One builder free at all times for walls?

I know there's advantages/disadvantages of both:

One builder free:
- Can always dump gold/elixir into walls (and even farm + dump more resources into if you don't have a shield)
BUT
- You lose value of that builder for the time that he's not hammering away at an upgrade

One builder not free (basically opposite):
- Getting most value out of that builder for always upgrading (especially if 4th or 5th builder that has been gemmed)
BUT
- Your resources have potential to stack up (thus increasing your chances of being raided if you don't have a shielf)

Or does it all depend on your TH level/farming situation/how active you are?

Personally I try to keep all builders active to get the value. I try to synchronise builders so that there's at least one that finishes sooner than the rest (e.g. 5 builders working, 1d, 2d, 3d, 4d, 5d left on buildings instead of 2d, 2d, 5d, 5d, 5d). I dump resources into walls and then start a new upgrade. A lot of my walls actually get done while my TH is upgrading (along with the few last buildings that need to be maxed)

Depends on my farming situation:cool:

Always keep a builder free. Working on skulls, so i can easily gather 500k for each upgrade, and immediately dump it into walls.

Plus the fact that i can never manage to synchronize my timing. Real life too busy to worry about that.

The only times I don't have a builder free is if I have an upgrade that takes ~8 hours and I'm about to go to sleep or school. Otherwise the builder is always free. Not to mention I can always remove random foliage around my base.

But yes it depends on activeness. If I'm going somewhere for a week without internet then id use my 5th

I only use all five builders if one of them will free up within the next 24 hours

I've never kept a builder free until I max the defenses buildings then obviously a builder will be free. Only had max loot problems towards the end of th9.

When i started in th9, i used all my builders to cope up with the new level. Now that i have upgraded half of my defenses, i free up one builder to finish my lego.

Stuff walls, you do them when you're up high. I only start doing walls once I hit 2900

At TH7 & TH8 I always kept a builder free to dump extra gold into walls.

Now at TH9 I've discovered that my skull walls tend to keep most attackers away and is good enough for intimidation. So now I keep all five builders busy at all times. For this TH level I will do all my upgrades and end off upgrading walls (instead of doing that first or during other upgrades).

Alway keep one free for walls, folks can't raid/revenge loot after it is spent.
