Best way to spend gems..

I am fully maxed at TH8 and get to TH9 today with full gold and E storages, full collectors and full CC war loot, (but only 15k DE). I know it won't last long, so I may spend some gems on constructing defences, walls, the AQ and upgrading the Lab and spell factory etc.

Does it make any difference how you spend gems? For example, is it best to fill storages from empty and then buy structures/upgrades, or does it cost the same to gem things one at a time to avoid having full storages that may be raided?

1 - BUILDERS; no competition, out of all gem purchases this one's best, hands down
2 - Boosting barracks/heroes; allows you to farm a ton of loot (or push really far) in a relatively short amount of time
3 - Boosting collectors; not as good as barracks when looking at gem:loot, but it's passive so if you can't be on for two hours this may be what's best
4 - Spell factory boost; conditional, only good if you're pushing. Allows you to get much needed spells much quicker

Those are the potentially worthwhile ones imo (from what I can think of off the top of my head)

5 - Boosting Time; can be useful if, say your TH will finish before you go to sleep and you want to start the quick upgrades early, but overall; why spend precious gems for time? It's going to be a better investment to put them in almost anything else

6 - Instant dark elixir; the prices are pretty steep for DE, possibly worthwhile if you did a bad job of juggling builders and upgrades and have one open for a hero, but almost always a bad idea

Those can be useful in very specific circumstances but should be avoided

7 - Instant gold and elixir; this is a huge waste of gems, just don't :rolleyes:

In an ideal world I would follow your sage advice and I thank you for your common sense replies. Unfortunately, I will have no time for raiding over the next few days due to unforseen circumstances. So, I could cancel the upgrade, but have waited 10 days! I could leave my TH8 base with a TH9 TH and hope I don't get raided if I use up what resources I currently have available, or I could gem the walls I need for a better base, the AQ and perhaps get the mortar, Wizard tower and x-bows in place. My question really is IF I decide to use gems on these things, is there any difference in gemming individual structures one at a time, or is it more economic to fill storages and buy from those? I understand that this is nothing like an ideal situation, and so far In the game I have only gemmed the last two builders and paid for brx boosts and the occasional time saver.

I'm pretty positive buying all resources at once is cheaper

5th builder if you dont have one , or dont want to earn it through achievements.
Boosting barracks / spell factory
Everything else with gems doesnt seem reasonable , unless you have loads of money to continue buying it and skip days of upgrade

If you're not going to be online, spend all your resources on the defensive upgrades/AQ

then leave your base inactive until you come back.

save your gems.

Nobody will raid you if you spend all your loot lol

It costs less Gems to buy more resources as compared to using them in intervals & upgrading your buildings.

just boost stuff and buy builders with gems.Try to gem only the time for x bows inferno towers and heroes because if you calculate heroes from lv 15-40 this is 25lvs times 1000 gems(999) each you get 25000 per hero so 50000 gems(both heroes) which is around 380$ which is a lot better to give rather than waiting 25lvs times 7days each which is 175 days for only 1 hero which is basically half a year upgrading only 1 hero to lv 40.In my opinion this is really stupid, so better spend 380% on heroes upgrading time rather than waiting half a year:D:)

If I replied a lot earlier, I would have told you that (from what I heard somewhere) loot until your storages are maxed, then buy a shield. Right afteryour TH is upgraded, buy those two x bows instantly, upgrade the lab and buy the queen.
