No more L8 Walls with Elixir - What to do with your extra elixir

All the veterans are crying on how good we had it. Anyone who didn't get to use elixir on L8 walls had it good.

I'm part of the latter and I am sad that I can no longer dump elixir into walls unless I upgrade to TH9.

However, since Supercell is driven by profit, there's nothing we can do about it. Reintroducing a bottleneck is a great way to get players to buy more gems.

So what can we do? Start using our massive elixir storages to crush bases that we would've normally skipped. We would've normally skipped these bases because we were just constantly barching for loot.

Go higher, train heavy armies and spells.... Come and have a pop at our TH9 storages.

Have some fun with the other troops available, other than the same old BARCH ....... (Probably the way SC intended the game to be played anyway)

You could also Cook zapps .... Zapp those big juicy storages......

I prefer you take that extra elixir, build stronger army comps and destroy villages with it. IMO attacking has become boring with all this barching going on. Lets get it!

im one of the lucky ones. just finished upgrading all walls to 8. now im upgrading to th9 and i can just go on with upgrading them with elixer.

The answer is obvious, Clash of Clans is like The Lion King's "Circle of Life." You get elxir, I take your elxir and farm lava walls with it, and then you get mad and zap my dark elixir storage becuase you don't have lava walls and max defenses and it's only way you can retaliate.

That's "The Circle of Life."

All dragons. It will get me a lot of DE for BK upgrades :).

I feel exactly the same way. . . I'm at TH8 and have been pushing all of my elixer into level8 walls (48 so far). I want to max them out before going to th9. Now it's like there isn't going to be anything to spend elixer on. Think i'll be making ridiculous power armies like mass pekka and giant/wizard on a daily basis rather than barching all the time.

This is a really good post and i was having the same problem. I dont have anything to use my elixirs on.

If I'm not going to be on for an extended period of time, I'm planning on making use of more dragons-based raids. I'm also making a ton of wizards for not just raids, but also donating to clan.

f--- those TH9s, I'm not giving them any more incentives to attack me.

Yes, I am terrified at the thought of TH8s coming to get my de storage.

Actually be able to get upgrades with my 100k elixir farming army. It is hard to find enough elixir to pay for the attack and get extra elixir. Now I can farm a lot easier.

I played the way that benefited the community. Didn't bury any elixir in walls. Saved up. Held it in storages. Got raided hard. Now as soon as I maxed th8 except for walls they take elixir for walls away. I'm sorry ... but I'm not helping out th9s. I'm taking all my spare elixir, cooking expensive armies and deleting them from my camp. I'm just going to waste as much as I can. I got "rewarded" for my patience I guess. Can't wait to get to th9 while they update elixir for walls to level 11 walls only. I was pretty sick and tired of being the only person on the server I was raiding on with loot. Not going to help anyone out with their loot.

That is a dumb idea, ever heard the phrase "cutting off your nose to spite your face" look it up.

Why not cook up your expensive armies and attack a nice juicy base that you would not otherwise attack with barch? At least you would have some gold and possibly some DE to show for it, and you would have fun in the process. Creating an expensive army just to delete it so as to "stick it to the man" makes it sound like you view this more as a job than a game.

I can't attack at work because it takes too long to find a base with anything. But I certainly have enough time to delete and recue some wall breakers. Unfortunately with no bases with loot this game is worse than a job. I ride shields constantly. I don't expect much loot this close to an update and apparently supercell thinks it's "ok" to have a system that unstable.

It was a huge mistake to allow elixir to upgrade walls, if it was down to me I would only allow Elixir wall upgrades on Level 10+ walls. The amount of elixir drained from the games forced people to only barch...

Though I was pretty angry about the update at first, I am pretty happy about it now. I was able to get like 70 of my level 8 walls done in a few days over Thanksgiving, and now I can steal some good elixer from TH8s.

I only relied on barch because I could never find raids that would pay off for the cost of training troops, but now I will gladly go back to my old ways :)

Incorrect. The fact that one resource is that useless for 50% of your time at every town hall level from 5-8 was a mistake. Rewards from raids were too low. and still are. But I guess people are going to be happy raiding 20 k gold and 330 k elixir again. So be it.

I'd rather have a useless surplus then a vital shortage. Even thought I maxed TH7/walls and got all the flags, I didn't have full elixir storage for more than a week because I donated heavily which is a good thing about elixir surplus. I didn't recall a surplus of elixir at TH5-6 ever though

As soon as I maxed elixir upgrades I was over flowing with it. And waiting for the lab to get free. I hate having it just sit there

This is probably the best thing SC could do with the update besides removing it entirely.

The question is: How dump elixir so TH9 and TH10 have no benefits farming over TH7 and TH8?

What is the most expensive/faster elixir troop I can build and dump right after?

Unlock golems and train gowipe and practice or you can practice loons attack too:rolleyes:

I think that's exactly what supercell wants you to do.

Use various high elixer armies to have fun and add more variety to your raiding and skillz

Not that I really condone it, but do anything you want with your elixir.

The most expensive elixir:housing are Wall Breakers. I dunno if Wall breakers would spend the most elixir per minute though.

If you just want to sandbag your elixir without attacking, I'd suggest making all giants then go donating. You can even leave your own clan and donate to other clans to rack up exp. Just come back to your own clan an hour later or something. Levels don't really matter that much in this game, but it can help you get into some clans that have a minimum level requirement.

maybe when I've shields and I don't want to attack I cook anything for everyone in my clan :)

Oh boo hoo. You didn't get to use it. I used it while it lasted and farmed 150 lvl 8 walls in 2 weeks.

You previously skipped raiding more difficult bases because you wanted to use the cheapest army imaginable, mindlessly spamming the first two troops unlocked in the game while dumping all your excess elixir into those pitifully low-level walls of yours so no one could take it from you.

You are the poster child for the root cause of the loot problems and a perfect example of why adding the fourth mortar/doubling AT Attack speed is a good thing.

It's not YOU they were trying to help with this part of the "economy balancing" - TH8 never had a loot problem to begin with. It is mainly TH10.

TH7-TH8's only loot problems were with DE, and that's why you got the new drills.

But hey, You are welcome to come try to "make me wish [you] went back to barching." It would make for a hilarious replay to share with my clan :cool:

So would TH8s rather not have the lvl 12 pumps and second DE drill?

Every TH lvl from 7 up gained more than they lost. Do you think that lvl 7 giants are going to bring flowers to owners of TH9s?

Barching all day long is not how this game supposed to be played. And now SC makes it clear to everyone. What's this with TH <9 dark elixir deficiency ? It's because they did nothing but barch. Which is totally boring. As I've seen in the last 2 months.

What's the point of another dozens troop type ? So you'll use them. Otherwise you can stop progressing your barracks at level 3.

OP, this game has three parties that control the game
1) Attacker
2) Defender
3) Supercell

Attackers and defenders shout, fight, rage on the forums, higher TH's raid lower TH's etc etc. But the one watching all this while drinking Finnish beer is SC.

SC has made the changes, now we have to adapt. Revenge, raid, barch (it can still be done) but don't take it personally. That would only mean more beer for SC :rolleyes:. Enjoy the game, changes are challenges, without change this game would be boring.

I'd love you to raid me for all the de and gold.

Do what we all did 6+ months ago.

*Cook crazy overnight armies, Dragons, Pekka/Wizard etc.
*Donate Wizards/Dragons to clan mates to ramp up your Friend in Need stat - many clans rate this highly.
*Enjoy some freedom using spells.
*Use elixir storages to protect Gold & Dark Elixir storages. That 2,000 HP object is massive in protecting the loot you value more.

So, in your mind, is dumb or noobish to be extremely efficient. In that case, could I sell you some ridiculously over priced items? If the goal is to farm 2m gold. Would you rather do it in an hour with only 200k elixir spent or would you rather do it over 2-4 hours with way more elixir spent?

Ahh, I guess it wouldn't take 2-4 hours if you boosted through all of it. . . but I don't want to assume that you would just mindlessly gem through everything, though you made a whole lot of assumptions yourself. . .

I find it quite funny, and ridiculous, that you can deduct that I am a poster child for the root cause of all loot problems due to my one post. Mid-level Wall upgrades using Elixir have become an easy and highly-available place to spend away excess Elixir, which is good for idle Villagers, but bad for active attackers.

However, since Supercell is driven by profit, there's nothing we can do about it. Reintroducing a bottleneck is a great way to get players to buy more gems.

So what can we do? Start using our massive elixir storages to crush bases that we would've normally skipped. We would've normally skipped these bases because we were just constantly barching for loot.

I have never, ever used wizards during my normal loot raids. But now that I have 3m elixir that I cannot spend down, I'm going to crush into some bases. And in doing so, I will LOL at every person who said suck it up, you should've never gotten L8 walls with elixir anyways. Because I would've never raided your base and took all your DE if I had something to spend the elixir on.

So for all of us active players that were "helped" by "economy balancing," let's show the rest of the community what we can do with extra elixir. I'm sure losing 1000-2000 DE every time your shield drops is going to make you wish we went back to barching.

I didn't call myself a veteran. That is an assumption you(incorrectly) made.

I did not cry either. I said I am sad that I cannot dump my elixir anymore, but that was it.

I just made a suggestion for players to dump their elixir into. In addition to that suggestion, I was hoping the impact might make a couple of arrogant players rethink their "suck it up" replies.

By saying how good we had it, we stands for the people who benefited from Level 8 wall upgrades with Elixir.

There is no logic that any argument that the use of elixir in walls were unbalancing the game causing the lack of elixir in the attacks. If you think that way gold is still scarce, as most things are to be updated with gold. Now with only gold to upgrade the walls around the problem of excess elixir stopped. In short this update, if before missing elixir to serve, now missing gold, at least before this balanced and giving you options for managing resources !! SuperCell completely wrong to make that kick !!

they should have done something like you can do skulls with elixir but instead of 500.000 in gold it would like costed 750.000 in elixir

I remember there was a thread on whether the new update would reduce zapping because of the introduction of the DE drill at th7. Ironically, its gonna increase zapping because elixir storages are gonna remain full for many at th7/8 now.

I guess I'll be trying out a lot of weird troop combinations from now. Not much else you can do with elix otherwise.

That extra elixir is for raiding.

I agree with you that there will be excess elixir which th9 plus will feast on to upgrade their walls. This update is catered more to the hardcore players than the casual gamers like myself. The only issue with doing so is alienating those that want to become hardcore players. I am not a fan of not allowing lvl8 walls upgradeable with elixir but I understand why SC did it. Those that have the loudest voices and those that complain the most are the ones that play the most. They have a right to as they spent the most time playing it. As for me whom is stuck at th8 with just lvl8 walls to do (minus the new upgrades from this update), I'll stick around and max it out like I always do by raiding a few times a day. It will just take me twice as long. If I decide to give up, I'll leave my resources completely unguarded for the hardcore players.

I can tell you as a TH10, DE is not a pain. DE was really only a pain to grind for TH7 and TH8. That's why they gave the additional drills to them.

Elixir is STILL not going to be a pain for TH8 and below, and they gave you more DE. And now there's more elixir for TH9+ to take.

This is why it's called "balancing."

Help out your clan, cook up some drags, pekkas etc and donate away. Cook expensive armies and have fun attacking bases you would normally not attack with barch. Make some nice gold and de profit in the process.

Im glad they kind of reversed that ridiculous lix for walls update. It should be for lv10/11 walls only but lv9 isnt so bad.

If you are th8 and think it's too difficult to max your base I would suggest you start looking at the possibility of quitting the game and finding a new hobby. Th8 is the cut off where the game is still very very easy, th9/th10 is where it gets noticeably hard.

I have not once stopped donating to my clan. Difference is ... I could donate dragons all day and still not put a dent in the elixir before.

You forget that back when you'll were TH8's, there were raids of 400k or more, and there were a lot of them. Now you get 1/50 raids above 200k and 1/25 raids above 100k. And if it's a storage raid you won't make a decent profit in an hour, because you can't do it with a pure barch.

I am a TH8 right now and I am very happy if I see 4 150-200k collector raids in an hour, which gives me about 600k profit in 1 hour of raiding. That used to be 1.5 raid for you when you were TH8. So yeah, TH8 was easy.

That's pretty much the gist of it. Plus it's hard to hold onto it when loot is scarce. I get attacked when I'm approaching one million each by level six giants. When it's slow going up and quick going down it's not that it's hard it's that it takes forever. I don't like feeling forced to keep my phone on just to keep my moderate progress

The excess elixir on TH8 is meant for TH9 from the beginning.

the update about upgrading lv 6 and 7 walls with elixir is just a mistake on SC's part, and they corrected it with this update.

If you have excess elixir then go up, th8 is rubbish anyway, only important thing there is lvl5 barch.
If not then use it to zap like all the other noobs :rolleyes:

personally lvl 8 walls are cheap as hell... wait till you do level 11s which are 8x of level 8s for 1 piece. then you'll see sooner why elixir walls are better for lvl 9+++

I'm one of the new players in the game. Only just getting to TH8 now. But looking at the elixir vs. gold requirements for TH8 this change makes me very sad. I like Barching. Not because it's "ressource efficient" but because it's fast to cook up the troops you need for it. Most of my raiding is done in the evenings, when the kids have been tucked into bed, but before I have to hit the sack myself. During those 2 hours, barching lets me do a lot of raids. Swapping from archers to wizards would mean that in those 8 minutes of training, I'd be filling up 4 housing space instead of 19 and I'd actually be spending LESS elixir during that time. Dragons and P.E.K.K.A.s are almost as bad.

Giants are the only non-tier 1 troop that have a reasonable training time. The rest of the troops are just too inefficient, when you compare time spent cooking. And that is what it really comes down to for me. So I can start rotating in a lot more giants in my basic attacking lineup. Much more likely though, I'll just upgrade to TH9 as soon as I run out of stuff to build with my elixir. That way I can spend my gold on lvl 8 walls and defenses while spending the excess elixir on lvl 9 walls.

Every replay a th8 posts in my clan is a juicy raid, exactly the same as when I was th8.

My th8 clan mates are making a killing around 1200-1500.

Sorry but no amount of "lootisbad " threads or comments will make me believe loot is bad. Been leader of 3 clans and never heard anyone complain about loot. Ive never seen this loot drought myself. Only the small % of the player base that complaints here. My clan mates are progressing just fine by playing casually.

Th10 loot is so bad that here I am sitting on full storages waiting for a builder.

I used to boost up to th9. Now at th10 there is no need. I log in, raid/load barracks, log out, rinse repeat. Fill storages way before builders come live. No boosting, dont have to no-life-it. Dont even have to play everyday.

But yea keep complaining guys. Also love those that "know" how bad loot is at th10 yet have never experienced th10. Parrots repeating what they read with no first hand experience.

But new update is here so you are good.

Th8 was and is very easy.

Leave your full elixir storages and pumps outside your walls to feed the economy and earn yourself trophies/defensive wins. I did it for ages and would earn 100+ overnight!

not to mention at th9 you can have maxed dark troops. using just dark troops are pure profit for upgrading walls. there is Lots of loot to be taken at higher town hall's i've seen it. but yah, lets pretend it will get harder at higher levels. Oh but you have to spend more. as long as you can use both resources it's not a challenge. Practacally forcing 2 strorages to be full is not " ballancing the economy". they had decent loot but now have punished th8 but have destroyed the economy to appease some whiners. but now that the th8 get shafted they are the whiners. you have got to be kidding me

WE Shouldn't have to! After balances to the economy one type of resouse should be more valuable than Germany's money pre ww2. on top of that Someone thought hey, lets give th8 another level to the elixir collector. everything about this update, except for the snow, is shafting th8 and helping th9. upgrading town halls is suppose to scale. but it is starting to look like th9 is now a cakewalk compared to the constant bombardment that will happen to th8's.
