To have the same DPS with doubles rate, you must have half damage, no need for an official post, it's just logic and math

The Problem you have is the difference between Damage per Second and Damage per Shot.
Now: 1 Archer Tower shot 1 time in 1 second and got the same DamagePerSecond-Value like DamagePerShot
After Update: 1 Archer Tower shot 2 times in 1 second and got the half DamagePerShot-Value like DamagePerSecond.

It would be like taking a fully upgraded TH lvl 5 with 20 lvl 1 Barbarians. Some things, while the comunity would love to see some extreme players do things like this, should not be possible. If they are then balancing the game becomes impossible.
