You didn't buy the shields. You bought gems to support a charity. To show off to everyone else and say "Look what I did" you had a shield.
Allowing you to keep the shield just allows to show for all eternity that in November/ December 2014 your contribution to ending aids was £2.99
Tell that to breast cancer supporters/athletes. They buy the clothes because they're for a good cause, same here
