The Troop Level Icon is ugly and distracting
The glaringly large number next to a picture of a level 1 troop glares at me everytime and stumbles my vision. It may be my unfamiliarity with the new, but this needs to be changed.
Reasons to change this
1)It's just aesthetically bad. Some sort of visual representation would be better than a numerical one. Add that to the fact that troops change their look every few levels or so. So I'm stuck looking at a lvl 1 archer, confusing myself over the 90 (number of archers) and the 5 and stumbling around the screen trying to figure what I was trying to see.
2)They are like heroes now. To me the number make me feel like they are heroes with a large level maximum. Subconsciously I can't differentiate between heroes and troops to much with this new format.
Reasons not to change this (with counter-reasons)
1)7 stars is hard to distinguish visually. You get confused between the number of stars and have to actually count.
To solve this, we can have a different visualization. Maybe two rows of five stars for a potential lvl 10 troop (not suggesting lvl 10 troops...)
2)it doesn't affect gameplay, get over it.
Yes, but it's distracting in battle and when looking at camps (for me at least). Sometimes I will stall troop placements when I'm trying to get the numbers precise and often over shoot.
---------------
Here is what I suggest to change this. Please vote and give me some feedback.
Option 1:: use two rows of the same stars that we used to have. Each row has a small amount of stars. Unless we get to lvl11 troops I don't think we would have issues with stars covering up the entire icon. People might argue that you have to count. For me, the troop level indicator only served as a small glimpse into the strength of the troop (oh cool, lots of star, so like lvl5 or 6). The reason I rarely countis because...(see next suggestion)
Option 2:: Put a picture of the different troop levels as the icon. Normally, I get the lvl of a troop when I watch the actual replay and see the troops'appearance. Potential problem is that the number is still distracting, and some troops face don't change too much (giants for example)
Option 3:: make the troop level indicating number a little smaller and less distracting. I find the max level gold flame indicator to be a lot less distracting than the normal ones. Either soften the colour of the black background or shrink th indicator.
Option 4:: Use Roman Numerals instead of numbers in the troop level indicator. This would lessen confusion and hopefully decrease the attention given to the troop level indicator
Thanks for reading that. It was a handful, but hopefully it was informative.
