You wouldnt actually be doing anything. Just sitting there while your base gets attacked. Survival modes in other games actually require you to do something active. What you seem to be suggesting is some sort of base testing mode where you click test and a mock attack takes place. This is already done through normal attacks. Watch your defending replays to find your weak spots.
The idea has a lot of potential, but I can't see how it could be implemented without having its own dedicated arena like clanwars. For instance, you couldn't have it arbitrarily start when you're under shield and have a cc set for clanwars.
I love the idea of being able to test your base, but think that it should be based on defending against successive waves of attackers. That is, that you get attacked by waves of attackers till you get taken down.
If the "loss" is a three star, then you would need to have traps and cc that don't rearm. If a "loss" is the town hall getting taken down that's a bit more interesting, you could have rearming traps and cc.
So yeah, some questions that come up assuming that it's done in waves
* Is this run in a separate arena or can it happen on your own base?
* If on your own base, can you nominate a time to start it. For instance it could be once per week.
* Do you get to view and show a replay (or even live replay) to clanmates. I can imagine scenarios where I have to get interrupted mid battle and quit out to check back later. Waves could well take 10 or 20 minutes to play through at high levels.
* What sort of prize do you get - there would have to be an award of significant value especially if you're asking clanmates to invest in a special set of clan castle troops. Prizes could include gems (unlikely) but more likely to be something like an amount of gold/elix/dark based on value of attacking waves.
* Will all attacking waves be identical, or would supercell be employing someone to develop a random set of wave attacks that change constantly.
One tweak could be that (assuming preset waves, increasing, with prizes based on the value of that wave) that you nominate a certain level of AI to start the waves at. You skip lower value waves to have traps and CC available for higher level waves.
Still... I can hear the cynics telling me in my ear, it's not going to happen without a tweak to encourage more gemming. Perhaps bonus is for the clan, not the individual... dunno. Are heroes available? Upgrading buildings? So many questions... but we can dream a little. Perhaps Mastermind can pick this one up now that his saved layouts idea has been implemented.
