Chat interface enhancement

Hi team,

I was wondering if you could do something to enhance the usability of the chat interface. It is painful to use and lead to increase misspelling which has the effect to downgrade the quality of the language used. A lot of kids are playing with your games – including mine – and I’m afraid to say that the chat does not help them to take the habit to write correctly as lazy we all are. We have all a responsibility to take care of the future generations and ensure they will have, at least, the minimum basis to communicate properly. If they see all the time misspelled words, how could they make the difference with the correct spelling?

Request: “Chat interface enhancement”

Key pain point:

• Impossible to correct a misspelling word without having to erase all characters keyed in from the end.

Features that could help:

1. Navigate in the text by pointing the finger anywhere for correction.
2. Copy/past
3. Spell checking

Idea: Why not using the standard OS keyboard features?
I’m using iOS and I’m surprised to not be able to use the standard iOS keyboard features which are so convenient.

PS: While registering to access the forum I have been asked to answer the following question: “What is the name of the company that has invented the iPhone?”. My answer “Apple Inc.” has been rejected. I assume you were expecting “Apple” which is not correct answer. Just joking… :rolleyes:

I thought this would be another thread about beeing able to private message but you didn't ;)

I think you're right and this would a be a nice thing. Especially your point about when you
wrote a sentence and you want to change the first word. Pin-pointing with your finger to
change that word would be a nice thing!

Also auto spelling might be a good idea yes but you need to be giving an option.

For instance:

When i type - Raed - it should be given the option "read" and you have to click on it. The reason
for this (and not autocorrect) is allot of people use slang or there own kind of words which
they don't want auto-corrected.

I got CoC on my samsung cellphone and when some update came i noticed i could swipe. I'am
one of the few people who use swiping but i like that allot. Now i bought a Apple Ipad and I
notice i couldn't swipe. What im trying to say here is that they already adepting to our devices
and your idea would be a nice thing for all our devices ;)

Good idea. It should also make abbreviations into their full words, so NP to no problem

Thank god im not the only one. I have posted this in the past to no avail. I hope many people respond to this and it is seen by a moderator. My whole clan has been looking for an update to fix these typos'. We have even use the phrase "the struggle" after all typos'.

Lol, im surprised you guys want an autocorrect function when the more serious problem is the censoring problem

Yes Maneback I agree with the abbreviation and slang usage as it is often a pain when the auto-completion takes the lead. As far as I know the OS learn this kind of specialities and includes them in the user dictionary.
In any case, even not asking for huge changes, the finger pointing feature would be a great improvement as a start.

Regarding your point on the possibility to use swipe on keyboard, if I am correct, since Apple Inc. has opened the keyboard to third party in iOS 8, it is now possible to find such swiping keyboards on the AppStore. This needs to be double checked as I’m not using it.

If SuperCell decides to leverage the OS keyboard functionality these abbreviations or slang words would be included into the user dictionary. From my point of view, leveraging the OS keyboard is what requires the minimum of effort from SuperCell. But I assume there are constraints that avoid SuperCell to do it otherwise it should have been already done.

No you are not alone! All Clash of Clans players I know are suffering of this; unfortunately in silence…
In the clan I am a member we are using intensively the chat to work on our strategy. I can tell you that even the strongest defenders of good writing are giving up.

Hi KingOfSaints, I agree with you that chat content censoring is a serious problem but it is not the purpose of my request. I’m talking about standard mobile keyboard behaviour that most of mobile apps leverage. I encourage you to create a dedicated discussion thread for this interesting topic.
