Obstacle Question

How many available spaces on your base are needed for an obstacle to spawn? I have 10-2x2 spaces on my base next to the Halloween Headstone I got for Halloween and I am trying to get an X-Mas tree to spawn near it. Will one spawn with 20 spaces available?

If you want it near your headstone that would be the best way, but it may limit the probability of getting 1. Sc did announce everyone will get 1 sooner or later, but maybe limiting yourself to 22 spawn points as opposed to 100s may kill the odds.
