Im currently a th 8 with a level 5 barb king, each upgrade seems to only adds a few dps and a some hitpoints. Is it worth upgrading thr barb king very high? Or is the difference not very noticeable from the lower levels in attacks.

Im no big statistics guy, nor a pro in any means, but I do know that at level 5 his special power is unlocked. And to upgrade him there is like 10k de the first time, 13k de the second, 16k de the third , 18 de the fourth , and like 20k de the second time. IMO for offense Id rather rock with pimpped out PEKKAS but since the hero is already in the inventory you might as well. In defending aspects, a level 5 or higher Barb king will do a lot of help. I hope I helped you a little at least!
The answer is yes. If you think it is not too hard for you to raid DE, you should at least upgrade your King to LV8.
Since after you move to TH9, you don't need to worry about your King for a long time, you can keep upgrading your AQ, which is more powerful than King in farming.
The stats improve at a decent pace until level 15. But as a TH8 i would not sweat it out.
King has been nerfed 50%+ since the hero nerf. And Queen has found new love by hitting walls. But Remember they are still a free troop that dont occupy space in camps.
If you have a the DE trigger the upgrade, else ... meh... you can do it easily as TH9 too.
Often the individual levels don't bring much improvement. However they all stack up. A level 40 barb King is a beast compared to a level 1 barb king. But you can't get to level 40 without getting to level 39. You can't get to level 39 without level 38....and so on.
Have ven you ever heard high level players say that their heros are so weak they don't miss them when they raid? ...yeah me either.
Upgrading him at th8 may or may not be what's best for you to do. You need to see how all the rest of your game is progressing. But every level makes the barb King better.
Difference between two levels is unnoticeable. Difference between 10 levels is huge. I like using my lvl 23 Barb King in Wars, but I LOVE using my lvl 24 Archer Queen for Farming, wars, push, you name it. No better troop in the game than her. Keep investing, it pays off later.
Upgrading King is worth it. DPS may be going up slowly but it makes a very big difference in your raids.
Of course it's worth it. I have yet to see anyone with a lev 40 queen with a lev 1 BK.
Definitely worth it. The Heros are critical to your success later on.
It gains a significantly amount of hp. I say it's worth it.
Max lvl for BKs at TH8, is just lvl 10
so... just max it for the time being
every upgrade is "worth" it
Very worth it! I am a max TH10, except heros. Lab has been done for a while, defences have been done for a while. Just upgrading heros. Let me tell ya, I MISS my lvl 31 king when he is being upgraded. Not as much as my lvl 31 queen. But still, he ROCKS. Release 20-30 barbs and the king. Hit his rage and watch the mayhem!
My only regret through COC was not maxing my heroes earlier. They make such a huge difference. So, prioritize your heroes before everything else on every townhall level. Trust me, your builders will sit idle for months. Lab will set idle for months. Everything will done except heroes. And it is NO fun to be a max TH10 struggling in wars without your king and queen cause they are being upgraded.
It is very much worth it upgrading both heroes (the aq is stringer than the bk however). In the long run, they both turn into total beasts around 30 so it is best to get them started asap! If you need any reminder of how powerful max heroes are (even after being nerfed), head over to youtube and check out some players with maxed heroes. Tyreal Gaming and Beakers Lab are two good channels to check out. Chief Pat is a little more mainstream but has maxed heroes as well- although he was essentially given them by gem sponsers.
Upgrading heroes is a long process so start early and keep on with it. I noticed the first big difference when my BK got to 20 but that was pre-nerf, they get stronger earlier now. And they will make or break your raids later on so the higher the level they are the better. It's the difference between 1-starring a maxed base and getting a reliable 2 star or even the odd 3 star.
I'm th8 and I have BK lv 5 and I will upgrade it only after my lv 4 hogs.
100% worth it. One of the first things I did was get my bk to 10 at th8 -- I went into it max'd from th7@5 so it didn't take me too long.
Couldn't explain in words how much easier my raiding/wars have been since I upgraded him to 10.
There will be times with a TH10 when you just have too much DE, so the King might get it
My Lev 21 king has a big issue : he often dies or get seriously hurt during raids, so i am used to raid without hil and mainly rely on troops and queen if a hero is needed.
I hope that when he will be maxed he will come back in better health from raids and the queen will have her levels growing then.
Every 5 levels of upgrades for a hero sees a massive spike in usefulness. The 4 previous levels are kind of "meh". This is because the ability unlocks are the real key to making your heroes useful (or useless).
Something I see a LOT of people doing is dropping their hero, then immediately using their ability. This is BAD.
For the King, you want to wait until he's near some high HP buildings (storages, anyone?), and at less than 60% health (this number drops lower the higher level the king is, as his ability restores *more* health with levels). Then, pop his ability, watch him go ham, and overall, live a lot longer and cause a lot more damage.
For the AQ, you want to wait until something dangerous has locked on to her. Personally, I wait until an Xbow locks onto her, then pop the ability. Or, if she's cleaning up at the end, the second she starts to take damage, I pop the ability.
With good use of hero abilities, you'll be able to minimize your hero down time, and make proper use of the unit.
Just know that the first 5 levels are the best bang for your buck investment (something like +100% usefulness), followed by 6->10 (around ~+60% effectiveness), followed by 10->15 (about ~+35-40%). After that, each 5 level chunk represents a ~15% increase in effectiveness. You definitely want to prioritize leveling heroes in 5 level increments, as pausing at odd number levels is kind of worthless.
