the rate that SC is going with this game wit the updates they drop it makes no sense staying at TH9 for the next 6-8 mnths just to farm lava walls and have same level spells and troops and defense buildings that u had before u started the grind....in the next 6-8 months you'd finally have your maxed walls but guess what? more than likely a new TH level will come out by then so your gonna have alottttt of catching up to do by having to go through the ridiculous prices of TH10 upgrades and all your lab research as well

As you see, all I lack are the outer walls for each of my compartments. I am averaging roughly 20 per week so I think I can be done with them in late January. This is an achievable rate for a casual to active farmer. I try to to keep gold and elixir 1.5M apart (though don't always succeed) so I never offer 350k of each at the same time. I have kept some skulls for this purpose (If I have 2m of each, I will upgrade a skull), and now I also have lvl12 collectors to help with this. This probably isn't necessary b/c I usually just get sniped and have only lost any significant amount of resources once during the whole gring to a TH10 with 30+ heroes who used 5 spells.
The grind has given me time to almost finish my lab. As you see I am working on valks now so that should let you know where my lab is, haha. My heores are dreadfully low for where I am right now and I plan on keeping the queen going nonstop (she is going to 22). Maybe with the Th upgrade time I can get her to 30. The Bk however is another story. He is only 16 now and I don't really play enough to keep them both going at the same time plus finish my valks/hounds. I am hoping after I get to 10 I can use my lvl 30 queen to ease the transition period and use my de to work on Bk nonstop for a couple of months.
I know I probably gave you 10x more info than you wanted, but to sum it up I think you should do it now if you ever want them. Based on what I hear from Th10s, you can get lavas now faster than you can get legos as a 10. A no-brainer imo.

I'm in a similar situation as the OP. I would prefer to max everything out before going to th10 but that's not possible without wasting a lot of loot.
My plan is to work on lavas and heroes until either heroes or lavas are maxed out. I'm not going to continue to raid when my walls are maxed and I have nothing to do with my gold/elixir or my heroes are maxed and I have nothing to do with my de. I'm guessing my walls will max first and my heroes will be in the mid 20's when I go to th10.
There is absolutely NO good reason to farm lavas at a TH9. For maximum effectiveness your goal should ALWAYS be to keep builders working. Loot isn't any better at TH9 than it is at TH10, that is a complete fallacy.
