yet another post about zapping

so zapping isn't covered in the sticky under ruled-out ideas, or i missed it. please reply with what category i can find it under. i've looked a few times now, and you know what i found was that "teslas absorb lightning" is under ideas that are possible and not ruled out.

i support this new feature. teslas are already in the game and hidden. this could make for some good strategy.
if someone wanted to zap your de or your air defense or mortar or whatever, they still could. but if there was a 2x2 space next to their target, they might fail. the space may or may not contain a tesla and they would have some risk involved.

also the tesla shouldn't absorb all the lightning, just enough to prevent anything from being outright destroyed by lightning. a defense tower would be significantly weakened and could be destroyed more easily by troops in battle, but not totally destroyed.

and that brings the real problem with the lightning spell. it shouldn't be able to totally destroy something risk-free.
nothing else in this game functions that way. all other spells have temporary effects, but a tower destroyed by lightning is a done deal.

so the hidden tesla is the solution. if there actually is one by your target, you will fail to destroy it. but it could be a bluff, just an empty space. now there is risk, but still a chance of success if you decide to go for it.

the tesla would pop up immediately when the spell was dropped and beat it to the punch. the tesla could or could not take damage, depends on how the game balance would be affected overall. you could do either.

i know the whole "lower townhalls need a chance" rebuttal, but these same lower townhalls are vulnerable too. i you want to make it easier for them to get de, make it easier for them to keep it too. th 7 has a de drill now, so that rebuttal is moot now, no?

and as for dragon defense, this proposal doesn't eliminate the usefulness of the lightning spell. it just potentially keeps it from taking out 50% of your defense against dragons right at the start of the battle. having a badly damaged air defense gives you a better shot at successfully defending, but it won't last long under direct attack.
the battle is more even now and could go either way.

and the dragons don't matter at th9 and th10 rebuttal is beside the point. if you are not th9 or 10 dragons are way op and th7 vs. th7 is the most unbalanced aspect of this game for me so far. i'm not going to rush to th9 under anyone's suggestion anyway.

Rebuttal incoming- Zapping, whether its DE or a defensive structure or the last few buildings for 50%, are all legitimate strategies. Taking out a raid's biggest threat before the actual raid starts is tactical and smart. Zapping DE, is just getting what you want with means that utilize both the looting mechanics and the Lightning Spell. The description of the spell literally states that it deals damage to buildings and troops in a small area... Damage is irreversible unless you have healers in the CC.

Teslas description says that it stays hidden until troops are near it, or when you hit 51% (technically 50% but its more common to see 51%) So a spell, would not trigger it.

So many posts about lightning spells on DE. Guys, there is no way to keep all of your resources safe. That is the risk you take by disarming your shield. All you have to do is spend about at tops 15,000 gold searching and you will find an awesome base that has tons of easy DE to win back! Also you can always revenge attack that person.
This would be way to OP because only noobish people lightning spell your DE, but thats the risk that you take when you farm down low. Guys don't forget, they can put these near their Air Defence because I know two lighting spells lvl 5+ on an air defences will destroy it.

but a lightning spell could trigger it if they changed the gameplay mechanic. and my suggestion doesn't rule out lightning attack on all buildings, just the ones near a tesla. and the buliding would still take damage, just reduced damage. so a builders hut or barracks or spell factory or any other low hit-point building could give you your 50%. peolpe can't protect everything with a nearby tesla, only higher hit point structures would survive the attack. and who would protect a builders hut from lightning anyway?

and you could still zap whatever you wanted to. it just wouldn't be risk free from the get go. a tesla might be near. but if no tesla was near the zapping would occur the same as it does currently. it dosn't eliminate zapping. it just eliminates the invulnerability of zapping. sometimes it might not work completely, sometimes it would. it would depend on the design of the base against your choice of zapping target. it would bring strategy and risk to the situation. and zapping could go on forever, just now there is risk involved like any other attack strategy.

Thats the thing. Spells should not have a counter whatsoever. they are supposed to give an advantage in battle. Before you say ITs and Heals, its not a counter to heal SPELLS, but ALL healing altogether.

but the effect of all other spells are temporary. lightning destroying my air defense is permanent and eliminates my chance of defending against dragons completely. even the top spell, the freeze spell is temporary. so why should the effect of the lightning spell be permanent?

Cause its damage? damage isnt temporary. The other spells are Effect spells, Lit is the only damage spell. Hence Temporary vs. Permanent Damage. Pretty sure you know this though. Zapping a level 5 AD before mass dragging is dull but it is effective. Take warfare for example. If you need to get aircraft in the area, you clear out any Air targeting systems. Same concept here

so you seem to make my point that lightning is a different type of spell from the others for me. which is why lightning, in particular needs some sort of counter. i think making people take out the air defense by attacking it with troops isn't asking for anything special. it is rather like the rest of the game. using lightning is an exploit that should be toned down, but not removed entirely. that is the point of this suggestion.

At the risk of being a wet blanket...

Well they could create a spell that is launched as a defensive weapon. When launched it kills all the attackers...then your loot would be safe from raiders..........but............ That isn't the point of this game.... It's a war based game, built around the concept of raiding other bases for resources. If you want a game where you don't have to worry about having your things stolen...... Try hay day.......

All these, let's make the game easier ideas would take the fun right out of a war game, perfect defenses, cheap walls at lvl 6, elixir for walls, super spells, on and on the list goes........ There is no end point to the game , the challenge is working through each level, over coming each obstacle, just like the players before us did, and like the ones after us will.

How is it an exploit? Its using it how the spell was supposed to be used. How did you intend for a spell that deals damage to be used? And yes, i do agree that Lightning is a spell in its own category, but needs no counter.

dude you make no sense. i am not saying make the game easier. i am saying make it more challenging. letting people have a free shot is making the game easier. letting people have their free shot with some potential risk involved is making the game more challenging.

and my post is more about valuable and expensive defenses being taken out so easily. my solution is not to remove the feature, but make it more of a challenge. all with a slight tweak to existing elements. not adding defensive spells or new building or any of that.

you can go play hay day all you want. it sucks.

What would be the point in the lightning spell if its only purpose was taken away? I'm not going to use lightning spells if there's a decent chance that the thing I want to zap is protected from lightning, that's just silly

EDIT: In regard to it taking out high level buildings, there's a cost to it as well. I don't use lightning very often during war because I see more use in other spells, but this idea would take lightning away from everyone

it is an exploit because it has no possible defense. name one other element of this game that you can say that about.
and i don't know about SC's or SEE's intent, but they make corrective changes to this game all the time to restore balance when the figure something is too powerful or weak. an attack with no counter or risk involved is about as op as things can get.

To me, exploitation is taking advantage of something that is unfair to gain an undeserved edge. If there was a glitch that caused lightning to deal triple damage to defensive structures, I'd be right behind you, but no complained-about (or otherwise) use of lightning is improper. Lightning does exactly what it is meant to do: give the attacker a legitimate and strategic advantage in an attack, at the cost of other spells

and again i am not proposing taking away lightning's effects. the spell is the same unless there happens to be a nearby tesla. if there is no tesla nearby the lightning is unaffected.
the risk is you don't know if there is a telsa nearby, it could just be a 2x2 decoy space. this is how the hidden tesla functions, you don't know where they are but can see where they might be and have to risk it.
and you can't protect everything because you only have a limited number of teslas, so some things will be vulnerable no matter what. the defender has to plan, and the attacker has to choose wisely.
this is more competitive in everyway the the lame free-shot scenario we are in right now.

I understand all that, what I'm saying is that dropping lightning is not a free shot. You can use 3 lightning spells to take out an air defense, but it's very possible that your drags or balloons would benefit much more from those spells being rage, heal or freeze spells. Using lightning means that your troops don't have the assistance of other spells to deal with the rest of the base. It's a trade off. Either take the one guaranteed building or use other spells to boost the destruction of many more buildings, but without the same ironclad guarantee. For me anyway, 49 times out of 50, I go against lightning. (As a TH7 using mass drags, it was another story, but rage produced the same result anyway, it was just cheaper to use light) Lowering its effectiveness is not something that I believe should be done

o.k. fair enough. but understand my proposal doesn't negate the effect of lightning. if a building is protected by a tesla it will still be damaged, and i hope it would be nearly destroyed. but not completely, so it could still deal damage until destroyed. it would be destroyed quickly once under fire since it is already heavily damaged.

maybe make it so only a maxed defense could survive. that seems like a good trade-off.

and i don't want to get into another de zapping dust-up, but this would enable de to still be zapped. just not as much will be lost or gained if a tesla is nearby. and if there is not a tesla nearby, then happy zapping.

and just to be clear, i zap all the time. i am th7 and have a farming base. when i get sniped by a th9 or th10,
i revenge zap their de if it is above 20,000 and snipe their th too if possible. in war i usually go for dragon rage, but sometimes zap a air def and dragon raid if the opposing clan is over-using that tactic, just to annoy them.
so i get the whole annoying zapper thing. that being said th7 vs. th7 is ridiculously easy right now since it is basically dragon raiding a th6 if you zap an air def first. and that is a major flaw in this otherwise awesome game.
