New Trap: Tornado tower

Description: a trap tower that houses a trapped tornado! When triggered a tornado arises from within the hidden tower to suck in troops into a clump to the tower or blow them away!

Appearance: a tower appears from under the ground and then opens up on four sides to release the trapped tornado
Note: the appearance is in fact my least concern as the concept is my biggest concern. So since originally I called it the Tornado Tower the name itself may even change. Everything is subject to change. It's the concept that is important and should stay the same

I apologize as there really isn't any art I could think of to illustrate this. I also would like to note I don't know how to attach a picture to threads. I know it's off topic but if you could tell me how I would appreciate it. I have searched how myself but I for some reason couldn't find how.

Unlocked at Town Hall 9
Town hall 9- number unlocked- 1
Town hall 10- number unlocked-2

Stats:
Cost to build: 1,000,000 Gold
Re-arm Cost: 30,000 gold
Space: 2x2
Trigger Radius while set to Blow: 5 tiles
Trigger Radius while set to Suck: 4 tiles
Effect Radius while set to Blow: 7 tiles
Effect Radius while set to Suck: 5 tiles
Duration of Effect: 5 seconds
Troop Limit: 30-40 (based on housing space)

Note:the troop limit is there as a placeholder so that people know there will be a troop limit however a more permanent one will come with more reasoning and feedback.

Additional details:
-This building is not upgradeable like the Spring Trap.
-Effects both ground and air units. Only trap that would do this at the same time. Unlike the skeleton trap.
-Can be switched to blow away troops out of the Area of effect or sucked in towards the tower for the duration of the effect. Then Tower disarms and goes back underground.
-hides in much the same way as the Hidden Tesla but is a trap instead of a defense and doesn't count towards the destruction percentage of bases.
-does no damage but is intended to be taken advantage of its ability to push and pull troops.
-Does not work on Heroes, Golems and Pekkas due to their heavy weight much in the same way with the spring traps.

Intended use of trap- to take advantage of its ability to push and pull troops. For example, when troops are pulled towards the center they can be stuck there while splash damage and other defenses attack the doomed clumped enemies.
On the other hand, blowing away troops keeps that area inaccessible to both air and group troops. However this can be taken advantage of. For example, if the Tornado Tower was placed inside of your walls, if properly placed and the troops are coming at the right angle, the tower can potentially blow those troops diagonally alongside the inside of your wall in a predictable path that can lead them to other traps or defenses. There could be other unknown ways to use Tornado Tower's ability. However in the air troops case ,they will simply be blown out of the area of effect, but possibly blown into the radius of air based traps.

The reason I would love this trap to be implemented is in hopes to add another interesting dynamic to trap placement, base design, and overall gameplay.

Pretty cool, pretty descriptive. also if it would be upgardable ytou should do somethng like F1, F2, F3, F4, F5, like a real tornado

I dont see why it would be upgradeable unless the AOE/trigger/duration were upgraded but honestly I don't think that should happen.

Thank you for taking the time and effort to articulate your idea clearly. It is very appreciated by all of the forum regulars and I am sure you will get far more notice from SC. Well done.

That said, I like it. Perhaps two radius when triggered? One smaller radius that sucks in troops for 5-10 seconds and a larger one that it scatters them over? I have made different suggestions in the past that were intended to inject a form of chaos to the battlefield. Yours is more simple and strait forward though which is always big on SC's design criteria list. Just picture a half dozen wall breakers getting tossed randomly about. I'd be like the night sky on the 4th of July!

But on the idea, very well done. The trap seems like a great new way to troll your attacker with blowing them away. They're gone, like socks in a washing machine

I'm glad people actually appreciated the effort and I hope supercell thinks it's an idea they want to take their game in.

i think the smaller trigger radius suggestion is understandable. I shall edit that in.

now about that wall breaker comment and I've gotta say I rather enjoy that image in my head! It's also going to be one of those things that happens that would dishearten people and their attack. It's devious.

It looks like a great addition to this wonderful game. Very detailed description too. I really hope they add this, but would it be better to add it to TH8 then you can upgrade and get more at TH9/10

I know. I intentionally made it that high considering what it does. I know it's steep but if I recall the highest lvl giant bomb's re-arm cost is 20,000 gold. Would the Tornado Tower's re-arm cost be ok at 25,000 gold?

I like the idea. Would add some interesting aspects to the game.

Would the spell work on all troops? I believe it shouldn't work on air, royalty (king, queen), pekka, and golem. If it did it would be kinda OP in my opinion. Thank you for your time :)

It's not a spell, it's a defense building and yes it should work on both air and ground. However I have considered it not working on certain troops like heroes, Pekkas and Golems due to their heavy weight. I'll add that in.
Also, Its not necessaryily OP when it doesn't even do damage. You have to place it strategically to get the most out of it. Poorly placed it can fail and be useless. Besides its effect only lasts 5-10 seconds. You'd have to rely on the defenses around this trap for it to work properly in your favor. But again I'm adding the units this trap wouldn't affect seeing as how the spring trap also has such details in its workings.

Need continued feedback. Not enough.

By far for me the better idea that I have read in a while.

Great idea, but just minimize the radius a little. 8 tiles is too much! And which troops wouldn't it affect?

You do realise.. that such a Tornado Tower, if existed, would suck all Hogs in a hog rush and it would be impossible to use Hogs. It would also suck all dragons in a dragon rush. So basically, i don't see how this idea is workable.


You could then limit the number of troops it can suck (i don't intend any pun here even though i want to laugh out loud). But that would turn it into something like a spring trap. Except, spring trap throws stuff in Air, this one would pull it underground.

Oh My Gosh That Overpowered I would be shocked just say i spawn 240 barbarians and then.. i see the trap pop up....

You must understand that it sucking in units is the whole point. So yeah, if it didn't have a troop limit, of course it's going to suck in units that are rushing.

I like the idea of pulling in units under the ground however this tower is supposed to do no damage meaning that underground compromise is a no go but the troop limit is reasonable. The question is what may be the troop limit for this Tower to suck and blow. And no it wouldn't turn it into a spring trap by simply adding a troop limit.

8 tiles is on the blow function. That's also the effect range on the blow function the trigger radius is smaller. With that in mind and considering that this tower does no damage anyways idk if I would change the AOE range on the blow function

Keep in mind that the tower itself does no damage. It's the defenses near the trap that get in the damage and especially splash damage. I felt because of that the radius could use a little more. Originally I thought about the range being smaller but it seemed useless as a trap at that point.

With the trap duration. Do u mean that for the duration everything within the range is sucked in/ blown out constantly? With the suck in would this make it a 5 second stun on troops? I think it should have a slightly delayed trigger for the suction version and then only activate once with no duration. For the blow make it no duration as well. Maybe also actually make the trigger radius smaller than the effect radius so that (hopefully) more troops can be inside the radius in battles.
