I was just curious if anyone knew when troops queued in your barracks actually start to be made. Is it as soon as you hit attack and press the next button or does it start generating troops as soon as you've found your target and then started dropping troops and attacked.

Now when your out looking for a target, "nexting", your camps are empty and the barracks will start to fill them up!!! As long as you attack, the new army will start to be placed into the camps! If you don't, then your barracks will be on hold or stopped until camps empty!

While out on a long "nexting" spree don't come back to your village to collect loot or whatever. It'll cancel out all those troops that were filling up your camps.
Lets say you run a 2 by 2 barch army. 2 barrack archer 2 barrack barb all prequeued and stuck in barracks
Now you wanna find someone and raid their loot!!!
so you click search/attack to start the process of searching.
1) Lets say you search for 5 minute and you raid for a full 3 minute for example. This is a full 8 minutes [5+3 = 8]
That means you will get
8minute * 60second (minute to second)*2 barracks)/25second (time per archer) = 38 archers
8minute * 60second (minute to second)*2 barracks)/20second (time per barbarian) = 48 barbarians
when you come back.
2) Lets say you search for 30 minute and you raid full 3 minute for example. Total 33 minutes.
That means you will get
33minute * 60second (minute to second)*2 barracks)/25second (time per archer) = 158 archers
33minute * 60second (minute to second)*2 barracks)/20second (time per barbarian) = 198 barbarians
when you come back
This is too many troops already. total of 356 troops... so it will stop at 240 maximum despite the nexting incurred waste of some time. Therefore it is an extreme example that too long nexting is counterproductive, so study your armie timings and know when to hit and when to play with the next.
The above comments are correct.
I have got all my barracks timed almost to the second of each other AND a total of 240 troops. This is with my farming army and it is a great time saver!

Wish I had known this in the beginning of my boosting. Just boosted for the first time during the golden hour. This info helped me a ton halfway through because I was able to realize that I could only go 5 minutes before I would start having too many troops. 5 minutes ends up being about 100 nexts so in gold 2/3 it was pretty manageable and I was able to find some great raids (nothing over 300k each though unfortunately).
Thanks for all the input everyone. I wonder how common knowledge this is for newer players. I'm sure all you veterans have known this for a while. :)
