple 50% strategy to use on bases with at least 45% on the outside.
Army Comp: 120 archers, 80 barbs, 3 lightning spells
How to use:
Go for 50% by deploying barbarians on outside buildings In a line, NOT CLUSTERS OR GROUPS. Follow up by dropping archers behind to make sure the buildings go down.
Its basically that simple. You want to make sure that you take out mortars or wizard towers that can harm your barbarians with the Lightning spells. If there is a single mortar you want to take out, drop 2 lightning spells: if there is a wizard tower and mortar directly next to each other, it will take 3 of them to completely destroy them.
Here are a few bases you want to be cautious attacking with barch, as if you make a mistake in deployment could cause you a -29 loss:

Although bases like these look like an easy win, you could very well end up with a 49%.
Mass dragon and barch are the most efficient trophy gaining strategies, but of course you can use others such as Gowipe (pretty expensive and long to train) or you can always town hall snipe bases- just be careful for spots that could house giant bombs or hidden teslas. If you see a trapped town hall, never go for it, unless you are extremely confident you can win.
Things to keep in mind:
One thing you need is patience: I have tried attacking weak bases with half or 3/4 armies before thinking I could win and trying to gain trophies while my troops trained, and it almost always results in a loss. Always attack with your full army.
If if you are low on gems but plan to raid for a while, you can train quick armies like barch and boost your spell factory. This allows you to have at least 1-2 spells ready by the time your troops are trained, and is much more efficient to raid quickly with.
Past 2400, PUT TOWN HALL OUTSIDE. Town hall 9s and 10s love to pick on town hall 8s for easy trophies!
Always try to stay on around 1 million resources if possible: this insures you will not run out
Try to get your king to at least Level 5 for the ability before push, as it is infinitely more helpful with it!
Thanks for reading guys! If you have anything else you want added, make sure you tell me in the comments.
