Someone's got something to hide
Don't know why this is such a big deal to some players... unless you're hiding from chris hansen of dateline msnbc.
I can see the problem in fairness. Whilst SC may have good reasons and good intentions if you never contact player support do they really need permission access to your information?
Technically any permissions should be covered by a comprehensive agreement limiting its use. I suspect that it may be covered by general terms which means that you would not be required to ask on every occasion they update the terms.
I'm not on android so I have no idea if you can opt out completely or what limitations SC has put in place. But i do think that people should be worried about the access to personal data
People could have sensitive information in their media files... Maybe tax information, credit card information, bills, check photos, all kinds of things. Is seems completely unnecessary and a giant reach. This is a game app, it should not have any access to anything on our tablets more then absolutely necessary!
What if Supercell is ♥♥♥♥ed into, or an employee of theirs is unscrupulous, what guarantees do we have our information is protected? I really see a big problem with this. It could very well be a legal problem for them. Business owners have to buy insurance and have protections in place to protect credit information from their customers, is Supercell doing the same for a potential loss of our private media files??
Thanks for the reply Anoushka :)
I wish this was not required however. There are other ways we can send screen shots.
To those asking why it's an issue.. Maybe you don't understand that this means an app can read or copy anything that's on your phone's external storage.. as others have said maybe you store financial info or maybe a sexy photo of your other half, do you really want others to potentially see and copy that sort of information..
Too many apps casually ask too much access as if most of us don't care.. and unfortunately most don't seem too care or more likely don't understand. I'm not saying coc is being malicious after hearing their reason, but I certainly understand why people might quit playing because of it as someone has already said here. Once your info is available to others you no longer have full control. That's not ideal.
Just trying to be funny, apparently it wasn't lol.
Everyone is blaming SC for Google's inability to create a good permission system.
