Why we NEED an opt in/out feature ASAP

Actually you brought it up. It was pretty much your entire counter argument. You reply so far was correct. Why is resident opposition not overcoming it in all the other places where it is happening. How was the public bought off that the residents don't get the support of the majority?

You claim you don't want permanent non-warring members in your clan yet you are advocating a system where this condition will rife. The fundamental difference between kick reinvite and an opt out system is that one is temporary and the other is permanent. Kick reinvite does not encourage permanent non warring players to be in warring clans. The rife of mixed clan in a long term basis will have massive impact in clan wars. We've been there on that topic.

To the Original Poster,

I agree an opt in/out feature would be beneficial - but it is not required. It would make things much simpler though.

My clan had similar struggles when Clan Wars first started.
We lost a few of our best members who simply did not want to participate. They felt guilty when their attacks failed and they felt like they were letting their friends and Clan Mates down (even when we won the war). Some would leave & come back as observers for the next war, but we lost a few permanently, which did cause grief and loss of morale within the clan.

While I do not have an answer that works for every clan - I do have a work-around that works for my clan.

I simply created a separate war clan. The main clan stays in place 24/7. The war clan gets populated the day of the search. Clan mails are sent out at the main clan directing members to the war clan (by name & clan tag) along with the time/date of the war search commencing. This has worked well for us so far. Our war-mongers are happy, and the farmers (a significant part of the clan core) do not feel badly about not joining in. There is no pressure to attend every war - if work or RL interfere, simply stay in the main clan. At war's end, everyone but one (a placeholder account I control) returns to the main clan.

Now this only works really well for us because I have CoC loaded on 5 devices in my home. There is never a risk of a co-lead going haywire or losing control of either clan. I use an itouch (which is a pita to use for CoC btw) for leader of the war clan when no wars are taking place. Then I move leadership of the main clan to either my wife or a daughter, shift myself over to the war clan, take charge there, then move the iTouch account to the main clan & take Leader there. War logs are retained and everyone has been pretty happy overall.

If you do not have multiple devices (or game centers, whatever), then hopefully you can trust a co-lead to mind the shop as leader pro tem while you are in the war clan. You could create a new war clan each time if you do not have a placeholder account available to use for continuity.

I dont understand what split culture you refer to between th levels but clans would obviously be more willing to keep members around who never war, this number may rise and less than half a clan may go to war at a given time. At the moment very few clans go to such great lengths because it is too much of a pain. The game will not encourage or institutionalise such behaviour, or at least they shouldnt. This is because it will vastly increase the amount of clans doing something they claim to be against.

hate to be blunt, but if your desperate for this feature, maybe you need to rethink who stays in your clan and who dosent. if a member is unavailable for a war, either dont start a war, or deal with it, honestly guys, this isnt needed for any clan who is able to manage there people

It depends what our values are. If it was only to win war and there was no friendship factor (so if a guy is not ready and willing to win a war right now the heck with them) then I would agree the feature would not mean much. But if clans are together for other reasons (whatever floats their boat) but still like to have the war activity mixed in their too then they desperately need it. There are many permutations, I was just giving to extremes to name a group it would not matter to and a group it would be urgent to.

Speaking for myself I want to opt out my lower players like the detractors are worried people will. I want to do exactly that and will start doing so as soon as I get the feature.

To me its more about the thrill of competition than easy wins so I want tougher wars.

He is saying he would rather only use opt in/out for temporary non warring members and not kick those. For permanent non warring he is agreeing with you that (in his specific clan, another might feel differently) in those cases he does not need any feature, those he would still just kick even if opting them out was indeed an option.

Then we are all in agreement. An opt out system cannot and should not be implemented unless the permanent 2 tier clan issue is addressed effectively.

No, I mentioned that this pertained to that one situations in his one clan. IN other situations he wants the feature. And other clans can want the feature in all situations. I think you are tunnel visioning on single situations looking for one that will fit the argument you want to make. I would ask you to see and embrace the big picture (which will include points of view you both do and don't share) but understood you don't wish to. (which is ok, if I am going to advocate in favor of free choice then I gotta respect that one too.)
