Have been Hogging since TH8. Look for tight bases without Double Giant Bomb spots, for TH9 drop 1 Wtich and replace the Rage and Freeze with Heals.

For TH9
- Bait with 1 Hog ahead to trigger traps, then enough Hogs to bait CC fully.
- Lure to a safe corner nearest to enemy AQ with an Archer (or Barbs if no safe spot).
- Deploy support units in this exact order: Barbs, CC (2 Witches, Wiz, 2 Barbs), Witch, AQ, 6 Wiz.
- Once CC destroyed wait till the enemy AQ engages support units then deploy BK.
- Release the Hogs, 1 first if there is risk of traps; Heal over Giant Bomb Spots BEFORE Hogs step on them in their path.
- Enjoy the show!
If you see a single Double Giant Bomb spot in the core you can sometimes (not always) use a Rage to run the Hogs out of danger zone. But only experience will help you with that. Generally not recommended.
Hogs are not dead. But you need to pick targets.

modified gowipe with hogs can also be pretty consistent for stars.
