Should There Be a Run Rule" in Clan Wars?

Okay, so I am in Kings Dungeon and we find ourselves facing a lot of clans who simply give up or "surrender" (as I'm sure many other top notch war clans do). BORING RIGHT? Well me and my clan mates were chattin' it up about how it sucked that we had to wait 24 hours to start another war when the other clan wasn't even attempting to fight back. A couple guys were like, "Oh their should be a surrender button so that they don't have to fight us if they don't want to." Well that is a good idea, but it might ruin the game because top notch war clans might never get a matchup who wants to war with them. It would just be like hitting "next base" on multiplayer.

That is when I sparked the idea of having a Clan War "Run Rule" so to say, and everybody loved it. The basis of the idea is just like when you were playing little league baseball as a kid. You have to get up a certain number of runs, and it only works after a certain number of innings. This translate perfectly to clan wars - you get up a certain number of stars after a certain number of hours. Let me give you my opinion of what the numbers should be. If you like them let me know, but of course they can change according to the majority opinion.


CLAN WAR RUN RULE:

-Clan war ends if the winning clan is up by 66.67% (2/3) of total stars capable (tsc), after 12 hours.
-Clan war ends if the winning clan is up by only 50% (1/2) of tsc, after 16 hours.


I'll explain this a little better for you dummies out there.

-10v10-
-30 tsc
-winning clan must be up by 20 stars after 12 hours
-winning clan must be up by 15 stars after 16 hours

-15v15-
-45 tsc
-winning clan must be up by 30 stars after 12 hours
-winning clan must be up by 23 stars after 16 hours (always round up)

-20v20-
-60 tsc
-winning clan must be up by 40 stars after 12 hours
-winning clan must be up by 30 stars after 16 hours

-25v25-
-75 tsc
-winning clan must be up by 50 stars after 12 hours
-winning clan must be up by 38 stars after 16 hours

-30v30-
-90tsc
-winning clan must be up by 60 stars after 12 hours
-winning clan must be up by 45 stars after 16 hours

-35v35-
-105 tsc
-winning clan must be up by 70 stars after 12 hours
-winning clan must be up by 53 stars after 16 hours

-40v40-
-120 tsc
-winning clan must be up by 80 stars after 12 hours
-winning clan must be up by 60 stars after 16 hours

-45v45-
-135 tsc
-winning clan must be up by 90 stars after 12 hours
-winning clan must be up by 68 stars after 16 hours

-50v50-
-150 tsc
-winning clan must be up by 100 stars after 12 hours
-winning clan must be up by 75 stars after 16 hours

*Please keep in mind that these numbers are high because we don't want to punish clans for trying to compete. The point is to punish clans for giving up.

So there you go! I cannot think of any negatives to this update other then a small number of clan mates not being able to get attacks in for loot as a result of the early ending of battle. But hey, I'm sure SC can figure it out;)

What happen if in 10 vs 10
your clan lose 21 - 19 in 12 hours and your top rank still not attack
did u want lose by default bcoz your top rank gonna get attack at last moment to fill

Notice that I said the winning clan "must be up by 20 stars after 12 hours." This means that the winning clan must be up by a margin of 20, not that they just need 20 stars to win. So in order for the run rule to come into place, the score would have to be 21-1.

Yes and as stated above, if you read the whole post, that is the only problem I can think of for this idea. Clans would have to be aware of the run rule and be prepared to get in attacks before the 12 hour mark hits.

Waht about international clans? or clans that wait until the last few hours to attack?

Hey HiFliya. With the hour marks listed and the stars required to win at those hour marks, I tried to make it so that it would not affect international wars. With the high numbers that I chose, the losing clan pretty much would only need 10-20 stars in the first 12 hours in order to negate the run rule. I have been in over 100 wars, and I have found that the 12 hour mark seems to be the point where you know if the other clan is going to attack or not. In other words, if you don't get a couple attacks in by the 12 hour mark, then it is safe to say you are not attempting to compete (whether you are on the other side of the world or not).

As for clans that wait until the last few hours to attack, this update would hurt them. Having said that, there are few clans that do that, and I believe the update would do more good than it would bad it this scenario.

Some clan have morning attack
like they pretend give up and last 2 hours they full attack and taken over even with 80% star difference
ut i like idea to give up
example clan be see clan a too steong the leader simple give up(voting on clan first leader decide)
the other leader must agree for it too happen

I agree that clans don't normally wait until the last minute, it was just a hyper-realistic example. My clan is currently in war right now, We are up against a clan from Asia, more specifically Myanmar (from their clan name, its literally myanmar) My clan is predominantly from Texas so the time difference is a little high, about 12 and a half hours ahead of us, right past your 12 hour mark for the Run rule. If by example, theoretically, none of my clan attacked as we started this war a little late, and fell asleep until the next morning, and the opposing clan had 3 starred most of our bases, would we have to rush to make up the difference in stars before the run rule counted our inability to get on as a loss?

I see where you are coming from in that some clans might not be able to get any attacks in before the 12 hour mark hits. However, I myself have never been in a clan where we don't have at least 10+ attacks in at the 12 hour mark (usually its around 30-40 in a 35v35 war), even when we start the war before bed. Having said this, if you are in a clan that might have problems getting attacks in before the 12 hour mark (you might want to consider switching clans), then the simple solution is just to change your start time for war. Change it to the morning so the you have all day to get attacks in. I see where you are coming from with the idea, but I just don't see it as a viable problem.

Again lol, it was a hyper-realistic example, my clan generally always has two or three gung-ho trigger happy warmongers and the second Battle Day starts, they jump on their pre-scouted targets. It was just examples that could potentially happen if at all. Casual war clans might encounter this more than not, but it can be avoided easily.

I think you are underestimating the number of clans that wait. We do and we see opponents do it. There is a element of gamesmanship there that would be undermined by a need to get so many in after do long.

Sometimes we have another clan not attacking even after we scored a bit so we have everyone hold up and wait until the end to do snipe attacks. We don't want to do them early because we don't know if they really quit or its a game.

Guys take that game pretty far. We have seen all but a few guys leave so its looking like the clan broke up, then they all come back near the end (probably hanging in a feeder clan) and attack at once.

Anyhow, I think what you suggest would cause more trouble than its worth. And I surmise you have not encountered the gamesmanship yet. You will. And once you start looking at that while figuring out how to max your loot but not get tripped up by an illusion you will be less bored.

I understand your point about the gamesmanship, and the fact that a good number of clans do use that as a "strategy". The fact is that this update would hurt that type of strategy and those clans would have to find new ways to war. Maybe try to make sure that you are staying within the margin that negates the run rule while still looking like you aren't going to use attacks? I don't know how you would deal with it because I have never used that strategy.

As far as losing the war as a result of getting snipes in because you think you've won... Please remember that in order for you to get a run rule, you have to be up by a pretty considerable margin of victory. The reason for this is to make sure that the other clan is actually not attacking, and not just attacking badly. Also, keep in mind that if you are the winning clan, as soon as the clock hits that 12 hour mark, or 16 hour mark, the war is a done deal. Therefore, just wait till the last 5 minutes to get that snipe in if you are really that concerned that the other clan will come back from that far down at the last possible moment.

This game is all about waiting. Why are people so impatient that they cannot stand the 24 hour waits in wars? This isn't a multiplayer first person shooter where everything happens now-now-now. You loot, you wait. You build, you wait. You research, you wait.

I also have to guess that Supercell doesn't necessarily want clans warring more often than every 48 hours because they give away free loot for every war win/tie/loss.

I don't mind the idea of surrendering a war as long as BOTH clan's agree to it. Usually when my clan has a large lead we try to farm as much +loot from our opponent as we can. Ending the war prematurely before we have had our fill of easy loot I am against.

I think losing the gamesmanship factor would be way to a steep price to pay. Its a significant part of the challenge to many clans. (its how a lot of us overcome mismatches) Waiting out a war is not exciting and sometimes annoying but its hardly a big problem that you would do something that means you have to tell everyone to think of a new way to war.

Its also better for Supercell if they always keep war at a 2 day cycle with no shortcuts. The loot bonuses are paid by them (those do not come out of the players pockets, they come out of the bank) so anything that speeds up the payouts is going to impact against their profits.
