Elixir Walls

If walls are under level 8 then they can't be upgraded with elixir. I have the solution for under level 8 walls ONLY. And here it is:

If walls are under level 8, then allow them to be upgraded with elixir only if the storages are at least half full. This will mean elixir can't be dumped into walls, only if it is overflowing and almost or past the loot steal cap. People can't upgrade walls randomly, but if they are maxed, then they can. Level 8 walls and up will remain the same and be able to be upgraded by elixir either way.

Why not just make it so level 7 walls and below can only be upgraded if you have 1 mil elixir or more.

A half full storage is too ambiguous.

on second thought 1 million makes perfect sense

since level 9 walls cost 1 million then thats already in effect

if lower, then 1 million is required regardless of price

hey how about this?

it is real simple.

when you have 75k gold, you can buy a level 6 wall.
when you have 200k gold, you can buy a level 7 wall
when you have 500k gold, you can buy level 8 wall
when you have 1million gold OR elixir, you can buy a level 9 wall

A whole bunch of us have played for 2 years and got our walls to lvl 10 with gold. We did just fine. Get over it.

At least you put a bit of thought into your idea, where you try to allow elixir storages to fill up before it can be dumped on walls. So well done there.

Not sure SuperCell will get that technical with it though.

Players need to think of elixir walls as a bonus, not as a common part of the game. As it was never intended to be available at all.

most of my walls are level 8 so i can easily upgrade those to 9 with elixir while simultaneously finishing level 8 with gold

bring back the level 6 walls can be upgraded using elixer., that upgdate is quietly fine.. why did they need to remove it and make it to level 8 above..

With this update the amt. Of gold to farm is drastically reduced, was this just to appease th10 players?

They should have let us upgrade lvl 1-8 walls with gold and elixer and 9+ with gold only so all the th9 and 10 ppl stop complaining about not having enough elixir to raid.

You do realise that lvl 9+ walls cost millions? 6 lvl 8 walls cost the same amount as a lvl 10 wall. So yeah, they need elixir.

The only ones that have been complaining about elixir being hard to find is th9 and 10s I never had a problem finding people with elixir. Therefore they shouldn't be able to use up their elixir in walls to solve their problem ♥♥♥♥♥

Imagine playing as a th9 or th10 LEGIT. You have 7 archer towers, all costing 6.5 mil to upgrade to level 12. You manage to finnally upgrade them all to level 12 but wait! There are now level 13 archer towers waiting! This means that you CANNOT spend your gold on walls, and need to use up elixir for walls costing 4mil each! But at your town hall (I'm guessing 8) your buildings cost way less! Oh and to top it all of, you guys don't have a loot penalty! Yes, you guys can make gold very easily and upgrade your walls costing only 500k each!

This is exactly why it should be brought back to lower levels. Gold for defences and elixir for walls.

What loot penalty raid people th10 and problem solved.

The exact same scenario is for us too we have 3x the defences to upgrade then barracks. We are out of gold to upgrade walls and we have extra elixir.

You high Town halls don't get the picture till you get put in our shoes.

You wouldn't be too happy about that update now would u?

Well, it's ridiculously hard for me to raid a th10 with all their infernos and X bows killing my BAM. So that leaves other th9's. Th10's can Attack th9's so that means th9 would be bad th for loot. th10 can attack th9 and get a ton of loot, Th9 can attack th8 and get lots of loot unless the th8's spend Thier Elixer and gold on walls, th8 attacks th7 which will spend all thier loot on walls, etc.

BTW a recent study has shown that everyone is ATLEAST 50th cousins with each other, stop insulting your family.

I'm th10, so I've been in your position (back when walls couldn't be upgraded with elixir). You havnt been in my position. So whatever you say about higher town halls is most likely incorrect. Yes back when I was a th8 I had full elixir storages and guess what? I still do now because all my builders are busy working on 14 day upgrades!

You have never been in my position. Because when you were lower town hall u couldn't use elixir. And now u can. Back when I was lower than I could use elixir and now I can't.

If u wanna know how we feel then remove the elixir to upgrade walls for all lvl walls. That's how you make it fair.

Yes I agree, remove elixir for upgrades for all walls, Just like before he elixir wall update, then we could train stronger armies when we max our troop levels for each town hall, so I could crush other people's bases for gold:).

Its because of those noobs that the elixir walls got removed for the lower than levels in the first place. Let them suffer too, they did it at lower town halls they can do it at high th's ♥♥♥♥♥

Because spells cost 60k elixir, troops x100k elixir. Repairing from raids is 130k gold it cancels out. From that I get 300k elixir and 300k gold.

And no one cares about what u did in the past, u had op heroes why not qq about how op they were and we need to get them back.

And I wouldn't play this game if I was playing for others. I mean if you want to be my guest.

I'll leave my storages out for a week but you gotta give me 2000 gems. Sounds fair right? I think so.

It was only meant to balance at the high levels, lvl6 was too low so they moved it to lvl9. Thats what marika said anyway.
Its only at the high lvls that there is a huge disparity in demand for gold and elixir after all. Since walls cost a billion to upgrade.

In my eyes I thought it brought balance to game. I got all my Legos and Lavas done.

Overall it the change brought a mayor elixir drought into most people.

If you planning on maxing you base totally removing the elixir for walls level 8 and below is the best thing they could have done for you. My advice once you get defenses maxed as Th 8 or earlier go to Th 9. There you can put the elixir to good use.

Might not enjoy Th 8 but once at TH 9 you will now find a lot more elixir at Th 8 before the last update.

If planning on not fully maxing your base past Skulls, then go cry in a corner.

The change is best thing the could do to help Th 9 and 10 fully max their walls. You will just lose some elixir at TH 8 or get yourself to Th 9 early where you can use the elixir for walls once you got a few skulls.

Nice base had a look. I would max my defenses and get yourself to TH 9. Reckon most skulls will be done by that time.

Creating a situation which takes all the elixir out of the game is not balanced.

I find it very amusing how TH8 are complaining so much about losing one thing [which never should have happened in the first place]. And seem to be completely ignoring the fact they can to unlock lv 12 collectors / mines and get a second drill.

That is a massive boost for TH8.

This is how Clash of Clans works, sometimes you get good things, sometimes you don't. The game is constantly evolving, you as a clasher need to as well.

Sure you lost elixir walls, but what you gained compensates it just fine. AND you will be better off for it when you get to TH9.

It really is a win win, will the TH8 please learn to lift their eyes and see the big picture. This update is good for the long term health of the game.

Clash of Clans is built to last years.

As for the original posters idea, it is not a bad one; but too technical. It is not a can of worms that should be opened, it would open up too many intricate possibilities.

I repeat my question here:

Who guarantee that I could upgrade lvl9+ walls with elixir 4 months later when I reach TH9?

Now You TH9 and TH10 are glad to dump elixir on your walls but when rules are changed time to time I cannot rely on it.

Same is for current update. When I was TH6 I had to upgrade my walls with gold but the guy in TH7 and TH8 use elixir. Now i reach TH7 but rules are changed and again I have to upgrade with gold.

Who knows in the future when I reach TH9 I finally could upgrade my walls with elixir.

IMO the only way to solve this issue is undoing all elixir-built walls in all past period of time.
It seems impossible solution so there is no solution.

Lol, the feature is gone, move on, its ok, still getting lvl 8 walls is not that tough, i did some lvl 11 walls with gold, all lvl 10 i did all with gold. So get them to lvl 8 and upgrade to th9. 😊

You know very well that cannot be guaranteed.

But often when SuperCell do something like this, they provide compensation.

5-6 months ago SuperCell nerfed our heroes beyond belief, it was an epic blow to high level players - but next update they considerably slashed regeneration time to compensate.

Here SuperCell have provided you immediate compensation. Yes, you lost elixir walls for skulls. But TH8 gained a precious 2nd DE drill [I would have killed for that when I was TH8, but that is just how it is] AND lv 12 mines & collectors.

You get to benefit from those things for a far greater period of time than we ever did.

That is just how the game works, SuperCell are doing a good job keeping things in balance. The game will never be the same as 6 months ago - and it will not be the same in 6 months time either.

It keeps evolving, and there are many thousands of players still here having played the game for 2 years now and still enjoy it despite constant changes. You will always get haters, but you know the saying. Haters will hate, and they are still here too aren't they?

SuperCell know what they are doing. It has taken me a while but I now truly believe that. Very few companies have a game this powerful and still growing after it is 2 years old.

Try to look more at the new things you get [in this case a 2nd drill and lv 12 collectors], as opposed to what you have lost [in this case elixir walls for skulls]. The game is far more enjoyable that way.

Please give us back elixir walll!!!!!!!!!!

Given SuperCell just reverted it that isn't going to happen. SuperCell have never fully reversed a single update before, never. They aren't going to start now.

Instead, how about come up with some detailed suggestions to SuperCell on ways to use that extra elixir you have. As that is what most of the frustration from TH7 & TH8 players stems from. You don't want to have elixir you cannot use.

I dont complain even when everything is against me :))
I can deal with everything and still move on fast.
When i reached TH7 I could get BK in 4:45 minutes after building the DE storage and could upgrade it non-stop to lvl5 in 6 days.
Now drill is coming to TH7 and I dont need it LOL. I put my full 20K DE storage expose for people benefit!!!
I Also put my elixir expose with nearly 4 Million because i dont need it too LOL.
Yes I can donate and build a costly army with that elixir and DE but both of them (donate and costly army) are time consuming and I prefer to use my time raiding and loot gold for my walls. I use the fastest army BAM with some WB.

I hope you could find me and raid me!!!

My laboratory upgrade finishes in 4 days and I can spend a little there, but I'd rather upgrade dark troops.

In the mean time my base is a target for TH9 bases that actually have a use for elixir.

I can't manage my resources by keeping them low to avoid being a target.

I don't want to raid because I know I'll get immediately hit.

You solved a small problem by creating a much, much larger problem. If there aren't enough of a type of resources in the game the solution is not to make it so that for a certain population there is nothing to spend it on.

I may be done with this game - this change ruined it.

We should either go back to it not being able to be used for walls at any level, or find a workable solution which would allow level 7-11 walls to use it again without breaking the economy at TH9/10 like the initial release did.

You can drop trophies. Gold 3 worked great for me. Even with the update I still had overflowing elixir. Youre more likely to get sniped.

Or you could just upgrade your TH if having too much elixir is that much of a problem for you.

use those elixir for raids and turn them to gold.

Use GoWiPe, use mass dragon, have fun raiding, donate Expensive troops like Pekka or Dragons to clanmates, that's how the game suppose to be played

This right here is the reason, the th8s/9s/10s that have a need for elixir and there was no way for them to get it because people didn't have to save up elixir for anything so always had nothing to offer. Elixir is the resource that keeps this game going since you need it for training troops.

If you are overflowing elixir then it doesn't matter it someone comes and takes 300k, heck throw an elixir storage outside so they can take it with the snipe.

Remember this is a very recent change that you could do it at all and it made the game extremely difficult for young th8s/9s/10s that need lots of elixir. So build some dragons to donate get those barracks upgraded and be thankful you had some time to upgrade skulls with elixir because nobody else is going to get that chance.

Coming from a th8 with near max elixir and 100/250 skulls.

Very good point, TH9 is in dire need for elixir and up until now TH8 is their primary source, until an update which allow TH8 to dump their elixir on walls.

But now those problems has been fixed.

I was a TH8 myself and got looted a lot by TH9 especially for elixir since i have no use for them, i just spend them on training dragons.

The only reason TH9s+ have a constant need for elixir now is b/c they are still allowed to use the elixir for walls, that is what he's saying. If SC never allowed elixir for walls (which they probably should have done), as a TH9 you wouldn't need elixir after taking care of the initial big ticket upgrades as well.

Don't look down on this TH8 and tell him "well you don't need it but I as a TH9 need it for walls," that is so hypocritical. It should have been either completely removed with this recent update, or modified so that there is a restriction for how all TH7-10s can use it without allowing it to break the economy. The latter is exactly what he suggested, when he proposed that they require a minimum in elixir storages before being able to use it on walls.

maybe they will do it next update if most people really think that TH10 can't get enough elixir.

However i think at most they will increase the level requirement, not disabling it completely

You missed quoting the part where I said I was a townhall 8 with overflowing elixir and only half my walls done. Did I enjoy using elixir for walls? Yes I did. Do I think it was right for the game, no.

And I never said th9s need a continuous stream of elixir through the whole time of being th9 but at the beginning you need a very high amount (compared to any of the lower th levels).

I also never said that the latest update is the right solution as it doesn't fix the issues for th10s. What's the right solution? I don't know, your solution could work but why not do the same thing with gold for wall upgrades only allow it when you have max available loot.

All I said was he is complaining saying they broke the game when they partially removed something that had only been in place for a short amount of time and pointing out this was a very short point of view he would be regretting when he was trying to save up the 100M elixir required by th9s (much of it at the beginning with weak defenses and weak raiding army).

And he didn't suggest bringing in a way for th7-9 to use elixir without breaking the economy he just said give me back my elixir walls because they help me now.

Elixir for walls lasted for a month or so.... reverting it somehow makes an HORRIBLE impact on game play?

I disagree that this change does nothing for TH10s. People are assuming that all or most TH9s (or even 10s) have skull walls or higher. A lot don't, so they can't dump elixir into walls. Plus it's much harder to use walls as an elixir dump when they cost 1, 3, or 4M apiece, coupled with expensive upgrades they must save for.

I think TH10s will benefit greatly. Give it time to balance out.

So not fixing it. That's why I posted that thread though, b/c they wouldn't have to keep slapping these half-a**ed band-aid fixes to the problems it causes. They could even go back to allowing it on all walls lvl 7-11 without causing these issues that they are currently simply mitigating to a smaller concentration of THs, instead of fixing the problem at the source.

My fault for assuming you were a TH9. I am very aware of the large initial elixir investment needed to overcome the immediate loot penalty faced when upgrading to TH9. I've done it on two accounts. But TH10 has yet another, larger initial elixir investment as well. So goes the way of these types of progression games, right? This won't help the problems TH10s face, which is why I'm pointing out that the elixir for walls system needs to be fixed entirely, not just chopped from one end until it only breaks the economy for a smaller subset of players. But you made it clear that you understand this problem as well.

Looking back, I also saw he didn't provide that minimal loot suggestion. With all these constant elixir threads I must have gotten my OPs mixed up with someone else who said a similar thing, regarding having 1M or 2M in storages first. My bad, I apologize. Yes, this particular person's view is very short-sighted, but it doesn't negate the fact that this update is still broken for a different reason entirely.

Players who make it to TH9/10 and don't immediately quit (like unaware gemmers, or poorly-planned rushers) end up being the most active types of players. It's not just b/c the more dedicated reach that point, although that is a reason. It's b/c it's required that you become more active in order to hit these upgrades that need session raiding, smart resource management, and understanding leagues where you will/won't be at risk to lose lots in resources. TH9s w/o skull walls will quickly adapt and upgrade a few to skull using gold, then be able to dump no longer needed elixir into those walls. This is so easy to get around.

That's why it was so painfully predictable that this would happen in the first place with the initial update. This directly changed things for TH7/8/9s, but only TH9s to the extent of raiding TH8s. This is b/c SC slapped a band-aid fix that would directly impact those players. How will this change benefit TH10s at all, let alone "greatly?" The update did absolutely nothing that would directly fix the problems that previously TH10/9s, and to a smaller extent TH8s faced.

Yes, in the very very long-run of things, a larger chunk of players will be working on their zap walls, requiring them to hold a raidable amount of loot, if even for just a sliver of time before accumulating enough to dump it. Maybe they log off with a large amount in storages, maybe they don't. But that is so "down the road, endgame picture, best case scenario" that you shouldn't use it to counter the very real, very immediate effect this will continue to have on the economy.

Marika said elixir walls were only meant for high level walls, presumably to make the grind easier and at the same time make elixir useful again for the higher ths who have to spend several months at th9 and the rest of their coc life at th10. lvl 8 walls are too cheap and don't need to be balanced with elixir, furthermore you can be in and out of th8 in under a month.

There is no reason to bring elixir walls to lvl8, and if you want to argue to move it up to lvl10 walls or remove it completely you will have to come up with a better argument, one that overweighs all the potential benefits of elixir walls at high lvls.

I will give you the one and only argument I need to tell you why it outweighs the only (not "all") potential benefit of elixir walls at high levels: the past 3 months' economy with this update in place.

Reason for removing it entirely: There were no detrimental effects on the economy that this had before elixir for walls became a thing. Stop using the same logic to refute the arguements for why TH8s want it back while trying to argue your reason for it being allowed for you. "They don't need the elixir at that level for walls while I do." No, you don't either. Does it cost considerably more for the TH9/10 walls? Absolutely. Over 10 fold collectively vs the previous 8 levels, if I'm not mistaken. But that doesn't mean you should be able to use elixir for it,while TH7/8s can't b/c somehow they broke the economy with the way it was, but not the TH9s and TH10s. "Oh no, they'll use this feature responsibly." What a load of bull.

And if they made it only for lvl 11 walls we would see the same arguments being made by TH9s on here, b/c they got a taste and despite what it did to the economy, they would want it back.

I already presented the best way to handle this, which would allow it again for lvls 7-11. You thought it was "ridiculous" b/c it required that if you so chose to use elixir instead of gold to do your very endgame wall piece upgrades, you'd need to cap your elixir storage at 8M first. Although it was never ridiculous to not allow elixir to be used on walls in the first place as of 3 months ago, and the proposal I made is certainly less ridiculous than that.

You know what, you're the one who's ridiculous for hating it purely b/c it wouldn't benefit you in the same uncompromising way that the TH8s are complaining about. You're no better than them. And at least they're actually children who simply don't understand the effects it had on the overall economy. You're just choosing to act like a child and be selfish.

U know how u made it lvl 9+ walls could be upgraded with elixer, i think it should be lvl 8+ cause thats when walls start to become overpriced. A lot of lpayers stop playing because they get bored upgrading walls. Make it easy.

Walls were never supposed to be easy as you can tell from the only recent update to up them with Elixir. That being said, the elixir drought these past two months have been because of, in part, the elixir wall update at l6+walls. By pushing it back to lvl9+ walls, elixir will slowly make its way back into the economy for everyone, especially at the higher levels

Keep in mind that there are TH10s who farmed ALL the walls with gold. You have taken elixir for walls for granted, and that is the only reason why you are complaining.

Walls were never supposed to be easy, and for that reason anyone can make the valid argument that they should still continue to only be used with gold. Letting lvls 9-11 do it takes the argument that you just made for not allowing lvl 7-8 to be done with elixir and contradicts itself. It is literally making it easier by allowing twice the amount of resources eligible to upgrade it.

The elixir drought (which quickly led to the overall broken economy) was not b/c of lvl 6-7 walls being able to be upgraded, it was b/c lvl 6-10 walls were able to be upgraded regardless of the amount of elixir you were holding. The update was lazily implemented, and predictably it destroyed the economy almost overnight. By pushing it back to lvl 9+ walls, elixir will not slowly make its way back, it will immediately make its way back... to TH7/8s, and TH9s if they are farming TH8s. It will not do anything for TH10s.

Removing the feature entirely would be totally fine. Any TH9/10s who try and say otherwise are not seeing how hypocritcal they're being when they criticize TH8s using the pathetic argument "it's not that much to do lvl 8 walls, you don't need it" but Hoh boy, it's completely needed for your arbitrary amount.

On the other hand, keeping elixir from becoming valueless for established THs is a neat idea, and there is no reason why TH7s and above can't do it w/o it breaking the economy. I posted how that would be easily achievable right here:
