This is Outrageous... StafF Can Mute You on Forums (I don't mean Ban, I mean Mute)

Hate to come on and have my first post be a rant, I'm actually doing this for my brother.

He would do it himself, but apparently no one can read his posts or threads. The funny thing is he was never warned or notified by anyone on the staff for anything. He apparently violated no rules, because think about it, if you violate a rule, you get an infraction of some sort or you get banned for whatever length of time or forever. He received neither. Someone just chose to mute everything he ever wrote and they deleted about 4 days worth of threads without giving any reason whatsoever.

This is outrageous, and here is the proof. He had a hunch these past couple weeks though he hadn't been on much lately so when he never received replies to his posts within threads, he just figured people overlooked the messages, but he became curious when he created a thread and putting aside no one responded, not a single person even viewed the thread on this sub forum.

We understand censorship to a degree, since this is a family oriented forum, but deleting 3 or 4 days worth of posts and threads and then muting everything else is beyond outrageous, especially when not even so much as a notice was given. They let him continue to waste his time submitting responses and creating a few threads without any kind of common courtesy.

This is actually really weird, and silly if this turns out to be true.

This should not be a discussion. Contact a moderator or admin and they'll explain their actions.

discussing here isn't productive and won't change much.

This is generally called a shadow ban and works well in distracting trolls/intentionally toxic people because they'll waste their time posting instead of going to a new account when banned. They won't know if people are simply ignoring them right away so they'll keep posting for a while.

Like Conan mentioned, it's not very useful to post about this if you're seeking to appeal the ban because we're only hearing one side of the story

Why? The people have a right to know. There is no mention anywhere in the rules that they will do this to you. Granted they have the power to do whatever they want, but the people also have a right to know that this can be done to them. They never explained their actions to begin with, so why bother making up reasons now. If he had done something truly wrong, they would have notified him of the reasons and taken action, not just put him on mute. It's more apparent that they did it because they didn't like something he said, but it wasn't in any way violating any sort of rules.

Conan has a point. They have their reasons and ask them about it. We are not allowed to discuss bans. This is probably a similar situation to that. If it was a mistake, it will only be fixed by contacting them. However, I think that they had solid reasoning behind it. Leave it be or contact a mod.

EDIT: It also appears he has been global blocked as well, can't view his posts and threads. And he's been visited by Tinkerbell.

He posted a thread which only they can read apparently regarding this and they have yet to comment about anything. He'll throw rants and he's political about things but he's not a disrespectful. Fine, you seem to believe he did something wrong, well now he's on to their game, so they should let him know now why they did this.

He has a feeling he knows why they did it, but it's a political difference of views rather than trolling as you seem to believe. I won't say why, because they should be able to provide their reasons at this point for why they did it. If they have the power to do whatever they want on the forums, they also have the power to be decent and provide reasons that actually make sense.

He said he posted the thread that everyone seems to have posted on that was asking which age group dominated the forums.

He also posted a thread about if anyone had ever noticed that loot search results were different when you had incomplete armies vs a complete army.

A bunch of other stuff, but he says he also made posts speaking out against people trolling other people, never disrespectful though, he would actually try and calm the situation. If anything, he was just strong in his views.

The terms of service applies to the game/service being accessed. It is not meant as a code of conduct for the forums.

Your brother has been placed on the global ignore list for an unknown reason. Global ignore hides the user and all of his posts from the rest of the community. I don't know why (The one example you gave didn't seem in any way to be violating forum rules with his thread) but IMO he shouldn't have been placed on global ignore without being given a reason. That seems rude and frankly cruel.

I'd contact a moderator about this, as it may just be an accident.

Other dude I know who was global muted was awesome[numbers], he was really annoying posting these bragging threads about his lvl4 AD... He was just trolling but all his threads were pointless and to, well, troll.

Lol that's what he's thinking, but not in your typical trollish spamming way. He believes it was more a political action for something he said, just as you say really pushed someone's buttons. I know i'm biased, but he's not a disrespectful guy, but if he sees something doesn't make sense he's not afraid to call it out.

He said something to someone and i think i know who as we're talking about it, and i don't think they had an answer, but it upset them, so they did this. If i produce all the evidence, it'll start to become clearer, but i won't because we're waiting to see what action that person will take next.

that doesn't make any sense, you're thinking about the wrong person. He is a town hall 8, fully maxed, he has had his air defenses at level 6 ever since he came onto the forums. that would mean he is not the person you are talking about.

I never said that he's trolling. I don't even know who he is and I was merely explaining a reason shadow bans occur. This is sort of why I said that it's not very useful to post about it and say that he didn't deserve the ban since now we're at assumption. He's assuming that this happened due to political differences but there's no solid evidence of that and it's not like other players can do anything about this. It just leads to more assumptions as seen with THNSUM's post.

That being said, there's nothing wrong with informing people that they could get shadow banned/get added to global ignore list though

Also DokuganR's AD comment was about someone else who shared a similar experience with your brother and not about your brother

Fine believe what you will, but we live under the same roof and i don't usually do this (i mean talk on forums), that's his thing, but this isn't right so darn straight, i will defend him since apparently he's been stripped of his voice.

you've replied to several of his threads, and your views actually seem aligned for the most part from what he's showing me. You never disrespected him and he never disrespected you, but even with proof, people have their doubts.

The thing about this shadowban as some are calling it, is that it wipes people out from existence on the forums, and you guys can't seem to recall, nor can you validate that whether his posts were good or bad. He can show you if he must, through me of course, but people still wanna believe the guy is a criminal on the forums because why would someone ever abuse their power, right? In the history of the world, no one has ever done that...(sarcasm)

None of us have any "Rights" here. We are allowed to use the forums so long as Supercell sees us fit. What constitutes "Fit" is for them to decide and us to conform to if we wish to continue using this service free of charge. They are also not obligated tell you why.

Oviously they did it because they didnt like something he said..... And if they didnt like it, it violated the only rule that matters: Supercell owns the game and these forums and you are merely a guest of convenience.

Also notifying the person that they have been shadow banned, is basically ruining the point as one person said, as then all they have to do is create another account.
If the moderators decided that something he said was against the Rules of the Forum, then they have the right to shadow ban him. There is no arguement as at the opening of the forum rules (which all forum users should've read) says that moderators have the final choice on all matters. Matters like these should not be made public, as everyone that follows all the correct rules and regulations should've read the foeum rules and be able to understand that moderators are allowed to make decisions such as these when they feel required.

They do have the right to know, and they should know that moderators can and will modify their accounts in any way that thy feel necessary. I hope this thread gets closed soon, you should have not made this a public matter as everyone who reads forums rules already knows about this. You should've PMed a moderator to clarify and discuss

Real smart, my name is Robert (Bob) and in was born in 1989 (89), and we live under the same roof, you happy detective. This is why i don't normally do forums because of the all the geniuses that think they've cracked the case. It's fine though, obviously none of you remember him, or you wouldn't be saying what your saying. In fact, he can show you screenshots of every thread where most of you have either responded to something he wrote, or shared common thoughts with him, but never trolling. You don't know ANY of the posts your brother made in the past, so how can you judge on whether he did anything wrong or not? The decision was that of the moderators, and unless it was an accident I am willing to bet a lot on the fact he did something bad.

I dont think you grasp the concept of a "right".

Supercell can take away this knowledge and this thread by deleting it and banning your account. They have every right to do this without warning or explanation if they see fit.

They can control every aspect of this forum without the need of godly or mystical powers.

While you can't see them, I can see them, because he's showing them too me. And yes a mod most definitely can, and let's see what they'll find because i'm not seeing anything going back a week now and prior to that he was receiving responses from people on threads which means it couldn't have happened that long ago, but nothing i'm seeing is so terrible that it constituted the action they took.

Look mod decisions are made by looking at ALL the facts involved many of which are not visible to the general forum population - it's not fair or within the rules to start a debate about mod decisions certainly as you guys can't see why they were taken.

OP - for sure ask your brother to contact player support if he is not happy.
