X-Mas tree: Noob Question

So I have the Christmas tree, but is the only benefit of keeping it the looks? I heard that it gives presents: but how often? And how do you know when you're collecting a present vs removing the tree itself? Lastly, what reward do you get if you do remove it?

Many of us keep the "special" obstacles as a sign of how long we have played. It's kind of a badge of honor. Not sure how often the presents will pop up as this is new for this year. I do know each present gives 5k elixir. With previous trees it was 25k gold to remove but paid out 75k so there is a profit if you choose not to keep them

More important, do you get more than 1 present at a time

I would keep it just because it is a cool object to decorate the out-skirts of your base with. Just like the Halloween gravestones. Just cool items to keep for memories.:p
