I like the idea, but this is something that, while pretty cool, would take a lot of time to script, load, play, and would make the game a lot more laggy. Plus, if this goes on the server, it'd be a lot of work for the server to run it.

Actually, it would all be client side. Unless something else is added that requires server input, it would likely not impact the server directly at all. If anything, on old devices running a 3D version, thier lag could slow things down for the server, and would get stalled live battle feeds every now and then. Only thing the server does is figure out unit locations, attack timing, projectile travel times, range checks, and many other misc things. It does nothing with graphics rendering. It just gives raw data of where units are and what they are doing. Your copy of the app on your computer or devices takes that info and paints a neat moving picture of what is happening using pre-rendered animated sprites, simple object physics, and sound files, while wrapping it all up in a artistically done user interface.
Mind you, this is just a guess, but I have taken computer science classes in college, and have played around with game mods and first person shooter map building before. :p
So good idea or bad? 3D could be fun and depending on how good supercell is and there equipment they might be able to make this happen. If you've played plunder pirates it's kinda like that view that would be cool to use.
I like it. But I don't know if the gimmick of a 3D map is worth the effort in Supercell's eyes. A new app would likely have to be made, and would have to be compatible with the same data and functionality the original app uses and be no more or less than that; which means all of the features added to the 3D version would be all graphic features, with no other features the original couldn't otherwise do.
A compromise would be an add on app, where it installs on top of the original Clash of Clans app, and allow for 3D view. That will help with device compatibly, where less powerful devices don't have to have that extra feature take up space and processing overhead, while others can have it, at the player's preference.
If you'he seen the commercials, (check your News Tab for current, humorous videos) Supercell is able to do quite a bit of 3D art, so making the 3D models for mobile use isn't going to be too hard. The 3D models will likely be less detailed than on the videos, but would be high quality nonetheless.
Bottom line, it comes down to is a 3D view alone going to add enough to the game's popularity and enjoyment to be worth the time/money/effort put into it?
I totally agree with this but the problem is that it will consume more data
This could be useful update cause I seem to have a problem with the angle right now and that is I can't find some bombs in the angle. I already lost 1 bomb because I don't know where it is so this update would make it easier to find it. From another point of view, this would be cool in a way. What if we saw the battle in the eyes of a soldier in replay mode. This could require a lot of programming but the possibilities are endless.
How? Is the server streaming game graphics to you?
Let me answer that, No. The server will still send the same amount of data. Only time more data would be sent is when installing the new feature. There is no good reason to send more data game than what is currently being done, just because it is suddenly true 3D graphics.
You mean allow for just a simple set 90° angle rotate? That could work with just modifying the current game engine, but the need to make more graphic sprites showing the back of buildings would be needed.
As for the idea of real 3D graphics, I still say a separate app add-on that works on top of the core system of the original CoC app would solve the issue with device issues, download size, and still keep the feature optional and not burden others with unwanted app bloat.
I dont think the objects in base are technically 3D. Hell, they use a cheap technique that i use on my signature to mimic grass on objects, trust me its not really 3D and they'd have to redesign the entire game to give us that ability.
