If DE is zapped it should give the attacker elixir instead. The "logic" behind this is that the electric strkes would change it to normal elixir. The defender would still lose the DE, but nobody would zap if they can't get DE.

No, logic is dark elixir comes out when you damage a dark elixir storage
There's thousands of threads complaining about DE zapping, it's not going to change and it's a part of the game you'll need to live with. There's ways to avoid zapping, but it's your choice whether or not you want to take them.
I'm not really understanding why the de storage gives elixir for some reason, why not gold?
For the love of all things HOLY.......Please no more zapping threads...please please please....make it a Christmas wish to go 24 hours without a repeat of the previous 200,000 zapping threads.
added to bucket list
23. See COC forum go 1 full day without a zapping thread.
I think I have my expectations set a little high.
This is why the drills were made available to TH7 and the second one for TH8. They wanted to reduce the need to zap people DE, but if you have got a drill of your own, then you wont need to zap as much.
You do realize that if a solution is made to the zapping problem then there will be no more threads about it? I searched it up, I didn't see any duplicate threads, it might be a unique idea (at least not in circulation). I do not like the 200,000 zapping threads other than this one, I am trying to make a solution to them by ending the need to make more zapping threads.
In the description of the DE drill, it says DE is the purest form of Elixir. striking it with lightning would purify the substance would it not, rather than corrupting it? With that logic then, Lightning strikes on a DE storage should yield DE or something purer than that.
