Balloons work well for TH 7s

Recently, I've been trying to use different army compositions apart form my regular, Barching. When I ended up trying the Balloons (Lvl 4), It came out to be very good for even TH 7s. IMO, TH 7s shouldn't wait for TH 8s to upgrade their Loons & Minions. Instead, try using them in great numbers & they'll completely demolish a base.

Now, I know TH 7s don't like to use DE. Since I didn't build my second DB yet & have my first one on upgrade, I've been using 30 Loons, 20 barbs, 20 Archers with 5 wbs (You can kick out the wbs if you want but I'm keep them for my BK & barbs to clean up the inside mess. Though in my raids, I haven't used any spells & got 80%+ on TH 7s with Lvl 4 Loons having centralized ADs, but it's pretty clear that if you use spells, you can easily demolish a TH 7 base with Loons.

So, instead of using Mass Drags, I'd say try using 30 Loons with anything else for clean up & you'll wreck them up. It's fun & simple. It's cheaper & takes way less time to train then Mass Drags strategy.

Does this strategy work for clan wars too? Im a th 8 and havent upgraded my balloons, theyre still lvl 3 and want to learn how to use them.

I'd say, No. At Lvl 3, Loons are really weak. Even if you go against a TH 7, you won't be able to destroy much of his base. Since you're a TH 8 too, I'd recommend upgrading your Loons to lvl 5 ASAP. The best upgrades for Loons are the Lvl 5 & 6. Though, having at least Lvl 4 can help you destroy a TH 7 base for at least a 2 Star victory. The only things you need to watch out for are the Air Bombs in pairs & the wizard tower. The AD can easily be overwhelmed by some Loons coming at it.

What I do is, deploy them in a straight line on one side & do the same on another side & then, I just wait until the defenses covering the outside buildings are destroyed. Then, I send in my other troops for a Clean up. I haven't yet used them in Clan Wars & I won't be until they are upgraded to Level 5 but I've been using them in raids. Since the army cost around 100k without spells, I look for a base having more elixir than that.

TH7- without minions... balloon+archers work fine in CW, I 3 starred TH7- with that combo in CW when my TH was low level.

vs TH7 & above need minions and always with max level of balloon.

Balloons and Minions best combo

Since getting to TH7 (I am 6 days away from TH8), I knew I wanted to use balloons. I used Lvl 3 balloons as Th6 with moderate success. Since I got lvl 4 balloons and paired them with minions, every war I have been in I have gotten 5 or 6 stars. I have attacked low TH8's for three stars as well as maxed out Th7 for 3 stars. I only use air raids for Wars. My best combo against TH 7 s has been 26 balloons and 35 minions. My best combo against TH 8's is 6 dragons, 20 minions and 8 balloons (C.C. has a dragon or 4 balloons). I mix it up between 3 rage spells or 2 rage 1 heal. Wish I could post replays...

I don't recommend going Air and Land together just my experience. May work for farming, but I think for war either or is better.

I've been using loons since lvl 1, but gotta say they're pretty bad at lvls 1-5 unless you're against some pretty bad bases.

As for Air & ground not to be together in raids, I just use those for a Clean up & they work well. As long as my DB is on upgrade, I'm using this army compositions but will go back to Balloonion once it's done.... Or maybe I'll upgrade it for Golems first :rolleyes:

I agree with you both but then, most bases we find during raids either have their ADs on upgrade or their ADs are poorly positioned that you can easily take them out.

I just added a few pictures of the replays. Though I'm a TH 8, my Loons are still Lvl 4. I started using spells where I thought I'll make a profit even after using them. Mainly focusing on pushing to Gold 1.

I made a stupid & Noobish Barch in the middle as well. It was an extreme fail :p & found many bases I could've taken out with Loons so I went back to Loons ;)
