Lava loonion

So im a th9 working on lvl 9 walls so they are done before i upgrade. I love using loonion attacks but my question is lava loonion really useful at th9 or do I need max hounds and a freeze spell to really make it work on good bases?

Lava hounds are a very useful troop, don't neglect them; tanks can turn the tide of a battle.

So your saying even at lvl 2 with no freeze spell the lava loonion attack is a valuable option at th9?
