Hero upgrade gives Experience? Or maybe not

I'm currently upgrading my CoC calculator and was notified by a fellow clasher that upgrading heros (barb king & arch queen) would not give experience. As you need a builder for it, I though it would be a given to gain experience. Unfortunatelly I can't prove soon, as I'm nearly maxed TH8 incl the barb king.

Can you please confirm, if upgrading your hero provides Experience or not?

heroes, troops & walls doesnt give experience, wich is kinda silly, especially for walls

It does not give you experience.
