'Re-gift troops' Donate from Clan Castle

Been a few times where I get donated a powerful unit, and someone else could make better use of it. sooner. Or could pass along a wanted troop to someone else, but can't easily do that, because of timing issues.

Don't particularly care if you get XP from it or not, just as long as there is a way to hand it back out to someone else.

For those arguing that it could be abused, if someone really wanted to abuse the XP gain from donations, just partner up with someone and donate and dump Barbarian units as fast as time allows for an insignificant elixir cost.

If people like this idea, please say so. If you see this thread down several pages, 'bump' it back up, but please try to 'bump' with a useful comment of some kind, since bumping isn't allowed. (The no-bump policy likely is enforced if it gets obvious and excessive.) I hate how possibly good ideas are left to die as people keep posting and ranting on Ruled-out threads. I know I should talk, but it's hard not to do the same at times and comment on those other bad threads.

I see where this is coming from, and I like it...kind of. I just think someone donating a troop they don't have access to is just wrong. Personal belief I guess, but I definitely see a use for this kind of a feature

Getting troops you don't have access to is just strategically iffy. Like getting one dragon, or one healer. Had a battle plan around a dragon taking out something, and the @#$%& thing went South, instead of West, and ruined the whole battle*.

I can see the same with one healer, where someone dependant on one could lose from that one unit being shot down early.

The cc space just isn't big enough to use those troops effectively.

Defense has sometimes been a different story, since they tend to be the wild card or extra umpf needed to fend off an attacker.

(*Idk why it would go to a further building, all because the closest one is behind a wall? I mean it is a FLYING unit! When did it care about wall?!)

The term 're-gift' has become common use, so people that have never seen that episode of Sienfield still know what it means.

no xp since you didn't make the unit

first, i think some XP should be given, but kept to a minimum. you are donating a troop but, like someone said, you did not make it.

i could see the usefulness of this

you have trained up your troops for a battle to a specific target in the clan war. do to real life situations you are not able to attack until a later time. when the time comes for you to attack, you see that a clan mate has already attacked that base and 3 starred it. you need to attack a different base and the troops in your cc for offense are now not needed and you need different troops. but a clan mate could use the troop you have in your cc.

a slight stretch, i admit. but answer honestly, how often has this situation happened?
it has happened to me a few times at least.

this falls in line with a matter of convenience and i will admit that just because an idea is convenient, does not mean it should be implemented.

I think zero XP would have to be given, otherwise the abuse of this would be people passing off crappy donations to others and getting XP for it.

Plus, I'd limit it to one pass off. You can't regift the same troops multiple times. Plus, the original donor cannot receive these troops back as regift for his CC.

If these restrictions exist, I see no problems with this.

Yep. It's why no XP or achievement credit is given towards war CC donations. Way too much abuse would occur.

Nice to see people support this. :) And yes, some kind of balancing restrictions should apply; like re-gifting back to the owner. If able to re-gift back, that is one step removed from filling your own cc with troops. So no tacky gift-backs :p

I did make an argument on my OP about XP abuse. If you really wanted to abuse the system, you could already. So personally I don't see the issue, unless someone has a better argument. Personally I don't care if it gives XP or not. Might as well just error on caution and simplicity and just not give XP anyway; at least not at first.

Now the Achievement count I didn't take into account. Almost falls into the same boat as the XP argument of the system already being abusable as-is.

There can be several reasons for the need for a Clan Castle re-donate. Can range from failed or changed plans, bad donation, donating to wrong person, holding onto troops for someone else, give to someone else more needy.. the list can go on.

Interface wise, could be an added line at the bottom of the current donation menu on troops to give. Could have a different color to show they have been passed off already.

As long as you don't get xp for re-gifting...sounds like a decent idea. If you didn't make the unit you shouldn't get a single point of xp.

This is a great idea. And no, no XP should be given. Please take into consideration :o

Oh damn! This fell off the top pages so fast I forgot to check back on this!

Starting to hate the spammy threads after seeing so many threads with good reviews just sinking down the pages like a rock in water, likely to never be seen again.

So if I got this right, the basic ideas are...

1. Can donate from Clan Castle
2. Gives no XP for re-donated troops
3. Does not count for achievement goal
4. Cannot give back to owner

All but the last one I'm not sure how it would be easy to code. For #1, just give access to the donation function, or add a line of rows for CC troops. #2 is easy, since you get the same effect in war donations. #3 Ditto with #2. #4 would need extra data management and a change in menu displays in some way, since currently there is no evidence on my side to show that donated units retain the info of who donated them, which is required for this to even work.

OK, so it's mostly doable, even if #4 is problematic.

I'm wondering about the coding issue with gifting back troops. Would that unbalance things if that wasn't put in? You would have to use two troop requests, one from each person, to get your troops back from a cooperative person. XP would only be awarded once, but the first person would be able to get exactly what they want.

I wouldn't be so worried about this if I knew that the game kept track of who gave what, and if it could give an easy to understand way to tell that you couldn't give back.

I guess in the donation menu, it could subtract the ineligible units from the CC donation row, and just simply give what is allowable in the menu, if anything at all.

Hmm. maybe .25 of the original xp?

There is no fractional XP points. Everything is rounded, and by my guess will always be that way.
