Im going to use 7 dragons in my attack and was wondering what I should look for in a base to attack (resources and trophies wise) and also should I spread them out or put all in a group together? I am level 42. And I have 1200 trophies.
Thanks,

Seven dragons is a pretty costly army setup (175K elixir at lvl 1). I would suggest sticking to a more cost effective traditional army composition (barb/archer/gob/wb) unless you have a problem with maxing out elixir.
To answer your question, if I recall correctly, most players deploy dragons in an L shape. This avoids splash damage from air bombs and wizard towers.
I also raid with dragons (lvl 2) at 1600 trophy level. My typical combo is 3 lightning, 25 archers, 15 barbs, king, and 8 dragons. I look for TH9 with max loot, ground-only xbows, and bad air defense positions. Thanks to the loot bonus I can constantly get 300k each with 1500+ DE.
I will take out the most upgraded, and centered air defense with lightning, then take out another AD hopefully with my king and some archers, then work on the 3rd with the rest of my ground troops. Then I will deploy ally dragons near the 4th so it can be taken down while causing min damage. The dragons will spread out themselves to comb thru the base and you can sit back and relax.
The biggest 2 threats to dragons are air defense and air-covering xbows. So don't attack with dragons if the base has 4 upgraded AD in the middle or xbows pointing toward the sky at 45 degree angle.
L shape works pretty well - since dragons attack the closest target, this formation ensures that your troops would move towards the center and ensures an even "sweep" through the base. If you had just deployed them in a bunch, not only would you be vulnerable to splash, you also risk the dragons spreading out and going around the base instead. Same principle applies to pekkas, actually.
You want to generally target bases with low level air defenses, or air defenses that are closer to the outside edges that can be taken out before they do too much damage.

No I raid whenever my troops are ready. I have 4 lvl 9 barracks, so I can make 8 dragons in 1 hr. After raiding and I used up everything, I will put 3 lightning spells in queue and produce giant/archerss/goblins army to do a quick raid on weak bases, hoping to loot some exilir. Then I will build my main army of 8 dragons. This way I could raid twice during the 90 mins while waiting for the spells.
I started using this tactics when upgrading my king. Now my king is maxed at lvl 5, minions upgraded to lvl 2, and I even have too much DE so that I am upgrading hog riders.
Thanks for help guys. I got a 500k raid and 200 dark elixir (hard to get elixir down here)
Thanks,
