Don't make elixer only used for level 9 walls!!! here's why

I'm TH8. I am a very active player - I raid a lot.

The problem is I am going to have NOTHING to do with elixer.

There is a bottleneck on what I can spend elixer on - barracks, troops, laboratory and a few one offs here and there.

I already have more elixer than I know what to do with!

I'm going to be sitting on max elixer with nothing to do with it other than wait for someone to raid and take it. And now elixer is going to be easier to get.

This is a horrible, horrible idea.

If you HAVE to do this, then give us a second laboratory. The laboratory was already the bottleneck in advancing and now you made it way worse.

It's good for the game and merely inconvenient for some players. I would say lvl9 walls is maybe too low, but at least it is a tangible step towards fixing our resource vacuum modeled economy.

Is counter logic. You build armies with elixir that you supposedly raid with a lot. If you have too much elixir and not enough black elixir/gold then build non-cost efficient armies to raid towns storing lots of gold (such as ballonion or GoWiPe). You can always spend excess amounts of purple elixir in healthy ways. Opposed to players having no purple elixir to raid - whatsoever - is endemic and is unhealthy for the game. This patch does mitigate the problem at hand but Super Cell needs to just remove spending elixir on walls entirely.

I'm TH8 and I'm in the opposite corner to you. I concentrated on upgrading my defences and now have a surplus of gold and a shortage of elixir. Personally, I am glad that elixir can't be used on walls any more as I will be able to gain more elixir whilst raiding and get the rest of my barracks upgraded :)

That's a bad arguement, who want's to wait hours to build gowipe every time they want to raid? Your argument is flawed majorly. I agree with this post, 100%. Elixer is going to be full 100% of time.

Just because you're bad at managing resources and don't know when to quit upgrading walls doesn't mean we should all be punished. I upgraded tons of walls with elixer, and I have respectable barracks, and I raid a lot and NEVER am short on elixer unless it's planned and calculated. This is a bad fix, punishing people for other peoples mistakes and bad management skills.

Seems as these two opposing threads each have valid points, and I wonder how Supercell, with their crackpot team of developers, couldn't figure out the perfect solution to this problem?

Elixir for walls allowed from lvl 7+ walls, but in order to use elixir to upgrade the wall piece, you must satisfy these conditions:

- after wall upgrade, you still retain enough elixir to hit the max loot cap for your TH level.

... and that's it. Just don't allow it to be completely unrestricted, and you let hardcore farmers with overflowing elixir have an outlet to dump their excess into, and it doesn't allow players to dump it all out of the system so that others can't recover their army costs.

I have to strongly agree with OP.

The reason for lack of raiding at TH6/7 isn't lack of elixir. It's lack of gold. I recently went from maxed out TH6 to TH7. When I was maxing out TH6, I was sitting at 2 mil elixir for weeks. The reason for this is simple. Without elixir wall upgrades, you need about double the amount of gold than elixir to max out.

The only sources of both resources that add into the economy are collectors, mines and win rewards, which produce both at the same rate. You have to end up with lack of gold in the economy eventually. Yes you spend elixir on troops, but with surplus of elixir in the economy you loot more of it than gold anyway.

Either way you end up with lack of gold or surplus of elixir. Neither of which are fixed by removing the ability to upgrade walls with it.

The only time people have decent stockpile of gold to loot is when they are saving for a bigger upgrade. If they spend all their gold on level 7 wall upgrades at 200k a piece, you will never end up with a stockpile worth looting. Meanwhile their elixir stockpile is huge because there is nothing to spend it on, since beside wall upgrades, the elixir and gold demands for other upgrades are more or less the same.

So instead of giving me a reason to raid a village with a lot of elixir and no gold, which would be allowing to upgrade walls with it is, this change does the exact opposite. So even more elixir around, but nothing to spend it on. You're lowering the demand, not increasing the supply.​

When I was max TH8 sitting on Elixir (pre wall update), I would build ludicrous armies and raid with them. Why not? Got nothing else to do, and by burning that extra elixir, storage raids for gold become easier. People do still need to save fot big gold upgrades, it's not like everyone is always dumping into walls

Hardly bad resource management when I've upgraded most of my troops, 3 barracks to max and 1 DE barrack to max, along with army camps all at max...

Who said anything about my walls being maxed out? They're not, far from it in fact and it will cost me a lot to max them.

I prioritised upgrading my defences over upgrading all of my barracks. Now my defences are all maxed out for TH8 so I now have to max the remainder of my barracks and walls. With so many people whinging about the lack of loot in raids following being able to use elixir to upgrade walls, it wasn't going to be too long until SC made a change.

Yes, who DID say anything about your walls being maxed? I don't know what you're reading there..

As far as available resources, can someone from SuperCell check my attack logs ever since the update, on both accounts, and see how flat-out amazing I do raiding? I have two accounts and can easily rack up over 2 mil of each resource in a matter of about 3 hours, if that. People complaining about available loot baffles me..I'm doing better than ever, and I spend less time playing now than I ever used to.

This does, simply, come down to bad resource management. The loot is available for raids, I know this, I raid daily and I do well. Arguing that people having more elixer will allow them to build stronger armies is a moot point - I raid with all archers right now and spend maybe 15 minutes between raids, if that. Do you have any idea how long it would take between raids if I build dragons, or gowipe, or ANYTHING besides the all archers that I do? I'd be forced to actually play the game less, but at the same time, constantly be tapping my screen for much longer periods of time to make sure I'm not raided since it will take me 40-45 minutes between raids, often times much longer with more expensive armies. This is just a bad idea all around.

I don't have a problem with the loot, I agree there is plenty of it out there and I have no problems in finding good loot.

So what you're saying is you just want to raid with a basic archers only army and having this update would potentially inconvenience you into thinking about something which would take more than 20 minutes to build? My heart bleeds for you, it really does.

And when you do you should probably refrain from using derogatory terms such as 'nonsense' to describe each other's ideas. Generally when a person cant keep it constructive its because they don't have any point to stand on.

Level 9 walls and up with elixir is the worst solution that exists.

IMO, walls with elixir should never have happened and should be removed entirely

either that, or let every level upgrade upgrade walls with elixir

How is this idea better in any way? The current update prevents TH7 and 8 from dumping Elixir into walls. This in turn improves elixir loot for TH7, 8 and 9

Loot in general...is fine

Too many people complaining about a problem that doesn't exist

All level walls with elixir allows it all to be fair and there still won't be a loot shortage


(I still like the idea of removing elixir walls entirely better, however)

I said it improves it, I didn't say it was bad. I am, in fact, one of the few not complaining about loot :rolleyes:

I like elixir dumping into walls mainly because of the entirely unbalanced uses for each resource. Gold can be used on so many more and expensive things than elixir can. Something that might help is to force you to use both resources to upgrade walls, at a cheaper cost. I haven't thought about that at all, so I don't know what that would do to the economy, but it's an idea I haven't heard yet

I think this is a happy medium. Look, something had to be done about elixir, and I'm talking about pre-elixir wall update. It was a devalued resource. It was overly abundant. A lot of people didn't even bother protecting it. There was a huge imbalance in the value of gold and elixir. Now perhaps the elixir wall update swung it too far in the other direction. I never had a problem, but then again I was at TH8, so it might not have hit me as hard.

With this slight rollback, elixir should be more balanced in value. It helps higher THs and it should still be overflowing for TH8 and below anyway.

I applaud SC for implementing a needed update and then tinkering with it to make it better for anyone.

And TH8s complaining about it? Well thems the breaks. I would've killed for a 2nd drill, so let's not act like you're getting screwed.

No no, because regardless of this update, I'm going to raid with the same army. It won't make any difference at all, i'll just be maxed on elixer all the time because I have nothing to spend it on. There's no point in me building gowipes to raid people and get 50k more of each resource, but spend 150k more to do it.

If you can find raids well right now, and I can find raids well right now, are we the only ones? So why does the economy need fixing? That's all I'm saying. There is no 'so-called' shortage of elixer right now...it just simply doesn't exist. I've never heard a clanmate say it, I've never felt it or heard it from any friends from other clans, and frankly find the assertion kinda ridiculous. I don't see what I'm missing on why this is needed to 'help' us when it's not really 'helping' me at all.

Actually there is. I remember the first time I tried gowipe it failed miserably. Same with quadlavaloonion and well . . . most army builds the first time I tried them. Watch more vids, test more myself and all of a sudden they work. So using your excess elixir to build armies that you normally wouldn't use to farm actually can help your skill as a clasher quite a bit. So try using an army that you have always gone PTHHHHH! to a few times and either figure out why you don't like it or change your own mind. Knowledge is power my friend.

For those people that say that there's now elixir available to loot.. If no one can dump elixir into walls at th7 or th8, there's no need to loot for elixir since you will also have a lot of elixir.

There's just going to be a lot of unspent elixir in everyone's base. The gold:elixir disparity is already pretty bad.

I am 1000% with u on this it is bogus im th7 almost th8 and this whole update is going to be a major set back for me. If thwy keep walls lvl8 as both ot would be way better. 225×500,000= 112,500,000 that must now just come from gold!!!!! Supercell this is a huge mistake dont do it!

The huge mistake was allowing elixir to be used for walls. This is merely rectifying SC's error of a few months back when they implemented it.

For those of you that are saying this will help the loot on your raids I think it won't really changed a lot. There is plenty of elixir and gold to raid. You guys just need to take your time and search. Even before the wall elixir upgrade u wouldn't al aye find elixir or gold right away if u didn't keep searching.

This is a weird update though. Supercell gave us probably all you guys that are saying its a good update. The ability to upgrade our walls w elixir and now that we are done we don't want other people to benefit from it. Probably those th10 that have been here forever complained a lot. But they can't even update anything.

I'm on th9 going on th10 in few days. My walls are almost all level 9 so this won't affect me at all. But it is surely unfair for tons of flashers that wanted to upgrade or had planned to upgrade their walls w elixir.

Elixir just sits there for a long time and you can't do anything with it once ur in th8 and u finish ur upgrades like troops n camps n barracks. Then what u still upgrading ur defenses and the rest of the stuff which take way more time and gold. While ur elixir is sitting. And elixir isn't that important coz of that. I always raided for gold coz I was full w elixir. Then I looted for elixir too.

Who here upgrades there level 9 walls to 10 or 11 those walls are ridiculously expensive. Only gemmers or maxed th10. I know I won't do level 10 till in maxed 3m is too much is better to spend it on defenses than one wall

U can use ur excess elixir and do some heavy raiding and plus with new lvl collectors and an extra drill it will be easier and faster to reach TH9. Lok at the big picture 😊

Now is back to raiding for gold and ignoring those elixir storages. I save a ton of elixir anyway when farmin. And when trophy push I still get way more than I spent.


I feel so bad for lower bases now. At least level8 walls with elixir makes more sense than level9. 500k is a lot. I wasn't gonna do my level 8 walls if it wasn't for the last upgrade. I'm glad I'm done because I would be so upset now.

And all the people that don't follow the news or updates before they come out willbe so mad and with reason. I know some of my clanmates and friends are upset some are almost all maxed w their level 8 walls but some just started and their th is all maxed except walls.

I don't even update walls on my noob accounts. I have two th8 but w level 6 walls n they will stay like that walls are too expensive anyway n specially now with no elixir

If you aren't getting plenty of elixir already or it's not piling up then you are doing something wrong. Even with barching. Go wipe or gowiwi. Even with gobarch. I still get more elixir. But really I'm not complaining about raids lol there is plenty lots of loot. With abandon bases or w bases w storages full. People shouldn't complain about looting. It's more what u can do with that loot. Now people won't have the choice of using it for their walls.

People are annoyed that they had to used gold like I did too for all our walls. I was personally think walls are just overrated but they do look nice. Level 9 are expensive but level 10 are ridiculous.

So either supercell wants to please the maxed players that got annoyed and upset or they want people to use more gems again for their walls just like those maxed players

I don't agree that only gemmers can afford level 10 walls, but you are right about one thing- your walls are only as good as your defenses behind them. That being said I agree, max your troops, defenses, anything you can, who wants to spend 3 mil on a block? Here's why-once you max your stuff the Elixer just collects anyway with nowhere to go exept raid costs. That is why the update will allow upgrades on level 9, 10, and 11 walls. Also, you need 2 Maxed Wallbreakers to penetrate level 7, 8, and 9 walls. You need that 3rd maxed wallbreaker to get through level 10 Lava walls. There are a lot of us grind through level 9 walls without gemming. That being said, the lava walls are absolutely necessary to defend a TH 10 once you grind through to Champions. At that rate I can probably squeeze out 4 level 10 blocks per week raiding, or less.
at the rate I'm going I'll probably finish lava walls by Christmas 2016-LOL
im not real crazy about electric walls as I do believe guys that have those most likely gem because this game ain't that old.-peace

i agree there is a point which elixer gets built up too high. However, I think using for walls is an elemental flaw in reference to resources applied to units/builidings. Should we be able to use gold to upgrade heroes or fill infernos? Also, this bottleneck affect allows for people to get good raid when more is available. I had an idea i posted a while ago saying we should be able to plant shrooms, trees, bushes etc with elixer then we could at least harvest gems. Tree could cost like like 20k, plus i like to create a fence with stumps.

I'm TH8. I am a very active player - I raid a lot.

The problem is I am going to have NOTHING to do with elixer.

There is a bottleneck on what I can spend elixer on - barracks, troops, laboratory and a few one offs here and there.

I already have more elixer than I know what to do with!

I'm going to be sitting on max elixer with nothing to do with it other than wait for someone to raid and take it. And now elixer is going to be easier to get.

This is a horrible, horrible idea.

If you HAVE to do this, then give us a second laboratory. The laboratory was already the bottleneck in advancing and now you made it way worse.

th9 need a lot of elixir, if you have so much go there

dont be selfish.. well i think it will really help the community, since it will prevent abusers of the wall upgrade. and it will really help you in wars since wars convert elix to gold.

Frankly, I do agree with the OP.

One, things in life change for the good and bad. Upgrading walls with elixir was a blessing, though I didn't heavily rely on elixir for walls, it still came in handy when trying to get them out the way quickly when you have no elixir to spend on anything else. Me personally, my elixir is always sitting high no matter what. It's the gold that I have to work hard for to keep up, especially since I do my best to upgrade many things at once.

Two, people seem to always have this mindset that change isn't good. ORIGINALLY, I feel the wall update was really good before (yes, even starting at level 6 walls), simply because it put our elixir to better use. Why is that people think "I went through it so they have to go through it too" in life? I didn't have a drill at TH7 and had to work so hard for that barbarian king, but you know what? Why be bitter and upset that SC finally brought a drill to TH7s now? Like, you got yours the old fashioned way and that's great, but people can't just, dare I say, be happy people can better get their base upgraded. So what that SC brought the ability to upgrade walls with elixir now but you didn't have it back when you were a TH7/8? The experienced players get sooo bitter and for what? Even with this new update (even though I hate I was in the middle of upgrading walls to level 8 just to get thrown off now since I can't evenly disperse my loot where needed), we affected by it have to accept change...since it was done to fix the economy...sure.

Three, the economy. If it's TH10's complaining about loot, what do affecting TH7's or 8's gotta do with them? Your loot penalty is so heavy (50% of available resources...so 7% of what's in our storages and 25% of what's in our collectors) if y'all tried to raid us, we should be the least of your concerns. Mind you, the TH9's still potentially have the ability to still spend "extra elixir" on their walls to level 9 and 10...sooooo where exactly does the balancing come in with that? I mean, there is a cap regardless, and even TH9's get a penalty raiding us (though I know miniscule in comparison to TH10's). TH9's can still get 280K in gold/elixir from us if we have about 2.2 million in our storages of the respective resource anyway; and I don't know where y'all be looking, but I see plenty of TH8's and TH9's with wonderful loot in those abandoned collectors (TH10's too!) But I'm sorry, I'll bite my tongue, because last thing a TH9 or 10 would wanna see is a TH8 talking about they see good loot...but I mean...if I see em I know y'all got to see em too sometimes.

BUT I DIGRESS. Point is, people weren't open minded, so the louder party got their wish. All we can do (us affected by it) is just live with it. 500K per wall isn't that bad for me, but now I can't just upgrade my walls alongside my defense upgrades since I do mass upgrades. But hey, my defenses are almost done so eh. I guess if the economy "goes back up", they'll keep the the wall change at level 8 going into level 9 walls. If things don't change, then I guess we can speak up and get it back the way it was (though by then, it probably won't even affect me, but it's not just about me).

PS: All you experience people were in our places at one point, and at one point I know for a fact you may have loathed those price of walls when you first saw them. You handled your business though and I won't knock you for it, since it wouldn't make sense to. But you should understand the struggle regardless...you get it how you get, and if people were getting their walls by elixir then good for them. Shrug...let people do their hustle.

I can't quote SC saying it, but around the forum...I see it's majority of experienced players stating elixir was hard to find or loot in general. SC stated their reason for changing it anyway (which was based on user input), which I stated in my post about fixing the economy from apparent elixir shortages.

My argument is simply that, I feel it wasn't as "unbalanced" as it was made to be. My arguments were, people do seem to get bitter when new things are brought to assist the lower leveled players, though I can understand why, it come off a little selfish if they're always worried about what can benefit them [experienced players]. Things can be added for both spectrums to benefit all, but it is what it is.

Then use the elixer to build a better army that you can use to raid storages
or what i did when i was a th8 sitting on maxed storage of elixer all the time was push as high as i could and when i ran out of elixer i dropped trophies, got some more and restarted the cycle all over again
you got tons of elixer, use it for something that will help you

You have a point, but I have no issues farming any loot whatsoever. It's just the elixir accumulates after a while but I do see your point. But, saying that also goes back to the thing I said above when people have the mindset that "They didn't have a certain option so we shouldn't either/They did it so so can we". I hope that's not coming off rude, as I'm not trying to be, but I just still can't understand the current update dilemma.

I work for whatever I want anyway, so upgrading walls with just gold isn't mission impossible for me, but times changed, and it was a heck of a lot more convenient to have 3 Wizard Tower Upgrades going at the same time and spending some elixir to upgrade walls on the side. But eh. Change of plans.

I'm pretty sure SC doesn't do updates solely based on what users say, otherwise everyone would have a million gems, war opt out, heroes in war etc.

Surplus elixir in th8 isn't a cause for concern as you are only there for a month with just one level of wall to do at 112.5 million, th9 has 1 billion needed to max walls, same as th10, and you will spend several months there with nowhere to spend elixir.

Personally I would like it to be just lvl11 walls to be upgraded with elixir as that is what I'm doing, but looking objectively (something only those who already have full lego can do), I can say it makes perfect sense to only allow it for th9+ walls.

In the end SC got it wrong the first time and fixed it later, that's all. Quoting random people saying they didn't like it means nothing. Also following your argument why shouldn't you be able to do it from th2? Is it because you are a th8 and only care about doing skulls with elixir?

Do not come for me in such a manner because unlike the experienced people, if lower levels got the chance to upgrade walls with elixir, I would not complain. Like what? I clearly said if lower levels got the chance, for what reason would I even care what they are doing??? As a TH8, I wouldn't be raiding anyone below TH7, so I do not care if TH2 had that right. I would not deny anyone the right if they felt it need be. Why TH2 don't have it? Maybe SC feel they wouldn't need the option, though at any TH level, you can have excess elixir. I'm not biased. SC gave us something then turned around and took it. It might sound a little selfish on our part a bit, but oh, the greater town halls are loving that we are suffering and mad just to satisfy their egos but that's OK. I'm kind of stumped as to agree with this or not. When the elixir for walls came out a while ago a lot of people hated it and I wasn't very happy about it either. But now that's it's going away...I kind of don't want it to...

Then stating that other people are loving your 'suffering' is irrelevant to whether walls should be upgraded with elixir or not.

What you had to do to make a valid point is say why it should be kept the same, instead of being higher to lvl9 walls (as I stated you need around 10 times the resources needed to max walls and much longer time at th9), or lower than lvl6 walls at th2 or whatever.

All you have stated was your baseless opinion and acted as if it was some sort of fact, even after people have tried to convince you otherwise they cant as your opinion isn't based on anything for them to be able to refute, you're not willing to properly consider what other people have to say. Holy Christ guy, you're a TH8. Purple walls take like 40M to max out, so obviously TH7s can't dump all their stores into walls, you as the TH8 have about 125M for skull walls though. You are the ones who are starting the trend of dumping into walls, and the elixir shortage is hitting TH9s and TH10s. Of course you're finding raids, I bet you're leveling TH7s for 200k/200k minimum each time. Do you have any idea what elixir for walls at your level does to TH9s and TH10s though?

This update should never have happened in the first place, or it should have required that the player retained the maximum lootable amount for their TH in order to use elixir for a wall upgrade. Setting it from lvl9+ still does nothing to help the troubles TH10s continue to face. They either need to fix it with a restriction (which they could then allow lvl7+ to do it no problem), or get rid of it entirely for anything below lvl 11.

The louder party didn't get their wish. This elixir for walls update should have been handled in one of two ways:

A) Non-existent. Progress on walls would still be a grind for lvls 9+, but it wouldn't have affected the economy any worse than before, b/c there was no change.

2) Restricted. Require that the player retain the minimum elixir levels in storages after doing each wall piece so that they are still at the maximum loot cap for raiding players. (As a TH8, that's 2.15M. So you would need 2.65M or more in order to use 500k on a skull wall). That would completely solve the problem of overflowing storages (TH10s would have to have 8M to use elixir on a lvl 11 zap wall, but still allows for it), and it would not allow players to drain the elixir out of their storages purely by dumping it into walls.

The only reason someone could use against this option is that "well then I would still offer the max amount to someone raiding me" and I can only give the biggest F*** YOU to whoever who would try to use that response, considering how badly this update crippled the economy for TH9/10s for being able to offer nothing via a double resource dump.

This update (rather a partial revert on the first update) still does nothing to solve the problems at TH10, like you said, b/c it allows for TH9s to still dump elixir into walls, completely unrestricted. This should alleviate most of the problems TH9s were facing (for raiding TH8s at least), but once again SC put out a hastily thought-out band-aid fix to attempt to solve the problem, which is just plain lazy.

I work for whatever I want anyway, so upgrading walls with just gold isn't mission impossible for me, but times changed, and it was a heck of a lot more convenient to have 3 Wizard Tower Upgrades going at the same time and spending some elixir to upgrade walls on the side. But eh. Change of plans.

Or what you can do is what us advanced farmers did (as you seem to be one of them) and just move on to TH9. Read sharonysm's thread about being a premmie TH8/9 and you'll see that you're probably already on board to head to TH9 to get that offensive boost. There is a great need for elixir there, and you can slowly finish up your skulls while doing it.

Gama's logic wouldn't work here as the resource sink for everything TH6 and below has a very low ceiling, so everyone would quickly get their black/gold/pink walls and then start to accumulate elixir again. TH7 is around 40-50M to do all purple IIRC, but even that can be completed by smart farmers (the ones dumping their resources into it) in a matter of weeks. TH8 requires about 125M, and is where walls could begin to be considered that "endless resource sink," and that's where the problem lies, for TH9s and TH10s.

This has nothing to do with TH9s and TH10s pointing fingers and saying "nyah nyah look what you can't do" and has everything to do about the imbalance this caused for those higher levels.

I just wish you could be a TH10 for a week. Not in a snarky, "see how you like it" way, but so that you can actually see first-hand how bad it is with this update. I understood (or thought I did) the loot penalties and how it would affect each TH upgrade, and as a TH8 I couldn't understand how TH10s could have it so bad even before the lix for walls update. I was occasionally seeing a stacked TH9 or 10, like you mentioned, so I kept that in mind and thought "well they can see those bases too, and there really isn't a penalty for them." But what you're not realizing is that you skip those bases b/c they're iron-clad, while you are sifting through TH7s that are offering 200-300k total resources, or TH8s with 200-300k total resources, looking to find one that you want to hit. It's not a matter of what's available to you, it's "which base can I get most of these resources from?"

Even as a TH9, I didn't fully understand the problems at TH10. "It's just one level, and one less group of THs I can effectively farm." But there was a huge difference between conceptualizing how TH10 would be, as a TH9, and then experiencing just how bad it is when I finally got there.

This was all about attempting to fix the broken economy for higher level players (and I even pointed out that it once again falls short of fixing anything for TH10).

I would hope that you would want changes like these to go through for the good of the overall gameplay, as I'm sure you expect to be a TH9/TH10 one day as well.

Is counter logic. You build armies with elixir that you supposedly raid with a lot. If you have too much elixir and not enough black elixir/gold then build non-cost efficient armies to raid towns storing lots of gold (such as ballonion or GoWiPe). You can always spend excess amounts of purple elixir in healthy ways. Opposed to players having no purple elixir to raid - whatsoever - is endemic and is unhealthy for the game. When was loonions not cost effective. Sure it takes a while to train and you wont get as much resoruces as you can barching, lower leagues, but for me 95% of the time i profit from the raids and barching is out of the question in the higher leagues, black mortars, xbows, infernos at 10 and lvl 7 wizard towers makes it super hard. But then again i guess it isn't cost efficient in lower leagues, currently in C1 pushing to M3 with it and farming DE and gold.


Elixir for me is mostly neutral growth at least in C1, TH9 with lvl 6 loons (I use 24 loons 50 minions and if needed 1 spells, for 2 star as i am trophy pushing to masters atm). I gain DE after every raid. On avrage of 700 per raid. Yes i know its a bit on low side compared to collector farming but i raid storage and Once i hit M3 I will be gaining them for each win as the league bonus will cover the cost of my army minus maybe the occasional spell i will have to use.

But back to OP. If you are having excess elixir train Dragons and donate them to your Clan. You will use exilir and your clanmates will like you for the dragons you are donating. I am sure you can create a farming army with 3 barracks while 4th one keeps pumping out dragons to donate. Sure it will increase the time between raids but you will help clan out

Im at TH8 and I think elixer on walls should be done away with completely. I can't imagine the problem of excess

elixer everyone is talking about. How we complain about having too much of a resource? If i have all of this elixer but

nothing to spend it on then I don't need it. So why should I care if anyone comes and takes it. The only thing elixer on

walls did was speed up the process a little bit which isn't really a whole lot because we really are only talking about

walls anyway. This game isn't meant to be quick at higher levels. If it was then everyone would be a maxed TH10

already. If you want to take the time and effort to level up your walls then do so, if not then move on.

I am a th8 and when i farm for elixir i use BAM. With this i can get around 1-1.5 mil an hour. I get this much by finding dead bases or hitting th9 and 10s that have 200k+ with their storages closer to the outside. I have very little problem finding elixir and since all my lab upgrades take 5+ days i need something to spend my elixir on during that time.

I have 3 accts, a th8, th9, and th10. I think only allowing lvl9+ walls to be upgraded with elixir will help force a lot of loot back into the game especially around th8 and down -- which really isn't a bad thing for lower lvldd players. I support the Idea. Besides, us oldies had to upgrade walls with gold for almost our entire clash careers.....it's only fair to make you wait until lvl 9 walls to go through at least a portion of what we had to go through :)

First of all you keep saying it was your "right" to do this. It was not. Everything in the game is a privilege subject to change at any time. This is the contract you agree to by playing the game.

Second you know how you don't care whether or not lower levels could dump elixir in to walls? Well we don't care that you can. The issue is that loot at TH10 sucks. It sucks bad. The wall change made it suck worse.

SC doesn't typically listen to who yells the loudest. They constantly monitor resource availability (they would be very foolish not too) and then they make changes as they deem appropriate. SC implemented the elixir for walls change, waited a bit, monitored the situation and decided "Hey this has created too much of an imbalance."

I too, like Goobers, wish you could be TH10 for a week. Us higher THs have been where you are, but you have no idea of what the game is like for us. Start going through your attack log. Now deduct 50% of the loot from all of your TH8 raids and 75% of the loot from all of your TH7 raids. Be honest with yourself as you do it. Also double the cost of every next you do. Also double your troop costs. Now triple or quadruple the cost of every one of your upgrades.

I'm not so much whining about TH10 as I'm trying to get through to you that resource management at TH10 is completely different.

At TH7 and TH8 you are in the best spot possible for loot in this game. Thus far your capacity to gather loot has increased at every TH level. Well when you move on to TH9 and TH10, your capacity to gather loot drops precipitously.

Step back and look at that before you accuse others of taking delight in your "suffering". This game is not all about you and your so called plight. SC is trying to ensure the game is fun for everyone who plays it.

I think SC should have made them from lv10=)

I was a mid-way th8 when the last wall update came out. When I found out that we could use elixir to upgrade walls, I stopped spending gold on walls entirely, and only used elixir (I had completed all lvl7 walls with gold :mad:). I maxed my defenses, and took most of my barracks to 9 (1 to 10) to research PEKKA. I maxed my walls out at lvl8 3 days before my th9 was completed. That meant that I had 6m gold and about 5m elixir when my th9 was complete. So, was the previous wall update great for me? Yes. Do I think that they should make the rule be lvl8 walls instead (due to the cost)??? Maybe...

For me though, I was saving every ounce of DE that I could get a hold of to max my BK. I didn't put any into minions, hogs, etc. But now... all of you th7s and th8s get more DE drills. Do you hear the th9s and th10s complaining about it? No. Take the good with the bad. You will have all of your DE troops maxed in no time. You may have to be at th7/8 for an extra month, but so what. Enjoy the fun you will have raiding all of the other bases with all of those maxed troops! Like the others have said, TH9/10 raiding is much more difficult, and we can't hit the abandoned th6/7 bases for massive scores.

When it all comes down to it, SC is letting you play an amazing game for free! If you want to upgrade quicker, spend money on gems. If you don't, welcome to the grind.

Here's Marika's explanation. It makes sense to me and makes the point clear: wall upgrades with elixir were added to help players with high level wall upgrades.

But they aren't. They are complaining that they have too much resources. They literally have so much access to loot that they cannot spend it. Then they have the gal to whine about their so called rights and accuse others of delighting in their suffering.

I think it's too bad that the walls can't be upgraded with elixer anymore. It really sped up grinding those walls. On the other hand, I think it's great to have more elixer available while raiding.
Got lots of lab upgrades to do and will probably max out barracks. Didn't prioritize them, since I only barch and didn't need a pekka yet + dark troops other than minions or hogs. But since the elixer will go up, that motivates to max out everything and not only the defences.

I also really like the second de drill at th8, that will make much better raiding for th9+ and will help greatly for maxing out my BK and minions and stuff.

I think walls should be upgraded with elixir from level 7-8, i don't feel good with this change because now I will waste lot of elixir, in fact I have just finished to upgrade all troops and all elixir buildings :/

There is a bottleneck on what I can spend elixer on - barracks, troops, laboratory and a few one offs here and there.

I already have more elixer than I know what to do with!

People welcomed ideas to make it more valuable to them when they stopped needing it for those big ticket building/troop upgrades, but having maxed storages was never an issue. This update has only been in effect for about 3 months now. Have TH8s really forgotten that before this update everyone from TH1-9 got by just fine, with maxed elixir storages? Even TH10s didn't have it terribly bad, at least not to the point of the desolate wasteland that it is now.

The opposite, however, was detrimental to the game. Having overflowing storages was a nuisance in the sense that the resource lost its value to you personally (for the TH level you were at the given time, at least), but having it removed from the system made it the most valuable and rarest resource in the game. You can't do that when that resource is what fuels attacks, which basically drive the game.

A modified version of this update would have satisfied both parties without affecting the economy from either end. We'd have two resources that retained their value at all stages of each TH lvl from 7-10, and the only way players would be able to reduce their elixir storages under the loot cap would be if they did their wall upgrade first and used the remaining on a building or troop upgrade requiring the juice. But that would only happen by the most efficient resource-managing farmers, and is quite frankly smart play.

Hearing all the higher level players say that the available loot is terrible is the reason I think it should go away. Being at TH8 I wont need elixir to upgrade my walls when the time comes. It would be nice for it to stay but oh well. If I want to upgrade my walls then I need to spend the time and effort to do it with gold if not then I need to move on. I know once I reach TH10 I will appreciate the more elixir available for me too loot. Although maybe it should go away completely just start at level 9 walls 3 MIL. is quite expensive.
