1.5 years ago they took less space and were pretty much a different troop. Ever since the update where troops now target the same wall, wall breakers have been acting differently.

Please tell me that I didn't use the properly and it works just fine.

I beg the differ. AI is bad for King, but PEKKA & AQ is not that bad. Yes, I saw a lot of case that AQ's AI make you lost 3* or 2*, but most of the time it's predictable. Dragon is fine if you know what you are doing. Healers's AI getting worst after the update that suppose to "improve" healer.
You must be new here.
Spot on. It was really bad, I heard. But it got MUCH better. However, they change things. They make troops target the same piece of wall, and they messed Wbs up.
Super!! Please explain HOW to use them properly then. For the first layer, they are fine. But after that, they are comically dumb. I'd love to see a guide that explains how they work now because I test them daily, put in hundreds of attacks, I look at replays and I cannot figure a "proper" way to use them. This is a strategy game, there is a learning curve, but with the wall breakers how can you learn anything or apply any kind of strategy with the busted AI?
As you may have noticed, dribbling out WB's a little at a time seems to have little to no effect. The first one will head for a wall and, if he makes it, maybe blow a hole, but the rest of them run all over the base like a bunch of chickens with their heads cut off. I have found the dumping WB's en-mass seems to work much better.
The three best ways that I have found to deploy them are:
1) Double tap. Send a pair, wait about half a second, send another pair. Rinse and repeat. What usually happens is, by the time the second (third, fourth etc) pair arrives, the first is just about to blow the hole. The second pair will pause for a second and as soon as the hole blows they will go through and head for the next compartment.
2) Release them in a cloud. Just spam the whole bunch of them. Similar to the scenario above. The group pauses at the wall while the first one to arrive blows a hole. They usually all then go in the hole and head for the next compartment.
3) Line formation. Similar to deploying barbs/archers for a barch attack. Lay down a string of WB's parallel to the wall you want a hole in. This attack seems to be best for cores that are only behind two walls. They all select their own section of the outer wall and blow a hole in it, opening up that section of the base for follow on attackers.
All of these methods assume you are waiting for splash damage to pass and you have point defenses occupied by other troops.
Method 1 and 2 seem to work best for layers. Wait for splash damage to pass, have a distraction (meat shield) out for point defenses and, what I do sometimes, lay down a heal spell where you are going to blow the hole(s).
WB AI is tricky at best good luck with it.
Wallbreakers target the closest building covered with walls, once you know that it will be easier to use them :)
I wish the wall breaker update, back in 2013 never happened. Back in the day wall breakers only cost 1 space and only ran in straight lines.
Yes I am still salty about something that happened over a year and a half ago.
I don't mind them...
Wall breakers are great -
Learn how to deploy them.
they always go for the wall closest to where they are being dropped and sometimes if you are lucky, the weakest connection in the wall (usually corners and or where different level walls connect)
Wall breakers don't need to be fixed, just thanked.
Thank you wall breakers :o for making a path for my gobbies to loot, giants to smash and barb to tap tap tap with their little swords.

This one happened to me today, the ones dropped after 55s in did not go where I expected them to.

If you think this Wall breaker (WB) AI is bad look at previous videos on youtube of their old AI, Supercell did a great job on the new AI. It's all about your placement.
OLD AI Watch the first bit of the video.
