I'd upgrade archers too. Just get the more expensive archers out of the way. Plus, most decent clans require level 5 archers or above

Always archers.
Barch = great.
Barbs by them self = useless.
Archers by them self= an army that can get you to 4k. (So great)

Archers for sure, then barbs. Barbs will be the meat shield regardless so you want your DPS to be a bit stronger.

I BArch, and I did the barbs first each level. But considering Barbs and archers were my first two upgrades at 7, 8, and 9 the order wasn't too important. I chose Barbs first simply because they took less time to complete, so it improved me farming army quicker.
