Can I get some comments on what to expect with loot during the XMAS update. I believe there was collector and barracks 1 gem boost? How was the abundance of dead bases?
An old clanny told me he farmed all his skull walls during the xmas update of 2013 (as a th8).
I am mostly interested how high town halls (9&10) loot was. But feel free to comment with your town hall during xmas 2013 (not 2012), and your opinions of farming during that update.
I know last year it was barrack/collector 1 gem boost. I hope they at least do collectors again. I'm worried they won't because they didn't do much for CoC's 2nd birthday. I figure that would have had a better boost than xmas.
Loot won't magically get better because Christmas arrives although I wish it would. I started Feb 8th this year so I cannot tell you about Christmas of years past.
I would Google the update lists, should say everything.
gems are pretty magical. Boosting collectors seems positive to the overall economy during this period, but barracks seems negative. Just want some opinions from people who have experienced the magical time of xmas clashing.Quote:

I was also a th8 last christmas and with the help of the boost did all my level 8 walks in less than 4 weeks, which included time not playing because of a trip to Hawaii and spending time with family at christmas. I thought it was pretty good back then.
I upgraded from th 9-10 during the Christmas period, and I'd say loot was slightly better than usual. I had no trouble keeping all my builders going even on the relatively expensive th 10 def upgrades, and I wasn't boosting barracks. Also, getting twice the normal amount of loot from your own collectors feels great, even if it doesn't actually add up to a ton. That said, so much has changed over the past year that it's really tough to predict, so keep your expectations pretty low and you should be pleasantly surprised.
EDIT: If you weren't playing last Christmas, your somewhat frightening stats mean that loot is likely always good for you.
Not sure if we had a collector boost last xmas.... But the last time there was a collector boost fo 7 days... Loot was amazing at masters (600k+). But they were not abandoned bases and I farmed using Loonion. So I had to boost my barracks regularly.
I hope it is the same this time round.
I lived in that era and i was a th8 back then. i used to boost my barracks and barch farming around 30 M gold daily. almost 80% of matches i found had their collectors boosted. if its an inactive ur lucky and if collectors are boosted you are lucky again.
I was TH9 and had gone their premmie with only lvl7 walls. Did all my lvl8s in 10 days during the event in 2013. Great loot back then in general though.Quote:

The best anyone can give you is: better than right now since there likely will be a 1 gem boost.
I don't really remember what my TH level was last X-mas, but i remember the loot well : it was awesome !
there was the boosted collectors that's true, but most of all there were many inactives ! I think there are some kids that play much less, may be their PS4 or Xbox took too much of their time, or may be they were sent do gran ma's home without a tablet or without a wifi connection.
BTW this august was the same to me, and i already add my TH10, i kept all builders busy very easily, always doing the most expensive updates first and still wasting some gold and many elixir with full storages.
Not thrilled if it will be elixer collectors only. Boost all!
