I tried a quick search and got a bunch of recruitment threads. I was wondering why the hero upgrade times weren't spaced out better. It seems odd that a level 15 hero upgrade takes the same amount of time as a level 40 hero upgrade. Anyone know why this is the case? Just a curiosity thing
Ssshhhhh... Before they make lvl 40 heroes 2 weeks...
They used to be dramatically longer, it was spaced out 12 hours all the way to 40. I think level 40 was 2-3 weeks to complete..
are you asking that level 15 is shorter or that level 40 is longer? No one wants a downed hero for more than a week, especially if they can't take them to war.Quote:

This is what I would have assumed the case be. I would never want the hero upgrade longer than 7 days, I just found it strange that 25 levels of something would all have same upgrade time.Quote:

Because Supercell's team of accountants chose 7 days as the happy medium between "upgrade time is so short I won't be tempted to gem it" and "upgrade time is so long i'm not even going to bother doing it".
Can be frustrating but keeps it free to play if you've got patience.

For those clans that war once a week (which is a lot of them). It is a big temptation to gem the last day on a hero upgrade to get them into war. Guess where the gems are coming from? Answer: People's credit cards.
If a clan only war once a week, I seriously doubt they would care about keeping things active for the war win, thus I highly doubt they would gem the heroes.

Its clear as day! Its because of the money. If heros build time was spread out (7days being max hero) that equal less gems which equals less money.
Thats 25 lvls for 999 gems each time. Thats 10$ a lvl ithink. 25•10=250•x(amount of players)=high bank account
as i am constantly upgrading my king from level 15 to level 40 it is still a 25 weeks upgrade !!!!

While I agree that almost all SC's game mechanics and pricing decisions are purchase driven (obviously, they're very much a for-profit business), they were forced to temper their typically outrages build times in this instance. Clan war frequency was one reason, once a week is pretty common. There is also such as thing as going too far; like all metrics, they need to walk a razor line between squeezing as much from players and having them say "I'm not going to bother, screw this".Quote:

My clan wars once a week. I'm telling you now, members of my clan gem the heroes so they can use them in both attacks. We lose the war without them. Especially when half the members are constantly upgrading heroes.Quote:

Because over 7 days without a hero greatly effects gameplay, especially with trophy pushing and high level farming, where you would have lvl 15-40 heroes. Two weeks without a hero would simply make attacking near impossible at high levels.

That's a bit ridiculous. Level 5 heroes done in 21 hours?

Yep, and that's non-stop upgrading. So you can call your queen/king goodbye for half a year if you want to farm max heroes in a humane time. Wanna use your queen, maybe half of the time? thats a year until maxed. SC gets a lot of cash from people gemming their hero upgrade times, that's why they take so long.
