Why max out completely. My cannons, wiz towers, mortars, clan castle, and 1 air defense are max. My archer towers are lv9, my teslas are lv4, my remaining aor defenses are lv5, ans walls are lv7. The troops I use are max. I dont want to be too far behind but im starting to get bored. So the question is why max out? Will I be too far behind? Should I rush?

You need to max out because getting loot is really hard at the next town hall level so you need to get as many upgrades as you can while loot is easier. It saves you time overall.
This is your choice. Stay as much as you can. When you get bored move to the next th lvl. I'm at th9 and maxing still not bored maybe because I wan't to beat someone :p but this is your choice at the end. Stay and max out for as much as you can

If you are bored at th8, you will get bored faster at th9. The upgrades continue to get more expensive and take long to complete. You will open yourself up to being demolished by th10's as well (I love it when I find th9's with low level defenses, i don't even need to use all my troops to rob them blind).
Your only defense will be to either raid more than you get attacked and be in a mad scramble to upgrade your defenses or you will drop down to where no one will really Attack you. But then you'll be on here posting how terrible the loot is.
max your troops and defenses. If you want to go to th9 with lvl 7 walls, it wouldn't be the end of the world.
People saying to max dont seem to know what they are talking about OP. I went to th9 with all purple walls. I got my AQ the first day and both xbows (saved for both from th8). I upgraded all 4 camps, got the extra spell and since then, ive been a way better farmer. Lvl 6 barch, ballons, lvl5 minions, the extra spell and more defenses make up for those silly walls. I got my skulls at th9 and lvl 9 walls and i never found a problem. I hardly get raided.
Im holding 50,000 De right now, using the mind blower base, and i havent been raided in days. I only get th snipes... All the real raids fail to touch my DE. Go ahead and stay at th8 for 100million gold and a lot of elixir... You will miss out on much better defense and offense offered by buildings. Once you get the 4 wizard towers maxed, people will start to raid you less...
100 million gold = maxed wizard towers, maxed xbows, maxed mortars, tons of goodiesl.
Lets say you make about 60 to 70 million elixir ( counting you spend a lot on armies )
70million elixir = All 4 army camps maxed (220), a new spell, barch to lvl 6, giants to lvl 6, ballons to lvl 6
Lets just assume you arent actively looking for DE, but make 400 to 500 a raid. Thats how much i can make when not looking for it, bases at 1900 to 2100 carry that much almost always. Lets assume you get 200,000 of each resource every raid ( ethier lucky or hit lots of next ), that means, about 500 raids to 100million gold.
500 x 500 ( raids vs average DE ) adds up to 250,000 DE...
So its your choice of , maxed offensive power, the ability to raid in crystal III, II and I, plus masters, hitting th10's for DE, 250,000 DE, maxed splashed defenses ( the new wizard towers is a beast in damage, plus the look is intimidating ), maxed xbows, extra 5 spaces for CC... Its that or 200 skulls that wont protect you vs a th9... A maxed th8 cant survive a good th9 raider. But a maxed th9 with purple walls will survive just fine vs a th9 :D

In the end, do whatever you want. I just want you to know, all these people against rushing have never rushed and dont know what its like. Personally, i feel its more exciting... Its up to you. Read that thread, it will share some light on someone who actually has experience on this matter, unlike some people saying loot is very bad or that you will get wrecked. If you want, I can take pictures of all my attack logs for a week, you will see loot is fine at th9 !!

i rushed to th8. So I have first hand experience on what rushing is like until then. Then add all the clan mates I've helped desperately try to get there game back in line. Rushing DOES hurt you. Of course, it's also a subjective term as having level 2 wizards at th9 is not the same as having level 4 wizards for example.Quote:

But with updates like the 4th mortar and the archer tower, just upgrading your barbs and archers may not be enough any more.
