I think this feature is important. Because your gold and elixir income is only from collector and loot. When your clanmates need gold/elixir u can lend your gold to clanmates. Sorry for my bad english and I'm still newbie in this forum :D CMIIW :)

People would use this to create a clan on their main account and feed their alternate account for free. Also gold selling sites could use this to violate the games EULA and sell in game currency to people at rates lower than the cost of gems.
I too would like this.

Because:
1. People would create dummy accounts for the sole purpose of generating resources for their main.
2. Two words: Gold Sellers
3. People would rotate resources between shielded accounts
In short, it would ruin the game.
