Don't allow players and clans named after terrorists

No, you shouldn't be suspicious of me because of my name just because it is Irish, but if I named my clan the IRA you would be safe to assume something.

I never accused everyone having an Muslim name of being terrorist. I only said that people shouldn't be allowed to name themselves after known terrorists or terrorist groups.

I guess your point is that non-terrorists could also have these names? That may be true, just like a non-Nazi might have the last name Hitler. But if my last name happened to be Hitler, I wouldn't use it as my in game name, because I wouldn't want people to get the wrong idea. I hope people anyone whose last name happened to be Bin Laden or Al-Baghdadi would do likewise.

You are expecting people to hide their name in shame because you said so?

I don't know why anyone would assume that these folks are not peaceful, desiring nothing more that to live and let live... Some are even nice enough to express thier peaceful intention in thier clan names or description...

I dont see why you would upload a pic of someone supporting Hamas. Again the game doesnt support a particular political view point, it would lose profits from that. In that case they may as well ban anything related to israel as they keep blowing up hospitals and schools in Palestine. Or block anything related to USA for all the atrocities commited in places like Vietnam during the Cold War. We can get into a whole popitical debate about it but no, this is a game, go read the ToS.

First, a jihad is a war against those who refuse to submit to islam. It is the same thing as the christian crusaders, and it is a form of terrorism.

it looks like only one part of that has anything to do with war, and this doesn't mean it is terrorism, otherwise Americans are the biggest terrorists on the planet, since gaining independence only a few hundred years ago they have gone to war with pretty much everyone all across the globe.

So to say it again, stop being so ignorant, stop forcing your own deluded opinions on to others, stop trying to politicise the game and trying to get the game to enforce your ignorant views.

Also last I checked terrorists are allowed to play this game too, so what's wrong with them having a clan :rolleyes:

We DO need to stay on topic though - Should SC allow players and clans named after terrorists?

We should stay away from a debate about what defines terrorists/freedom fighters etc please, this is a gaming forum not a political debate forum.

My 2c - any offensive name should be banned and a clan or player named after a terrorist would come under that but it needs the community to play their part in reporting it.

But terrorists are people too and it is only natural that other people share those names. Reporting someone who happens to share the same name as a terrorist seems unacceptable and completely unnecessary to me

Sure if it is a common name I agree with you but the question is whether or not they (i.e. intentionally offensive/contentious names) should be allowed.

Lol well we did become a poli debate forum for a bit there didnt we. I agree with you on this, but what about words or phrases that have twisted meanings because of global events? For instance the example of jihad. Some will say it calls for active violence while some say it calls for an inner struggle? Would that just be a judgement call on SCs/players to determine the purpose behind the word?
