Th7 got a DE drill and Th8 got the ability to use 2 drills instead of one on top of the level 12 collectors.

they Should Make It So The Upgrade Only Takes Like 2-3 Days, So It Doesn't Take So Long To Catch Up. 2 Months Just To break Even Is Crazy.

you gonna have to figure in the possible 1 gem boost on those thats likely coming. i say they gonna give us 1 gem for 7 days boost in the near future on collectors. I always felt like upgrading collectors though was something you do when you need to keep your builders busy.

If we get a boost for a few days, then sure, that will save you a few days of catch-up time.

My point is two-fold:
1) It takes almost 2 months to recoup your losses
2) It will take a few months for this to have a positive effect on the economy

People will be spending resources on these upgrades, and there will be collectors under construction. For the active farmers, this is a bad thing. Not everyone is upgrading their collectors immediately so there will be a trickle effect over the next few months as people slowly getting around to upgrading their collectors.

After this point is when the farming economy will ever so slightly trickle upward as people finish all their collectors and thus have more to steal from and have recouped their losses from buying them and having them upgrade for 5 days.

It is 20 days according to the wiki.

You calculated in the amount it costs to buy the mine or pump while the wiki didn't.

I guess either one is right though :P

I've been lucky just reach TH8 four days ago as a maxed TH7 base and start upgrading one of my elixir collector and after that finish I will upgrade one gold mine, and building one of additional drill before upgrading my defenses. Is this a good thing?

I am wondering how loot will be affected by collectors out of order...
I started 4 mines right away, they're out for 5 days, then the next lot, and the next
in total 15 days of heavily reduced collector output.
Higher league bonus will be the saviour, but gotta be in masters for that to be really felt.
