I simply barched in crystal 3 for all of TH8. I was just going for 50% on the perimeter of bases and got so much DE that I would sometimes not even bother to use archers to get a drill behind 1 layer of walls because I did not need the drill for 50% and had no use for the DE. I didn't make any DE troops while TH8, but I did get enough DE to raise my BK to 10 and do every DE upgrade in the lab without even trying to collect DE. Crystal 3 is where it's at.
With the recent changes, the Dark Economy should slowly improve in the lower gold leagues.
Really however, it depends how often you raid and how quickly you are looking to make those king upgrades. As your defenses mature for TH8, you will find it easier to hold onto higher levels of dark. If you try to do this too early, you will just will get smashed by TH9's, especially if you are in Crystal.
barch i just fill each barracks with barbs and the next archers 2 each get random and boost the barracks and king. I dont lightning unless i have too. But im TH8 with level 10 king, level 2 golems, going to level 3 hogs and have level 3 minions. After the hog upgrade i have 24k dark. Farming about 1900 to 2000. I hit 2k to get bonus and dont drop below 1900 to keep getting the crystal bonus. I do 2 hours a day if the wifey lets haha. I had enough exlixer where i didnt care if i made a big profit on it and just went for the dark and maxed out my 80k holding and surprisingly never got attacked, people just TH sniped me
There is DE everywhere in Gold III-II these days. I just went to TH8 around Thankgiving and I am sending BK to L10 today.
I have just been barching it with the occasional wallbreakers and heal spells, 500-900 at a time. Lots of people with 500-700 DE that aren't actively DE farming so they don't have their DE centralized. Sniping pumps. TH7s. etc. I snipe town halls while army is building to keep trophies up since many of my DE raids are losses. I raised the 30K for L8 BK in Crystal II, it was too much work.
The 35K and 40K I just did in Gold III-II. After I started the L9 upgrade, I got the next 40K in less than 3 days. The key thing is once you get around 20K or so, you need to start making sure you raid more in one session than you can lose. Having maxed drills helps mitigate losses because they can give you 1K DE during a 12 hour shield.
If you're going to use spells I think heals are more effective because with 3 heals you can get all the DE, whereas lightning only gets you ~40%.
Keep your town hall out and hope for snipes.

the only thing that could be an issue are the tr you get that may bring you to high to be able to farm efficiently, but it's easy lose later and costs nothing if you use a hero
You don't. You skip TH 8 and go straight to 9. Enjoy the DE from TH9! :cool:
